Storyline:-
After the events of Captain America: Civil War, King T'Challa returns home to the reclusive, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to serve as his country's new leader. However, T'Challa soon finds that he is challenged for the throne from factions within his own country. When two foes conspire to destroy Wakanda, the hero known as Black Panther must team up with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje, Wakandan special forces, to prevent Wakanda from being dragged into a world war.

I wish MCU did more fights like these. T'Challa was outmatched in strength and stature; he had no chance in a conventional fight, so he went for the ground grappling moves which equalized their height and removed M'baku's strength advantage. This display of tactics should also translate to superpowered beings instead of just making their fights chaotic slugfests.

I don't think T'Challa was "outmatched" in strength per say. He was able to crack the very same mask that had been assaulting him seconds prior. Withstood a blow to the chest with a spear, followed by stopping a second spear assault mid motion powered by brute strength...I think it was more of fighting style choices and how said power/strength was utilized

@@thednation927 no, I'm pretty certain M'Baku was stronger than T'Challa. He threw his body like a ragdoll while T'Challa struggled with his knock-down retaliations. Also, any athletic man can crack a wooden mask with a well-placed elbow, it's pretty easy. Everything else you mentioned was just plot armor or convenience. No seasoned warrior is going to let his opponent recite a sentence after stabbing him.

@@sidismo2903 hmmm, might agree to disagree. We look at physical stature and may assume M’Baku is stronger…but that’s not always the case. Also depends on how power/strength/energy is focused or used. Brute strength, going all out from the beginning vs more finesse and energy conservation…multiple factors

@@thednation927 umm, size and weight typically means more strength. Look at weightlifting and combat sports. Bigger athletes have the edge in those sports, assuming they have the same training, proportional nutrition, and tenure as their shorter and smaller counterparts. If not, then it's skill that will triumph, which is distinctly different from strength.

@@sidismo2903 size and weight don’t automatically mean more strength. I’m 6’3 325. If I have a regular level of agility and speed I could do some damage, but if I lack athleticism, move slowly or am uncoordinated; all that size pretty much is wasted and does nothing

T Challa wears mask like M Baku for this fight but not for fight with N Jadaka in later all because he was an outsider and did not know much of the traditions so T Challa also did the same. This just goes to show T Challa fights only when absolutely necessary and also does not completely follow traditions for someone who does not know them.

M'Baku's weapon in this scene is a two-handed knobkerrie, a cudgel/club usually made from a tree root that is a traditional weapon in certain parts of Africa and still sees some use today as a ceremonial item or improvised walking stick. M'Baku's knobkerrie is also infused with vibranium thanks to the meteorite, so it is as strong as steel. The knobkerrie itself was usually used in hunting but was also an effective and very nasty weapon in combat with humans.

So, here's a scene for the next BP movie. King M'Baku is sitting on the Throne of Wakanda, with little Prince T'Challa on his knee, and he's telling the lad a story. "I had challenged your father for the right to this chair simply because I could not accept that your aunt was in charge of this nation's technology. I had insulted your father at his inability to protect your grandfather, the Great King T'Chaka, who had perished in a terrorist's bomb blast, and was not your father's fault. I had disarmed him of his weapons, and left him defenseless. Just when I thought that I was about to defeat your father, that was when your grandmother, Queen Ramonda shouted at him, 'show him who you are!' Then, your father found the strength to break my hold on him and shatter my mask. I had even stabbed him in the shoulder with my staff, which was later broken by the fish man. But then, he told me who he was, pulled the staff out, kicked me in the head, and wrapped his legs around my neck in a stranglehold from which I could not escape. He could have killed me then and there. And after my earlier insults, he could not be blamed for such a decision. But instead, he showed me who he was. He pleaded for me to yield, that he did not want to kill me. I foolishly told him that I would rather die. He had me look at my warriors, and he told me that my people needed me. It was then, I wisely yielded. I tapped him on the leg, and he released me. That was who your father was, little prince. "
