Spider-Man rivals Batman for the best rogues gallery in comics and as such has nearly endless potential for boss battles in his games. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s base game doesn’t disappoint in that regard with 12 boss battles across the game and in this video I’ll be ranking them.

The opening Sandman boss fight was honestly a standout imo. I love how we're put right into it & the stakes just keep going up.

Venom vs Kraven was the easiest boss fight I’ve ever faced. There’s no way that it is the best in the game. Venoms parry is the easiest parry and they only make you fight him twice. I don’t even think I died to him 🤣🤣

There is not one bad boss fight in this game, every boss in this game was fantastic but me personally, the Peter boss fight was the best one in this entire game. Miles trying to help Peter overcome the symbiote and telling him he's stronger than this was amazing. And the fight choreography was beautiful. And then ripping the symbiote off of him, was beautiful. I did not think they was gonna cook this well

The Venom final fight with Peter made me so mad. 😄 kept getting my ass handed to me. Granted i didnt upgrade my focus until after I beat the story.

What I love about the Kraven fights is how when you fight him as Spider-Man it’s hard ( for me it was at least ) but when you fight him as venom it’s a lot easier showing the strength difference between the two

This list is solid, but I think the Venom vs Kraven fight was extremely overhyped. I loved it, don't get me wrong, but I didn't find it difficult in the slightest compared to other bosses. I played on Spectacular difficulty, since that was the hardest difficulty I could go on for my first playthrough, and this was by far the easiest fight. I didn't die once as Venom, especially when fighting Kraven. Hell, I think I took more damage fighting the Oscorp grunts and the Hunters than I did from Kraven. The reason I don't fault this fight for that is because story-wise, it's not supposed to be a difficult fight. This is supposed to show that, as capable as Kraven is, he's out of his league. This is a fight no normal man can win, no matter how skilled. That's why it's such a cool fight; it lets YOU be the boss for a minute, and considering how much of a threat Kraven was up to this point, it helps to show us just what we're going up against with Venom. I do think it deserves a high spot on the list, truly. But even then, I don't think it tops the Peter vs Miles fight. It may not be the most challenging fight in the game, even though I didn't find it easy, either. But I found it to be a fun, interesting fight, and where it lacks in gameplay, it makes up for with where it stands thematically, especially with how the symbiote arc had been built up to that point. THAT'S my personal number 1 boss fight.

In my opinion, I think that the venom bossfight against kraven, cinematically, thematically and story wise is close to number 1, but it's an easy fight(I agree with your explanation as to why it's easy, it's meant to show off how much of a beast venom is) and that's why I think in my opinion, although it was slightly easy too, either the miles bossfight against peter or anti venom against venom is number one, no doubt. The kraven fight against peter is number 2 in my opinion because it's harder and has more elements than the venom kraven fight, but cinematically speaking, the fight against kraven as venom is absolutely number one. Other than that I think he placed the scream fight a bit too high, I think that they could have done more with the character of scream rather than mj being scream for like 20 minutes, I think the sandman and especially lizard is better than scream

As someone who 100%ed the game on ultimate, Venom against Peter and Yuri are by far the two toughest boss battles. Venom is just so vicious in that stage that its not even funny (the Miles one is so much easier due to the environment and flying sections), I got such a jumpscare when he bit me the first time and how they made him vary between the crush and mandatory perry attacks was chefs kiss. The only small gripe I have with this boss battle is that they should have made it so that Venom does not trigger your spider sense if you don’t have visual contact with him, it would be canonicaly accurate and a very cool gameplay element. Conversly the Yuri battle severly limits your mobility due to the low cielling of the environment and is really something they should experiment with more in these games since most of the boss battles in all three games are kind of easy due to the major mobility advantage you have. This segways into my point about the Peter boss battle and ngl the dialogue and cinematics were 10/10 but the gameplay of it was soooo mid. Basically you are fighting a less powerful Venom. He in no shape or form matches your mobility which makes 0 sense and makes this battle so much easier than it has any right being. Making his web attacks more powerfull and having Peter use swinging and web strikes would have made this battle so much cooler. As is the boss battles in this series have been very underwhelming gameplay wise and it is so sad considering the rest of it is so excelent. I get it for the first game, but if you compare it to the Arkham series 3 games in we already had Mr Freeze, Ra’s and Desthstroke which are some of the best boss fights period. And here I’d say Peter vs Venom, Miles vs Prowler and Peter vs Kraven were the only slightly above average ones which again is such a shame for such an excelent game. Also I am not counting Venom vs Kraven as a boss battle, as that is a power trip and is in no shape or form chalanging even on ultimate you low diff Kraven which is the whole point as it makes you a bit anxious when you have to fight him later.

My favourite part of the Peter v Miles boss is using the bell against Peter after webbing it up as Peter in the Kraven fight I also how Venom’s “spider sense” uses the classic lines

The reveal with Mysterio was great, rehabilitating villains should work, and reintroducing supervillains should always be someone else taking up the mantle

After i finished it i found it so weird that peter said he never rehabilitated his enemies when sandman, tombstone, mystero, black cat, AND shocker (he was literally forced into every bad action in the insomiacverse) were all literally good people if not retired villains.

