I always loved that my dear Mom made baskets for my sister and me every year, even when we were in high school. She'd fill them with goodies. Man, I miss her. She's looking out for me, up there in the twinkling stars.

As a child of the 90’s I grew up with a Martha Stewart mom. Martha was always in our home. Luckily my mom let me help bake and even try my own recipes while I’d pretend to be Martha. I’d finish my dishes by saying, “it’s a good thing.” Now in my late 20’s I’m enjoying revisiting her episodes and continuing to learn and let Martha influence my life. Thank you! 💕

you know what I like best about Martha? even when she makes a mistake, she leans right into it and acts like that is precisely what she meant to say and do...making the rest of us question if maybe we're wrong. That takes some skill! she plugged through "goodly amount of salt" like she uses "goodly" for everything and we should too. LOVE HER!! always have, always will. I can't cook...when I want to learn, I go to two people Julia Child and Martha Stewart!
@eduardo_corrochio
@eduardo_corrochio 2 жыл бұрын
For the "goodly" thing, a quick correction is in order, and maybe even a dash of fun self deprecation over it. For someone who prides herself on doing things properly, then grammar and usage should be also included for Martha. Plus, if she doesn't acknowledge the mistake then some viewers might believe that the word is totally acceptable in conversation, and then before you know it you have another situation that spreads like rust on a sunken hull, like when _impactful_ started becoming the preferred thing to say instead of crucial or critical. I enjoy Martha but once in a while she really tries to save face when a boo-boo has been made (verbally or physically). And that's okay. She's human. Nothing's perfect. And "that's a good thing". 🙂 I once watched a cooking instruction program in which the hostess was sprinkling cinnamon on top of her rice pudding in a pot. As she began to shake it the jar released clearly much more than what she had anticipated, generously covering the dessert. Instead of saying "Oops, good grief, that was too much" she suddenly blurted "Be liberal, slather it on!" I would have respected her much more had she been genuine. Not a big deal, I know, but it says a lot about someone.
@PJ-sh3nh
@PJ-sh3nh 2 жыл бұрын
@@eduardo_corrochio You must be my spirit-grammar-animal..."Impactful" drives me crazy. I get it, I'm a nerd lol...but the whole concept of using "impactful" as a verb of impact, it's worse than that whole "irregardless" mess that happend.
@eduardo_corrochio
@eduardo_corrochio 2 жыл бұрын
@@PJ-sh3nh Love it. In my youth "impacted" was only about someone's wisdom tooth at the dentist. Now it's changed from adjective to verb, and is rampant on TV and elsewhere. I do understand that language evolves over time, we can't stop it. But I kind of wince a little bit inside when something sounds just not right. Fussy? You betcha! I'm practically Felix Unger sometimes.

@@captainamericaamerica8090 i have been saying "impeccably clean hands" and "beat your meat into submission" almost my entire life, because of Julia! I agree, she is the platinum standard by which all other tv/internet cooks/chefs should be held. Just a remarkably brilliant and professoinally prolific human. I wish more womens' studies programs would make her a focus, she was an alpha-female to the highest degree.

Yes, you do know what you are doing. I have sliced pork belly, must try brown sugar glazed! Funny story about 20+ years ago, my husband made Halla bread for a holiday dinner with my grandpa, and Jake the beagle somehow got to the bread wrapped in a bag that was packed in another bag on the counter in less than 5 minutes while we were gathering a few things upstairs! It was a great memory.

It wouldn't be Easter if I didn't make a lamb shaped cake in my grandmother's cake mold. The frosting is white with lots of coconut for fleece and a cherry nose. Raisin eyes, a bow tied on the neck and on the background of a cutting board with Easter grass and jelly beans.
