79 years old and still playing the piano as when she was young. Simply unbelievably.

Absolutely. She is brilliant. Martha makes it clear to everybody: if you want to keep fit and mentally alert well into old age, forget about mud baths, yoga for stiff joints, jogging, carrot diets, crossword puzzles, playing Bingo or whatever. There is only one way that surely works: (learn to) play the piano!

@Michael Holmethe 27 Chopin etudes the most important of all.Ask Martha Argerich .Hackneyed is a word foreign to Chopin's creations, except the vulgar misuse of the 3rd movement of his 2nd Sonata.

@@spfqr4977 In an article from Gramophone, Lyda Chen, her daughter, mentions that Martha wasn't sure if she played well, but after Zimerman calling her to tell her that it was the best he's ever heard, she said she probably didn't play so bad after all if Zimerman says so.

Its a magic sound that fills the surrounding space then spills out and goes farther... Overwhelmingly sparkling beauty of Chopin music.... The best composer ever walked the planet Earth....The ability to create such a harmony not comparable with anyone and anything. Its so unique...

This sonata is one of the most elusive of all masterpieces ever I am privileged to know and admire. Its logic is profoundly cosmic with a philosophy that is gorgeously manifested and expounded to all the truly gifted music lovers of the world. This pianist is a consummate master musician who communicates the power, and scope of the visceral nature of this surpassing score. It has been an awesome favorite since the mid seventies. PWG

A whole musician's life passes me by when I hear this mature piano playing. Fantastically played - how balanced and like velvet and silk this expression in the piano playing.