It's a shame that Insomniac didn't do the final phase with Venom, where we as Peter finally defeat him. And this would be more emotional, cause we nol only see Pete's emotions, but feel them through gameplay

@@samuraigames4125It’s funny how the artwork on the steel book is a normal miles and Peter fighting Venom in the city at night in the rain. Then the trailer with Peter and Miles fighting Venom in the city and they say I am Spider-Man. That fight didn’t happen either? Even the statue you get with the collectors edition. That is based of those trailers and artwork and yet that fight didn’t happen. That was what I was most hyped for. Let down in the end fighting Venom on a football field….

The boss battle in Marvel's Spider Man 2 are amazing. Not only better then the first 2 games but also challenging. My favorite boss battles: 1) Symbiote Spider Man vs Kraven 2) Venom boss fight 3) Lizard boss fight 4) Peter vs Miles 5) Venom vs Kraven 6) Miles vs Mr Negative

I absolutely agree that symbiote Peter is one of the best boss fight in the game, however I was also kinda disappointed by what we got. This may be subjective, but I would've liked a feature that could've made the boss fight even better. So I was hoping that once we get to the Symbiote Peter boss fight, we would be forced to choose a side and either fight Peter or Miles. I'm thinking of a mechanic that would take inspiration from Injustice 2 where we either side with Batman or Superman. I think having to deal with Miles' venom powers would be a fun challenge and we would have to web up the bell like during the Kraven boss fight. I even have an idea on how the fight would end if you side with Peter. Once you beat Miles, he would be badly injured and tries to appeal to Peter one more time while struggling to breathe. Peter then realizes what he's done and panics that he's become a monster. We then get the QTE where he rips of the symbiote suit and traps it in a container like in what we got. Afterwards, Peter is distressed that he hurt Miles and takes him to a hospital for medical help. At this point, Miles wouldn't be playable again until the mission where we team up with Martin Lee to go into Peter's mind. I know this may be a bit too much to ask and might be pointless since Peter gets rid of the black suit whether he beats Miles or not, but I think a boss fight where you pick a side would've made the game more unique and would make Peter (plus the player) feel more guilty for what he just did in the black suit.

while it is fun and a cool idea, i think it will break the balance between miles & peter and we all know most of us would probably choose peter over miles. 😂 also I think it'll give less impact to miles taking over in the ending scene.

While I would really like this to be in the game- It's unnecessary and would ruin the already kind of rushed story The whole point of the fight was Miles bringing Peter back to the light and Peter needing Miles as much as Miles needed Peter

I do not know how you had more trouble vs. Kraven as Venom than vs. LowTierLowenthal. I was playing on Spectacular Diff first time through and it took me at least 6 tries to beat Venom Parker. *_I packed up Kraven in like 2._* Still a great Ranking tho.

For some reason, i think insomniac want Miles to be the face of Spider-Man games for them. That's why he got the last boss figyt against Venom, and in general has more hero moments then Peter, as they attempt to shift Peter to the sidelines.

@@danzackblack5829 “During the venom boss fight with Miles and Peter at the end you can hit Venom as both Spider-Men in a QTE which I thought was really cool” Like he’s impressed by pressing square is some repeated animation cycle but ranks the sandman boss fight so low which is probably the only boss fight that actually did something different in the entire game. Only fight where we actually switch between both Spider-Men. Like the fact we didn’t get that as a fight with venom like in the cinematic trailer is a crime but at least the sandman fight had it. Then he ranks the venom v Kraven fight so high? Come on that was the worst boss fight in the game. I’m not counting nonsense like the MJ vs hulking symbiote because to call that a boss fight is an insult.

@@Ultimodestructico you're focusing on the wrong thing. The QTE wasn't what he said was cool, it was them both hitting venom, the QTE was just mentioned. The sandman fight was really cool, but in terms of gameplay it wasn't amazing. But anyways it's still good, he isn't saying sandman is bad, not in the slightest. Just that the rest are better in his opinion. But it seems like every fight except for the behemoth he thought was really good or better. Also the behemoth is a boss fight whether you like it or not lol Also kraven vs venom was insanely awesome

i agree w most people here that miles vs peter was the best boss fight. i remember pausing the game when i realized that as miles we were going to face peter bc i was that excited about the boss fight. i mentiones earlier im NOT sweet at this game. this is my first time playing and i wanted to enjoy the story. im not a god. and this is my first play station game so i kept it at freindly so i could learn the controls. but miles vs peter was such a satisfying fight. dont cancel me... but it was more satisfying than batman vs deathstoke in arkham origins. which is my favorite arhakm series battleDONT KILL ME. i loved that fight. but in my personal opinion. im someone who likes combat boss fights. not just run and id rank venom at #2. the only thing that i wanted mkre for that fight was if we had 2 phases w peter? 2 phases w miles THEN, if we got a final phase with both of them b4 we got to the quick time part where they just punch the shit out of him

I think the reason why people REALLY hate it is because it’s a main suit. My proof for this is the 10th anniversary suit, for a while, this was Miles’s main suit in the comics, and everyone hated it. But when you see people seeing it for the first time in this game as an alternate suit they go “it’s so fire” I feel like if the evolved suit was an alternate suit, people wouldn’t be hating on it as much.

