Never bet against JPL: its nearing two years since this little helicopter flew for the first time on another world and its still going strong 41 flights later!

Good observation! The physics alone should allow the machine to be scaled up to about whatever size. And you should be able to carry the blades for a Curiosity-sized copy to Mars in a Starship.

@@michaelswagart5784 I satellite spot. I catch a few every clear night, where they're predicted to be, and I've done measurements ( via scale drawing, or using simple trig) with the help of a relative a few hundred km due south of me, so we could get their heights and groundpeeds - these always come out as hundreds of km and km per second respectively. I've caught a couple of the bigger, lower altitude ones (including the ISS) through my telescope and they look as expected. And, getting a bit more technical, I used a radio set and a directional antenna to follow the signals produced by several of them, across the sky, so they are definitely machines in communication with the ground. All the above is repeatable by anyone, has been many times. Don't take my word for it, go out and try it. Now, I cannot personally vouch for this video. And, yes, software to alter digital images is universal today - which is why it's more important than ever to check yourself, out in the world not online - but if what you're arguing here is any variation of the 'all space is fake' meme... no: 99% of space industry is done by machines close enough to be viewed and measured the way I have done, from the ground, and verified by many, many independent observers and hobbyists.
@chrisantoniou4366
@chrisantoniou4366 Жыл бұрын
@@studentjohn No matter what observation, measurement, or experiment you make, it will confirm precisely what we all know to be true. As you say, these experiments are repeatable by anybody and we haven't even begun to talk about the other 1% of spacecraft that have brought back lunar material, are orbiting other planets, have landed on other planets, or are running around and even flying on other planets. However, as I'm sure you well know, conspiracy "theorists" are immune to facts...
@studentjohn
@studentjohn Жыл бұрын
@@chrisantoniou4366 I think there's value in establishing what can be observed by folk on a budget, with basic equipment, and the kind of maths that most of us will have seen at school. I 100% expect that a real conspiracy theorist will find an interpretation of those observations that at least superficially gels with their conspiracy theory. But if we can manage to agree that, for example, rocket launches are visible in binoculars all the way up to their planned altitude, and satellites are visible in the sky with confirmable heights and signals... then we have at least got an agreed set of observations, and predictable behaviours, for these things. That's a basis for some kind of genuine & respectful discussion, as opposed to immediate accusations of people lying, or having delusions etc en-mass - which is what usually happens.

@@HansDunkelberg1 the Martian atmosphere is very thin, so I don’t think the down wash from a helicopter of ingenuity’s size will be enough to blow dust off solar panels.
@HansDunkelberg1
@HansDunkelberg1 Жыл бұрын
@@clevergirl4457 Yes, the atmosphere is thin, but it's thick enough to blow dust _on_ solar panels. Ingenuity anyway counteracts the thinness of the air by spinning incredibly fast. Mars' gravity amounts, after all, to a third of ours on Earth, so the winds produced by a helicopter there will reach a third of those on our planet, likewise. Mars' dust is very fine.

@@brianlee5702 Hey Brian, thanks for the comment reply. If I don't type out a complaint, how do I express my concerns/dislikes/likes ? And its super easy to type stuff. I bet ya I could type my original comment in less than 10 seconds. Typing a complaint takes no longer than typing any other type of reply. This video would a billion times better if the uploader would just narrate something over the video instead of the Muzak. My problem is that his background Muzak seems to be everywhere and if more people complained about it, then maybe we'd hear less of it. Another problem of everyone using background Muzak is that there is no originality when every other video is playing that muzak. No disrespect to this channel personally but using Muzak comes off as lazy and easy. I do realize that making and editing videos is a chore so I would say to the content creators that I would much much prefer a silent video over Muzak.
