I love these vids with these legends. I wish you would do an episode where you interview some of your guests like C-Mack, CA, and this legend and talk to them about their tactics and their experiences. I would live to hear more. If you keep making the vids, I will keep watching, liking, and sharing.

I love that river. I drive over it everyday and it's nice to see it when it's really clear I been trying to get my buddies to go with me but unfortunately they don't belive it can be that good I'm usually in my canoe going down but my kayak is awesome there too , and I have a pretty good idea where your putting in and I can tell you that the further you go down the better it gets!!!!

I definitely enjoy your videos of fishing the upper Tangipahoa River. But, I can't help but be disappointed by the fact that most of us will never have the experience of fishing the upper stretches of the river because of the lack of public access. Why parish/state officials can't allow a bit of access at the major highway crossings is beyond me.

Looks like ton of fun-one of these days gonna try it and Wifey and I cross the Tangi River at least twice a week headed from our Mandeville home to Ponchy Wal Mart for our incredibly-successful Medicare kiosk!!We finish up our stint just in time for Trestles trips(heated up already!!)and T-Funky sac a lait trips!!Got fuel pump issues with ole 2001-era Johnson 50(bullet-proof engine)and hope to get replacement fuel pump early next week,have avid You-Tuber willing to lend a hand cleaning out carbs for good measure,and plan some all-out fishing assaults!!!Knew it was bout time for Tangi River float trip video.Our St.Jane de Chantal Lenten Fish Fry cancelled for tonight due to issues with our fish supplier getting hacked!!!Great trip,Todd and Joe!!

I always enjoy watching the float trips. Joe’s probably forgot more about fishing then many of us have ever learned. Especially on his home waters.

Yes, Joe is an accomplished saltwater angler as well. He won a boat in the STAR, and came close several other times.

Between the two of us, we had to paddle upstream to retrieve a snagged lure three or four times. I'd say that's about average. Regarding river fishing, Joe is indeed the master. I've been fortunate to share a boat with him many times over the years.

I fish the upper reaches of the rivers on the Northshore; I've found the action to be a bit sporadic so far this year - at times, it's been good. I caught a nice sac-a-lait the other day on, of all things, a Rapala twitched on top - that was a nice lunch the next day. I'm afraid this cold snap is going to put them down for a while.

The whole time down the river, you're constantly bumping into logs and brushing under limbs. The spiders use these occasions to hop in your boat.

Ohh man, these guys are keeping a lot of bass. Most people, including myself keep 1-2 if that. These guys are looking for limits, while talking measurement limits for speckled trout. It’s been 12 inches since I was born. I’m 38 now, it makes me sick to see these guys loaded up on a fresh water species while advocating for salt water size limits on their show. It’s rich. Really. How may people in louisiana here catch nice 13-14 inch school trout to eat and harvest for family, for years, to only have marsh man mason and his friends to advocate for making the limit 15 inches, only because they love top water action, Verse harvest, like many of our families for years. It’s no different then the rules set for the second amendment. Rules for the, but not for me. On Marsh man mason he keeps any small bass, he and his friends should be pushing for at least a 12 inch limit for them, instead of keeping 9-10 inch fish. Again, rich.

Hater comments from folks that knee jerk respond not needed. That river is slap full of fish and there are small windows when you can have decent to good days. Enjoy future “ lake crisco” Videos Marsh Man puts on.😎

Hey J Rod, I appreciate all comments on this channel, even those full of factual errors, non sequiturs and conflation. First of all, I've never advocated for making the speckled trout size limit 15 inches. In fact, if I had it my way, there would be no size minimum, and the creel limit would be dramatically reduced. That would do a lot of good for the fishery, but I understand it's not politically tenable, so I'll settle for whatever harvest tightening we can get. Why? Because the fishery clearly needs it. Louisiana's speckled trout population is a fraction of what it once was. All the fisheries-dependent and fisheries-independent data supports that position, and so do the anecdotal reports from those with vastly more experience than you. But to say that someone who argues for tighter restrictions on an overfished fishery shouldn't harvest fish from an abundant fishery is obviously peak absurdity. The Tangipahoa River has rich fish stocks that are inaccessible to anglers during 90% of the year due to high, turbid water. When it falls to fishable levels, Joe Lavigne, who has been fishing there for nearly all of his 73 years, harvests a few fish. Good for him. Believe me, if the biologists determined the fishery needed some assistance, Joe would be among the first calling for a tightening of regulations.
