This is from the satirical Cinemax series "The History of White People in America," starring Fred Willard and Mary Kay Place. Between SPINAL TAP and BEST IN SHOW, there was this short series by Martin Mull and featuring familiar faces of improvisational comedy in the United States including Harry Shearer and Michael "Lenny" McKean, among so many others.

Came here to celebrate Martin Mull and found myself celebrating soooo many comedy greats we've lost - Fred Willard, Edie McClurg, David L. Lander, Jack Riley, et al. What an amazing cast he was able to assemble.

Fred and Martin were an incomparable duo. I thought they were a perfect match up then. I have never forgotten their brilliance; or this series. Priceless!! Who could ever forgot Fred saying, “ I’m just a girl who can’t say no!”.... he was truly one of a kind, and so was Martin. RIP!

This series was so underrated but those who loved it couldn’t get enough of this show. Truly great stuff. Willard and mull together were magic! I miss them both so much.

R.I.P. Fred Willard. You were brilliant actor, performer, and improvisor, and I think some of your best work was on this series.

So many familiar faces, including SNL, Cheers, "Mary Hartman", & its spin-off, "Fernwood Tonight", also set in OH. Dry humor, & no laugh-track. In 2012, 72 yr old Fred Willard was arrested for a Pee Wee Herman type episode in a Hollywood theater. And of course, bandleader "Adrian Van Voorhees", on the Jiminy Glick show. Even George Gobel, and Stella Stevens, as the waitress. (First time I saw MM was in the early 1970s, a stand-up comedian (sitting in an upholstered chair with a floor lamp) in a club in Harvard Sq. Last time I saw him was in a Golden Girls episode.)

So nice to see these tribute videos. Martin was so multitalented, an artist, musician and brilliant comedian. The line about Jesus going through the goalposts was priceless.

I think this show was more influential than SPINAL TAP in creating the mockumentary as practiced by Chris Guest to this day. And Fred Willard is a comedy genius!

Nothing like making fun of Christian church where Jesus is the only possible way of avoiding going to hell for eternity. I don't want any one possible or any thing possible to keep others being in the only way to heaven. It's not a joke. No matter how you think or f and facing eternity it's dead serious. Because we are each near stepping into eternity. Though now I am elderly and known different kinds of people. I want you to know out of all the people I know who were just mean, abusive, and awful. I would not want them to go to hell. All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Unless a person seeks God asking forgiveness for breaking Gods moral law Judgement will be forever. It is serious my felllow human being. This? It is not a true point o finding God.
