Matin Mull was intriguing. His show “Fernwood Tonight” was just as clever, nonsensical & infused with the mind of a twisted Genius as SNL. 😂😂🔥🔥👊🏽👊🏽 Fred Willard was an awesome Side Man. Definitely an exception to the traditional Comedy duo of Straight Man/Comic. They both played it straight & worked to “1 up” the other via “tongue in cheek “.

so true, there wasn't the virtue signaling like today,,, I am not sure what has happened since the 70's but it would really suck to be a stand up comedian in this day and age... They used to love playing the college circuit, now many say they won't go near it.

@@user-eo1vz9lt8gyou do know Geprge Carlin AND Lenny Bruce both got ARRESTED for saying the word "fuck" on stage, right? Censorship has and wills also exist in some form, it'll just change over time. What was okay to say just a few decades ago, "that's gay", "that's retarded", etc. is not okay to say today. The difference back then and now is people arent getting arrested, they're just not being sponsored (by certain people/groups/or advertisers), but I'll tell you what, just because colleges dont want a certain person on their campus, does not mean that person doesnt have another door that opens for them, a different group of sponsors who want them on their stage. The circuit for "edgy" or "problematic" comedians is still very much out there, nobody is *actually* being cancelled. Shane Gillis, he got cut from SNL (and probably for the best), because he got cut from SNL, the groups that hate "pc culture" opened their arms to him (and sometimes they do that just to spite the fact they lost an opportunity) and now he has his own Netflux special and show. Another point, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Bill Burr, etc. might not be playing colleges anymore but that doesn't mean that ALL comedians are struggling in this "mew era of comedy". Comedy will ALWAYS change. There are new comedians now (that you've probably never heard of) who were just like the comedians of the alt comedy scene in the early 2000s. And a lot of those comedians from the alt scene from the early 2000s, they aren't struggling to keep up either (Maria Bamford, Patton Oswalt, Sarah Silverman, etc.) You sound like the people who complain "there's no good music these days/music when I was young was the best" and it's like, that's just not true. You probably just stopped looking and now you're set in your ways.

I remember seeing this, along with Volume 2, as a teenager. It was extremely helpful. Any chance you’ll be uploading the second one anytime soon? As an agoraphobe, I don’t have a lot of contact with other people, so sometimes I forget how to be white, and how to cope with traditional white-people issues. Last month I ran out of mayonnaise and had a full-on panic attack. I’d like to rewatch these educational films again in the hopes that they’ll provide instructions for dealing with future white-people problems without having a total meltdown. Thank you!

Amie, I wanted to take time to think about your issues and questions (and to bone up on my back swing) and try to give you some advice in today's white bashing times. We at the institute have been informing all white people that the best course of action in these WOKE times is to simply 'Trans' to another gender or race until this white bashing settles down. Perhaps you might want to try on a Black Man, or how about a Korean (Most white people find the Korean store owner to be a safe bet) Stay away from the Chinese as their food selections are just too complicated and they never use Mayo). Of course there's the old tried and true Hindu Cashier... who's gonna argue with him? I know I wouldn't. In the end try to stay come and keep stocked on all the necessities of the age: Mayo (Regular and the new Chipoltle) , Hand creme, Cured meats and lots of charcoal. Take care Amie and try to stay as calm as your whiteness will allow...

The truth is in plain sight. Doesn't matter if it's labeled a Mockumentry or Documentary. Many people like to express the truth in a comedic fashion to relieve their conscious. One truth that can't be refuted in this educational film is: "So-called white people DON'T come from western Europe." FACTS... whether it's joked about or not.

When I was young in the midwest growing into my teenage years, we watched all of the sitcoms. So sad for anyone who was'nt there. Mayonnaise on a piece of white bread was a snack. And for school lunch in a paper sack we would make Velveeta cheese sandwiches and a twinkie, also some Oreo cookies. RIP Martin Mull. Mary Kay Place is great. Laughing at oneself is good for you. Television shows: I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners, Petticoat Junction, Green Acres, The Beverly Hiibillies, Bewitched and many others. RIP Norman Lear who gave us the great sitcoms of the 70s.

I glad I found part the 1st Season of The History of White people of America, especially the Harrison family, this is hilarious, especially back in those days how white suburban families are!

When I was a young teenager I used to love to watch Fernwood Tonight with Martin Mull. It was the first time I began to love improv and satire. He and Fred Willard cracked me up on the inside! I always had a dry sense of humor from an early age. Learning to be funny without telling a joke and making people think you are serious about what you are saying, but you are just on a roll and really don't believe any of it, is hilarious! People need to RELAX about this film. Its comedy. They are whites making fun of white people, big deal! I think all races should be able to laugh at themselves. WHY NOT? Take your mind away from the condition of this world right now, just for a minute..

Fred Willard as the bartender in DC Follies was one of the funniest shows ever. Politicians and Entertainment people hated it. Making fun of them had them suing the network. I think you can’t even see the old reruns because of the lawsuit.
