The first year of Kim and LeRoy's marriage drove a wedge between them. They refused divorce, so lived for 8 years as roommates to raise their children, until one day Kim couldn't take it anymore.

Many people believe that marrying young or marrying too quickly means the relationship will fail. This is not true at all!!! I was 19 when I married my husband. We only knew each other three months. We have been very happily married for 17 1/2 years. Your commitment to each other is what is important. Ben and I are both committed to our marriage and to making it work. We take those vows very seriously. I love that man more and more with every passing year.

this resonates with me so much! thanks for sharing your story. it's so similar to my struggles in my marriage. where my wife wants to express her frustrations often in a highly-emotional state, and I've got no 'tools' to deal with it... I don't know how to answer so not to offend her and not to take the argument to the next level... fear of not being able to provide, not being good enough... all this stuff that LeRoy was sharing - been there and on some level probably still am... almost exactly 1 year ago I accepted Christ in my life and it has significantly affected me and our marriage... I just regret I didn't do that earlier - so many wasted years

You could start praying for her. Like now. When you get up in the morning go to bed at night, or maybe five minutes here or there while you are at work. I didn't know what to do with my job or my boss or even have the right words. So, I would just spend ten minutes in the bathroom at work being silent and quiet and kneel on the floor on the toliet until I had strength and peace again and then would get up and do my work. And I would step aside in my car or while driving or in the shower or wherever...praying in the spirit.

It's fascinating how in almost all of these married couple testimonials it's both parties realizing those parts of their lives that are dysfunctional in ways they don't realize, that leads to misconceptions of God, others and themselves. Once they get on the same page and communicate, with God's word as a guide, they find an oasis of love they didn't experience previously.

I tell my husband all the time that I feel like we're roommates instead of a married couple living together. It's really sad. I have very bad depression and anxiety and so this just keeps me low. I have gained a lot of weight due to the medication I'm on, and my teeth are horrible, I need them pulled and dentures or implants, but I don't have the money. It's very embarrassing. My shame and self-consciousness keeps me even more secluded than I was before. I had to quit my job as a CNA working in a nursing home due to a lot of horrible treatment, and being way overworked and stressed to the max, horrible, mean coworkers, it Literally made me bad sick, and I couldn't take it anymore. I had a nervous breakdown. It's been a few months, and I'm trying to recover from everything. It's very hard. I don't have any money, no food, I can't take care of myself or my animals like I should. Its very heartbreaking and depressing. Also I have been off my depression and anxiety medicines since I no longer have money to pay for the doctors appointment and prescriptions. My husband wrecked his truck. We don't have much left anymore, and no way to get anywhere. We need prayers badly, please people. Our marriage needs a lot of prayers also. My mom lives with us and is in very bad health, it's all just so much stress on us. I'm only 27 years old. There should be help, I shouldn't be stuck. There should be some kind of help for us. Please pray for us. Thank you very much and God bless you all.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I can't begin to imagine how you feel. I encourage you to continually turn to God. Remember that HE is your source of security and comfort. Get plugged in a christian community by going to church. If you are self- conscious, know that you will probably feel awkward, uncomfortable and fearful being in church around other people, but push through those feelings and begin to develop acquaintances with others (gradually turning into friendship). Seek pastoral help as well. Of course, before you do any of these things, ask your Heavenly Father for guidance. Proverbs 3:5-6 is His promise to you: 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.' God is in control and if you turn to Him, He will help you and give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33- "Seek First the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Then everything you need shall be added unto you." This is God's promise. Follow the principle and see the results.

I know God will answer. I believe I just need to continue to search my heart and do my best so God sees m trying. I know He is able to turn things around.. I just pray for patients and understanding. There are those that think of themselves as Chr1stian, but are not. I will add here, that I've seen situations where the woman is an extremely light sleeper and is also domineering; this is a woman better off alone and one in which a man will relinquish the notion of a happy marriage bed. This is the sort of situation that a separate room might equate to the best thing, just as long as the s3x is a happy medium for both still. There needs to be more communication prior to marriage to access these sorts of issues. A massive questionnaire would be a good place to start and then some.

Criticism is not the aphrodisiac people think it is.
@Alphacentauri819
@Alphacentauri819 5 жыл бұрын
Ashton Gilmore unfortunately the way men and women are wired is that they trigger one another. Even an expression of a need or a hurt, is often taken as a criticism by the man...then he acts defensive, basically invalidating the woman’s feelings and concerns. A woman often expresses those as a way to get connected, closer...but doesn’t realize that it can be taken as a criticism or attack by a man...so the cycle goes and goes. If both sides can take things (the ones that are their triggers) less personally...it makes a big difference. But takes a setting aside of ego and pride, but truly reaching out and empathizing. The best aphrodisiac for most women, is the foreplay of listening and validating that happens in the moments outside the bedroom. If a woman feels heard and valued....its game on, for most the women I know!! Withdrawal and ignoring is also a terrible aphrodisiac...it’s basically a man communicating with non-verbal, “I don’t care about, or value, you” No woman is turned on by that.
@splouffy
@splouffy 5 жыл бұрын
@@Alphacentauri819 perhaps some men use silence as a method of silent protest( which is a form of manipulation), while others' silence is a result of constant censorship. Censorship in that words dont work, or are frequently reused as a weapon of manipulation by women. We as a society are well aware of the frequently documented bad behavior of men, and so there seems to be some consensus that women are always the victim. That sentiment (in my opinion), demolishes most attempts at resolving gender conflict, at their beginning. Because if you ask women, women are always right.
@Alphacentauri819
@Alphacentauri819 5 жыл бұрын
Ashton Gilmore and I do not agree that women are always the victim...believing absolutes such as “always” prevents us from seeing any info to the contrary. There are definitely SOME women that are harsh and cruel to men. And men might be “victims” in these circumstances? Unless there is abuse...I prefer not to use the term victim... that’s just me. Most the time it’s adults, getting stuck in their amygdala/hippocampus (primitive) zone...acting fearful and hurt. What those behaviors are, is individual to those people in individual situations... Either side...it needs to get better. And it starts with each person, bettering themselves. After that it’s a willingness to hear another person... Most people are so undeveloped socially, mentally, emotionally that few have any business being in a relationship...but they inevitably happen despite any readiness.

