Insomniac Games has done a great job with its Spider-Man games, which is easily one of the best renditions of the friendly neighborhood webhead in video game form. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 continues on that well-established goodwill by creating an ambitious sequel that expands on those concepts in a meaningful fashion.
Apart from the gameplay, Spider-Man 2 is also a step up in the visual department as it presents its version of New York with markedly more attention to detail as well as raw visual fidelity.
With this graphics analysis, we take a look at the technical make-up of Spider-Man 2 and also graphically compare it to PS5’s versions of Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

@@alexandroswashere3089 Yea, I’m sure it has to do with the density of high resolution textures and lighting, maybe making more detailed faces would make the game lag a bit, that’s why faces are rendered at a way higher resolution in cutscenes but when you see them in gameplay, it’s a lot worse

Also they said 30fps removes fps drops so you stay immersed, but opted on several loading screens on everything you do. Super immersive. Watch a comment will say “the loading screen lasts 2 seconds” to defend it 😂

If you play Spider-Man and Miles Morales, you will not have "wow" and "whoa" in the new Spiderman 2. It is still an enjoyable game, no question about it. I don't like games like these with no new game plus at launch because once you're one hundred percent done with the game, that's it. There's nothing else to do, it's just a one-time deal. That's why I like new game plus when the game is released.

@@alexadshead2093 It's cheap on Argos for £479.99. Last month Argos were selling Playstation 5 for £429.99 with EA FC 24 as a bundle. Back in 2020 Playstation 5 was hard to find and Cex was selling it for £999.99. At least I got my Playstation 5 2 years ago and pre order Spiderman 2 Deluxe edition this week in Playstation network.

That's up to personal taste,but during flying in Forbidden West,as I understand it even PS5 version of Forbidden West had significant pop-in problems. I suppose that might have changed eventually. And here environments are much more complex in my humblest opinion.

The world is vastly improved from what I can see, but in cutscene quality of character rendering and certain lights and shadows just don't make sense or are simply not there. It's not an obvious issue or that it looks ugly, it's just that it for some reason doesn't look good enough for 2023 in quite a few instances. One of the move obvious issues is that characters have their mouths' rather very well lit, unlike the real world and it also uses that fake light that a lot of games use which makes everything look a little fake. Also Peter's face look weird and goofy lmao, I just got used to his face from the first game and MM, but here he just look plain weird like in that teacher scene, his neck is so fucking thick he could turn sandman into glass.

@@xtr.7662 Why. You have to Upgrade your PC to keep on with the Visuals of newer games and to use something like Raytracing. But thats not Possible for a Console. The Ps5 is good. But there have been Better PCs from 2020. And you can make a way better PC now. Thats why I thought something like that needs good Hardware like Raytracing won't be in 3 years later.

The Visually best games on Ps5 will come in 2026, 2027 and 2028. But they won't have Raytracing on consoles cause that needs to much power. And I thought that will be the case after 3 years.

If you ask me, the "graphic upscaling" trend wont stop. In some way, the gamer community becomed addicted and obsessed with graphic power. Every new itteration of Spiderman will try to top the previous one. Watching the gameplay and reviews, what I see is merely a "more realistic" game rather than a "different" or new game. SM2 looks just like the first one but with extra whistles. Sooner or later the gaming community will realize that better graphics/realism is not equivalent to a "good game" A good game has the objective to be fun. And games become "classics" not only for the fun they offer, but for the uniqueness of the art and lore. Im seeing non of that here with the new "better than ever" Spiderman 2. And its starting to worry me how the gaming industry is forgetting about this fundamentals. All I see with this "blockbuster" titles is how souless the industry has becomed. So, what im trying to say is that, given that the "value" is balanced mainly to performance and graphics, given time, gamers wont want to play previous itterations due to the fact "the prequels look washed out, saturated, have bad textures, the sunlight looks off" etc (paraphrasing what Im reading in the comments). This comments are revealing to acknowledge that the SM games [or whatever] were not "good games" to begin with. They were just a performance show off from the tecnology at the time. Thats were their value resides, and thats what gamers are buying. Reading the comments, gamers are more worried about how the game looks rather than the "game" itself. Its sickening. And its just screams "bad taste". What supposedly and originally was considered a masterpiece, now its "outdated" [talking about SM1]. And eventually they will believe the same for SM2, SM3, SM4 and SM5 while waiting for the "newest release". On the other hand, we have games that dont focus merely on graphics, but on being genuinely fun. Games that offer a unique experience, personality and lore. Games with a colorful soul. Those games become classics for decades, for years to remember. Gamers replay them over and over again. To conclude, this Spiderman games wont ever be "classics" due to the fact they dont offer ART. As soon SM3 releases, SM2 will be in the bottom of your trash can. Proove me wrong. Because tecnology always is improving on itslef, previous titles will rapidly be forgotten for the "next and newer" Spiderman. You are not buying a game, nor art, you are buying performance. And thats is sad to say the least.

Not necessarily spider man 1 is already considered a classic. And it was really the most technically impressive game that came out for ps4. It was because it had a good spiderman story and a good gameplay loop with probably the best traversal mechanics. Sure it doesn't do anything new or revolutionary but it does things better and more polished then previous spiderman games. Which was impressive since it came came from devs that are not used this this kinda of games.

For me theres no point on wasting my time on debating with a fanatic (that plays a game 18 times? Ok), but if you want to debate me, use arguments. Not emotions. Im firm on what I believe/study but im open to read your arguments. I never said Spiderman games are bad or boring. I said they will never be classics. And I said they mainly offered performance. On the other hand, they do not offer art. Playstation/Sony is first a tecnological firm. In second place is an enterteinment industry. Once you aknowledge that, you will notice that the Spiderman games are just that. They are just a perfomance showcase but with a game behind it. Like Spiderman 1, now we have Spiderman 2, then we will have 3, 4, 5, 6... Just like GTA. They will start to all look alike eventually. Why play GTA 4 when you can play the newest, fresher, bigger, powerfull, better than ever GTA 10!!! No one is playing GTA 3 or 4, because their value resided on graphics and performance, and now they are outdated. @@Wescon. It should be much much better, not just slightly better. The previous Spider-Man game released in 2018 and this is a copy and paste map with some added areas, and some new moves. Plus the set pieces of course. But they’ve had 5 years to make it!

Yes a performance mode which drops to below 1080p is definitely ‘the next big leap in graphics’ 🤦🏻

Resolution has nothing to do with graphics. The 4k resolution is still available

It's not good at all. The last Arkham game and somerthing like Devil May Cry 4 or Ghosts OT on last gen makes this looks mid.

Well they went more for an artstyle then just pure realism. Especially ghost of tsushima

Arkham Knight came out in 2015! And definitely looks better than this.

@@pressrepeat2000 it's city is definitely more color full but on technicalities spider man takes it. Characters faces on arkam knight look wierd and fall in the uncanny valley zone. There are no rt reflections and ambient occlusion can look pretty bad. The thing that really helps it is that it is always night. Dark lighting really helps at covering up imperfections. Spiderman on the other hand takles more harder lighting scenes and looks really good on multiple lighting. That's not to say that arkham knight looks bad. It's artstyle really help it out throughout the years and it was pretty ahead of the game when it came out.