How is that a hot take? It’s just an assumption. They’ve literally changed miles suit at the end of the game and it’s his new original suit. He’s also become the main Spider-Man in the story. That is his suit whether you like it or not. They aren’t going to change it.

now i would like to say this, WRAITH HAS TO HAD TAKEN FUCKING STEROIDS, HER FIRST PHASE, WHILE NOT THE WORST, STILL MAKES YOU DEAL WITH HER FAST TIMED ATTACKS AND WHEN EVER I TRY TO PARRY THEM, IT DOESNT WORK BECAUSE SHE HAS TIMED ATTACKS THAT REALLY THROWS YOUR TIMING OFF AS THE FIRST ATTACK MAY BE FASTER, WHILE THE SECOND ATTACK MAY BE SLOWER, BUT HOLY SHIT HER SECOND PHASE, YOU SEE I DID THIS BOSS FIGHT BEFORE THE LIZARD FIGHT, AND THE THING THE LIZARD FIGHT TEACHES YOU IS TO DODGE CRUSH ATTACKS, BUT SINCE I DID THIS BOSS FIGHT BEFORE LIZARD, I HAD NO FUCKING IDEA HOW TO BEAR THAT AS I AM USED TO PARRYING, NOT DODGING, OH AND YOU WANNA KNOW THE EVEN BETTER PART, also i will start using lowercase, i did this on ulyimate diffculty, why? becuase it for a sense of pride, i knew i could do it and i wanted to prove myself right, and guess how many fucking times i tries just to beat this boss, 43 times, oh yes, 43 fucking times, and thats only in the second phase, and i died in total 46 times, im just saying if insomniac didnt have the smoke part i probably wouldeve done it in like ten tries or less on ultimate difficulty

i don't really consider the symbiote brute a boss fight, and also i consider the venom vs miles and venom vs peter fights to be 1 boss battle Edit: Sandman deserves to be way higher on the list

Its weird to me that Peter and Miles' fight with Venom are counted as two separate fights but Sandman's isn't

Because with Sandman, the area you fight in doesn't change in the slightest, nor do the mechanics of the boss, so it's difficult to call that a separate boss over a character switch. But with Venom, when the fight switches to Miles, it is noticeably not the same fight as when we played as Peter. The environment you fight in, along with the attacks that Venom uses are completely different. It's safe to say that when you fight Venom as Miles, it is *not* the same fight as when Peter fought Venom.

Wait Wait Wait… something is wrong here. I am all for personal opinion, but how is Sandman the worst and Venom vs Kraven the best? I don’t even feel like I have to explain why this is flawed, because the other comments are doing it for me. Good video nevertheless and everybody has and is entitled to their own opinion.

The Sandman boss battle is pretty much only good for a tutorial boss and nothing more than that. Yeah that's why it's a tutorial boss dude. Then you are subjectively setting the standard how about what tutorial bosses expecting them to do more than what they actually are

Difficulty is hard to take into account. For me I did damn near all the side missions first except mysterio. so I steamrolled a lot of the story bosses. And Mysterio I did last and he was a joke. Honestly struggled with Wraith the most for some reason

This game is one of those games where the bosses should have different rankings, 1- in terms or storywise and narrative, and 2- the gameplay and difficulty aspect, then the whole ranking would change

Honestly I prefer the first game over this one. The game mechanics and graphics are better, but they butchering the boss fights. They felt so repetitive compared to the last game. I also prefer the story in the first game to. Still has a blast with this hell of a game though!

the boss fights were SO easy in the first game compared to spider man 2 and the boss fights are longer in spider man 2 all tho i will agree that the story was much better in the first game

@@Shahriyararin63 yeah i liked the combat and bosses much more but honestly in my opinion the story in spider man 2 was just mid had strong points don't get me wrong but it felt rushed once harry became venom and from that point harry just is evil all the sudden and wasn't fleshed out properly

15:40 imo its the WORST boss battle. Because we know how strong Peter physically and as SPIDERMAN. And with Venom suit he needs to be absolute chaos himself. I expected something like Starwars Jedi fallen order did that Darth vader was a "Boss" but not a Boss yk. No health bar and you try to get away from the situation itself. But Miles upperhands Peter like he is more experienced and he is just beating up some street criminals. Peter is SO weak in this game even his spider sense which is a :clown: move itself.

Spider-Man vs scream is the worst the fact that you had to fight her three times every time you beat her and her design is terrible and so is her voice cause she has good dialogue
