Tbh he is doing the Bryan Singer type route which he is also fan and tbh it's not a bad route, you can have directors who aren't fans of the comics and adapt their own sauce, that's why the first two X-Men movies were successful but on the other, here, the problem is that they didn't do any research. The best way is to do like Ryan coogler, being fans but also try to tell a story also 😂where is Louis letterier on this comparaison that's pretty cute to choose the only good movies and compared to ''bad''one, shang chi was good but yeah
@brandonspain1234512 күн бұрын
Bryan Singer did admit he didn't read the comics (which ironically, his career would be defined by the genre) but he did appreciated the comics' allegories about Racism, bigotry, and themes of tolerance throughout the action. And actually did read the comics and plowed through all the animated series. And as he dug through the mythology, he discovered the characters are all reluctant superheroes and he felt their abilities came from their fragility, flaw or weakness. And the reason why the yellow and blue costumes were changed was because they wanted to get away from Batman & Robin's colorful and campy style. Making a smaller personal story, and setting it in present day, and making their outfits less colorful and "easy-to-make-fun-of" for their grounded world they were aiming for. On a side note, for many years, people argued nobody read the comics when they made Batman (1989) because it was very different from the comics. But that's not the case, Tim Burton and Michael Keaton were allowed to read The Dark Knight Returns and The Killing Joke (which Burton adored) while the other actors were forced to read the Bill Finger era comics, while Bob "the fraud" Kane would be on the set to make sure they didn't screw up. In fact, according to costume designer, Bob Ringwald, he claimed he was hired at the last minute because Tim Burton fired a previous designer because Burton wanted Batman to look like "Ratboy" or something gross and animal-like and WB was freaking out he was making his own Batman instead of the comics and Ringwald was hired to talk him out of it. Resulting in the Neal Adams inspired design.

I heard that the producer Nate Moore thinks that comic fans are a red flag because he wants writers that can be hard in the material which is bullshit because why not hire fans who understand these stories and characters because sometimes fans are more hard in the material because they know what sucks and what doesn’t and knows what will work when telling a new story based on the material.

I agree the MCU post- Endgame has it's issues but it has nothing to do with director's knowloge about comics. By this logic, Black Panther should have been a failure since Ryan Coogler express to hate for a character like T'challa, for being king of advanced nation and not use it's resources to help the world (something he use to create Killmonger's motivations as villain) Most of the adaptations, wheter they were sucessful or not, when to the basic of the stories, they nailed (ex: She Hulk was still a comedy about a lawyer who breaks the fourth wall, Shang Chi still a story about a son going against his father, Eternals still a story about space gods living among humans). Copying the source material isn't the same as adapting it, nor automatically makes it a good film/series. There's things that should be kept from comics, sure, but the writers should be allow have some creative liberty, for better or worse. Even the past MCU films did this with their projects like the Avengers (they replace Hank Pym and Wasp for Black Widow and Hawkeye) and Guardians of the Galaxy (who are very different from the 2008 comic version)

Kevin feige would encourage them to read the comics.
There has to be a balance you need a director and writers whose objectives are foremost making a good movie more than including fan service and without just telling the same exact stories as these aren’t comic books you get one shot to tell a 2 hour story that has to follow a structure BUT these are obviously based on a source material and a source material that has a fan base that helped their products The best directors the MCU has had are Jon Favreau and the Russo brothers as they did know the source material and were fans but were more committed to making good movies so in using source material they changed it to accommodate a 2 hour movie Otherwise you have a Spider-Man Lotus situation where some fans thought they could make a more accurate Spider-Man movie than Sony and Marvel yet just told the most basic story using well known comic stories and the movie said nothing important compared to the actual studio movies which may change stuff but they say something about the character
@thadmaster712 күн бұрын
Just because some of the newer writers and directors didn't read the comics doesent mean they don't care about making good movies, and it's not like most of them were told not to, not reading the comics was there choice. (Fun fact: Christopher Nolan never read any batman comics when making the dark night movies). There's also the fact that the directors of the new Daredevil have said they're reading the comics for it. Just because you didn't enjoy some of there recent works doesent mean they don't care. You don't truly know if that's the case. None of us fans do.

how did we go from Kevin Feige sneaking comics under the trailer doors for the X-Men 2000 cast to THIS? People who openly disregard or outright despise the decades of history that led to them getting the opportunity should NEVER be trusted with any adaptation. make your own stories and characters instead ot trying to put your own "spin" on established and beloved IPs. i hate to say it, but there needs to be a certain amount of gatekeeping to keep bad faith creatives away from these stories

I think Marvel and Kevin Fiege are too generous They want to broaden the MCU which isn’t a bad thing and they want to do this by having upcoming and coming, and exciting directors and people from different genres but a lot of those directors aren’t comic book fans and have just seen how successful these movies have been and figure they can get fame and fortune between projects and go back to a project that they want to make after Like when people ask actors in interviews if they’d want to be in Marvel movies and they probably say yes because the have heard how successful they are, how much money they make and how fun they are which is how people like Matt Smith and Dakota Johnson wound up in Sony movies because they tithes were Marvel movies
