In 1996, Marvel published a Star Trek/X-Men crossover. (The first of a few.) There was a memorable scene in which Nurse Chapel, surprised by the X-Men, cried out, "Doctor McCoy!" Bones and Beast both turned to look at her... then turned to look at each other.

The Fantastic Four couldn't appear in this series because Hanna Barbara had the rights and were doing their own Fantastic Four cartoon at the time. But you knew that.

It was so refreshing to hear you name off and describe each of the original x-men at around the 3:01 mark. I love how you said later on he would turn blue and furry and look like Frasier..in the vernacular, 'I died' when you said that. I like how Namor's voice is the same guy who did Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer's dad, and J. Jonah Jameson in the 60s Spidey cartoon. The talent and range of those old school voice actors is pretty cool, especially when I think they may not have made that much money.

Baxter Building without FF?

This will always be one of ny favorite of this Marvel series' episodes, and just like years later when the original X-Men cameod in a Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends episode, when I first saw this episode I was sure it was a sign of them about to get their own series. And just like then I and my friends were disappointed with wrong we were. As for Hank, his Silver Age pre-furred self and his Bronze Age blue furred selves have always been favorites of mine, but their personalities are so different that it always almost felt like 2 seperate characters; shame to have has to lose one to get the other; wish they'd just had his blue self be an entirely new character. Fun video as always.

If I'm not mistaken Edward G Robinson lent his voice talents for Dr. Doom. By this time in his career he was taking any jobs just to keep afloat.

Love that artwork! Namor can survive in space in his speedos? And redirect electricity? Has he ever done that since? You can tell those early comic writers had no idea these funny books would endure, did they? They pretty much just wrote whatever made the story work, thinking no one would really care enough to demand logic or continuity lol. Still, without these books, we wouldn't have the great stories, movies and cartoons we have today. Also, great video and narration!

Frasier Beast was the redeeming quality of the Last Stand. Bobbie ditched the boots afterthefirstissue, but I don't remember that he EVER wore trunks. I only remembered this story as a redo of Fantastic Four 6 (except with the X-men). The army of villains was a new thing. And Namor in FF6 was angry at Reed and company. This episode was wildly out of pocket.

Actually the story line was on Fantastic Four when Reed was marrying Sue.

I appreciate some OG X-Men action. I lve grown up in a post Giant Size X-Men world so this isnt the main roster of characters im used too besides the ones that carried over

This was the only Sub-Mariner episode worth watching. I still say Marvel should have chose Giant-Man to be the final character. Namor didn’t have enough stories to fill out 13 episodes so they made up some boring underwater generic stuff. Hank had his own book and they could have done more Avengers stuff.

This is based on the wedding of Reed and Sue. That's what actually Doom uses that device for. Mole Man launched an attack on Sue and Alicia. Xavier and the X-Men got there just minutes before Reed, Ben and Johnny and they pushed him back. The attacks and charge pose and cork defense are straight out of the wedding issue. Same with the other villains attacking. They just voiced and animated the actual panels. And Bobby (Iceman) did indeed wear boots. But not shorts. He would ice up over his clothes or uniform and then slip his boots on. Later on in his career, he wore thinner layers of costumes and boots and iced up over everything. The second part is an actual Fantastic Four story. The cartoon just replaced the Fantastic Four with the X-Men. Doom took the Baxter Building, with the team and Namor inside, just like this. Namor did attack surface dwellers, more than once, This dude needs to research his comics history. 😐

To be fair, Doctor Doom would have a hard time assembling some of those villains into a team. Half of them want to rule the world themselves. Maybe Doctor Doom should have invited Namor over for coffee instead. Subby then could tell him the problems of trying to keep Atlantis under his control given the bi-monthly invasions or coup attempts. Maybe there should be a "What If...?" where one of his plans succeeds. Then the Mandarin objects to him ruling China. While he's dealing with that, the Skrulls launch a new invasion, while the Mole Man makes a move. Meanwhile, any surviving heroes decide to launch their own counter-offensive. The body count might run high as Doom is willing to use lethal force, while I'm guessing if things were that bad, the heroes might relax their code against killing for Doom.

Super Skrull had a Russian accent.