Or tell him things he needs to fix. But I just keep praying for him that God will give him a new heart. That is why, in my opinion, you shouldn't marry right away. Instead of rushing into marriage me and my future husband decided to be patient and wait on the Lord to tell us when. We will marry in 2020, after 5+ years of dating! We took the time to know one another well and to talk extensively about our emotions, our expectations and how we viewed life (faith, marriage, raising children, finances and politics and so on). The Lord gave us patience and understanding and aligned our hearts to match one another.

Much communication, inclusive of finding massive questionnaire. Unfortunately the question of s3xual compatibility becomes an issue, something of which the waiting can potentially weed out in way of accessing if a person is honest; still, if you are dealing with v1rgins, then this is an unknown, let alone knowing if the other will, at a later date, start to use it as a weap0n (this regardless of religion); this of course also goes back to your position of waiting and accessing the other person. Everyone wears a mask and are adapt at creating new masks. One of the greatest factors is knowing and seeing the depth of love that the other person has for you; this without 'neediness', 'brokenness' or psychosis, of which the other person 'thinks they love you'. Actions help reveal love and commitment, inclusive of if they whine about things. I've also learnt to access if the other person is a very light sleeper (snorer even etc). Unfortunately experience makes for knowing the sorts of questions to ask, of which those green would never think or are in too much of a hurry to even contemplate to ask or find out personally. I would even say that regarding your '5 years' that people might be busy and also have blinders on i..e dismissing the obvious / not willing to see. I would use this time and all encounters to gauge the other person. I would also go out of your comfort zone to create encounters to help answer questions. It is in your benefit that the other person does so likewise.

@@dylanjames7031 Thank you for your answer, it was interesting to read! It was important for us to wait and explore our compatibility before marrying because we are friends since high school, and our social environment is exactly the same, his close friends are my close friends too. We are a very tight group, very much like a family and our relationship has an impact on the dynamic of that group. But being part of the same social circle also helps with trust and in knowing the person in depth. There were a lot of things I didn't need to ask myself when we started dating because I already knew them. I knew what he was like in public, in more private settings and I even knew if he snored or not (he snores like a chainsaw and I couldn't care less). Also what prompted us to be more patient was the end of my parents' marriage. After 35+ years they separated, and the main reason is that they simply weren't compatible. They are completely different people, with nothing in common but their children. When I asked them why they didn't address their issues before marrying, they told me that it wasn't done before. In their community, you married the first person who asked and that your parents approved of. On the contrary my fiancé's parents are happily married for 30+ years so that gives us hope! The question of intimacy is indeed a difficult one, especially for me. I was sexually abused by an adult when I was a teenager, and that is hard to recover from. After 5 years we think we're ready, everything is clicking into place and we thank God for it. We both want to build a home, a family with the Lord at the center. Our bond is strong, and I couldn't have hoped for a better man, God truly blessed me! He is kind and generous and thinks of others before himself. He's secure in who he is as a man but he is also aware of his flaws and his sins. He's a humble servant and I love that about him.

I’ve been a loyal roommate for 19 of 39 years. I have no desire for her now but would never abandon her. I know I’ll never be able to make a home perfect enough or read her mind the way I’m supposed to or remember everything I’m supposed to. I have begged God to make my sex drive stop torturing me. It’s not as bad as it used to be but it’s still there and now feels more like a demon than a gift. There’s a reason there’s no sex in heaven. It causes way to many problems and death here. Pray God can fix me because I can’t. So there. I said it to an empty room.

So grateful they did not divorce. But they allowed Yahweh to work in your marriage with them individually to see what was really going on. That is so beautiful because we can fall in and out of love with each other but marriage is a commitment that we keep till death do us part! Especially when there is no infidelity or abuse!

Many many marriages suffer through some point of emotional abuse, it's not impossible. It hurts but it's usually both parties not having the tools or guidance from the holy spirit to communicate effectively. Check out Heather Lindsey she is on youtube. I follow her instagram too @heatherllove she and her husband are prayer warriors and lead together in ministry, she was just speaking on this issue actually this week check her out . Praying for you I know how it feels to be in that situation, both the receiving and giving end, you're not alone ❤ Jesus can heal any marriage no matter how broken.

How do you know where to start in the Bible when your trying to restore your marriage
@racpatrice
@racpatrice 4 жыл бұрын
The best place to start is 1 Corinthians 13. The love chapter 😊. Ask the Lord to reveal to you where you have been falling short while you ask Him for His intervention in your marriage. Whatever the Holy Spirit tells you that needs to change within you, ask Him to help you make the necessary changes. Then you can read the book of Ephesians. I hope this helps

What if Jesus had allowed his “emotions” to guide his actions? Would he have gone to the cross? Emotions are always fleeting and being controlled by them is a sign of weakness. If you’re unhappy and emotional, you’re not grateful to God for your opportunity at life!
