An American marten defends a piece of bait from a Northern goshawk. The bait is set up to attract marten to a remote camera station that allows researchers to identify individual animals using their unique chest and throat markings. This footage was captured in the John Prince Research Forest (JPRF) in north central British Columbia. The forest is co-managed by the University of Northern British Columbia and the Tl'azt'en First Nation. Thanks to JPRF researchers and HCTF grant recipients Shannon Crowley and Dexter Hodder for sharing this amazing footage with us!
