Scenic Marseille
An overview of the Viking Cruise Excursion called Scenic Marseille. This is a Marseille city tour and is offered to cruise ship passengers on cruises in the Mediterranean. It is Viking Cruise lines included excursion for cruises through Marseille in Provence France, including Viking Cruises Mediterranean Odyssey, Viking Cruises Mediterranean & Italian Sojourn and Viking Cruises Mediterranean Antiquities cruises.
Unfortunately, it was a rainy day when we did this excursion.

Our Marseille day trip included all the expected Marseille highlights such as the:
• Marseille coastline and the Marseille beaches;
• Marseille Cathedral which is also known as the Cathedral of Saint Mary Major or the Cathedral of Sainte-Marie-Majeure, or just La Major with its Romano Byzantine architecture;
• Marseille old port also known as Vieux Port and the Marseille old town;
• Isle of If;
• Vallon des Auffes;
• Notre Dame de la Garde;
• monument to the dead of the Army of the Orient and the distant lands; and
• The Marseille cruise port
Plus there is some extra information on the Marseille Cruise port free shuttle bus which takes you to the Harbor Terraces Shopping Mall which has extensive views of the Marseille harbor and the Marseille port.
We took this Viking Cruise video when we were doing a Viking European Cruise. We found beforehand that although there are a lot of Viking Cruise tips for travelers there was little information on Viking Ocean Cruise excursions and Viking Cruise tours, especially on the Marseille highlights to expect. So this video is designed for those who are planning the Viking Cruise experience and want to know what a Viking Cruise Marseille itinerary for a port visit actually shows you.
Our excursion started at the dock where we were assigned to a bus with an experienced Marseille guide. We travelled past the Cathedral of Saint Mary Major and then through the Marseille old port and along the coast before turning around and heading back to the old port area. Here we had time to ourselves to explore the Marseille restaurants and stores that line the old port. Our guide gave us some handy Marseille - what to do travel tips for while we were in the old port area. Following our time at the old port the bus returned us to our Viking Cruise ship and that ended our Marseille in one day tour. While this Marseille tour only gave us a brief glimpse of this fascinating port city it showed us that an extended Marseille holiday would certainly be worthwhile.
