Man-Thing was one of the serialized short stories in Marvel Comics Presents, revamped and reintroduced in the late 80s, early 90s. But been around for much longer, and I believe he predates DC's Swamp Thing. I'm happy, that as an action figure customizer, I built myself a Ted Sallis Man-Thing, structured on a Mark Ruffalo Hulk figure, and light-piped his glowing red eyes. Lots of squiggly epoxy putty sculpting, 'worm' shapes to simulate weedy tendrils dangling from him everywhere.

Can we talk about Elsa? Does She already possess a healing factor or invulnerability? (I understand the Bloodstone grants that) but She took three massive head smashes by the Scottish Hunter and shrugged it off like Drax being dragged through the Berhert Forest on the crashing "Benatar". Then, her leg slash that Jack had to tourniquet for Her, didn't slow her down for more than 3 minutes. So, what gives? And DON'T cry "Mary-Sue".

This special is very similar to the mix of "The Wolf Man" 1941 and Clive Barker's "Nightbreed" 1990. I'm glad that the MCU is experimenting with genres and trying something new besides superhero movies. I liked black and white tone, the Werewolf himself, Man-Thing, Elsa Bloodstone and their interaction with each other. I also like how Jack is shown here, he is not the monster that hunters consider him to be and uses his Lycanthropy for good purposes: to fight crime and protect other monsters like himself, which creates an interesting contrast between monsters and people and makes you wonder who is real monster? In general, "Werewolf by Night" is a good and unique MCU project with a tribute to classic horror films. I hope to see them in "Midnight Sons".

He said there was no way Len was not aware of his story and lifted it. Before anyone gets too outraged Stan swiped the idea and look of Man-Thing from the long disused character The Heap that appeared in Airboy Comics in the 1940s. Visually a direct swipe.

Think a couple of the trophy heads were a Nosferatu vampire species and Sasquatch/ Tanaraq reference than big foot (have they now canonised Alpha Flight characters?) I think that the tapestry character looked more like Tarn the uncaring from X-men comic's than Gorr as we've seen Gorr looks dug in the MCU. Loved the way they dealt with the whole genre and feel of a old skool B&W movie. Believe Marvels phase 4 is more of a test every genre out there and see which takes with their variety of action, horror, sitcom, Sci-fi, fantasy magic genres etc that they've put out recently. Not multiverse more multigenre. If my thoughts are correct can phase 5 being a set of the ones that worked becoming consolidation of the ones that worked, hence the Secret wars film that will Bin or keep everything thats has or not made money for them.

I thoroughly enjoyed this, such an outstanding piece of art! The music and composition was out of this world and the story was captivating from start to finish. Even the jokes at the end where well placed and just added to the character of Jack. So Brilliant!

The episode quoted parts of Bram Stoker's novel. "You shall go first. The others shall follow" (instructions given to Jack Russell). Chapter 3 of Dracula has a line which goes as "" The first of Dracula's confederates gives leave for the third vampire to begin the assault on Jonathan Harker. "You are first, and we shall follow." In Chapter 16 of Dracula, "the others shall follow" is part of the instructions Van Helsing gives to Arthur Holmwood just before he stakes Lucy Westenra. So good.

I’m pleasantly surprised. Enjoyed it from start to finish. Loved the tone and Twilight Zone vibe. Great story and random event that didn’t need to explain characters. Everything was self explanatory. And it looks like MCU decided to debut BLOODSHED!

Gorr facing off against vikings in the tapestry on the corridor wall makes me wonder if they were originally going to use a more comic accurate depiction for him in Love and Thunder? As well as if the comic storyline including Thor's past on Earth could have also featured in the story for the movie at some point during development? Or its just a neat Easter egg! Also, could the monster seemingly in flames in the book possibly be a hint to Mangog or a reference to Sutur?

I just got done watching it and I absolutely loved it so much.. Seeing Jack Russell aka the Werewolf and Man-Thing was just awesome i couldn't get enough. Now I wanna see more of those characters again. This one off special was just perfect 👌 I give it 100/100 🐺 for Werewolf by Night. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ it gets Five Stars. Elsa Bloodstone is fantastic.

Charlie, Man-Thing predates Swamp-Thing, the funny thing is that Len Wein worked in Marvel and wrote a second story for it, then he left for DC and Swamp-Thing showed up a year later. Marvel never pursued any legal action, and we have 2 swamp creatures. Anyway, the movie that was done back in 2005 was done by Lions Gate and it completely changes the story, it went directly to video and barely anyone knows about it. This was a great short movie to introduce the Marvel Monsters, they had a great series of comics back in the 70's. Anyway great analysis!

I think they wanted him to look like the wolfman movie from 1941. It was an original & in black & white. A homage to it's creators. Fit well with the cinematography & the many other tributes they threw into this wonderful film

THE ONLY PART THAT THREW ME OFF: How CGI’d Man-Thing was when you first saw him… everything was so spot on, the textures of the set and the colouring on the black and white was perfect… but then you see Man-Thing’s face for the first time and it’s just a blob of black cartoony CGI and it threw me off a little. They should have made it a practical effect. HOWEVER, when you see his full body it doesn’t throw me off at all just that initial reveal looked “off”. Otherwise this show was FLAWLESS. Incredible. And I love that they phased it into color at the end, paying homage to the black and white of the OG comic while transitioning it into the broader MCU moving forward.

It's safe to assume when Jack said he's always saving Man-thing, explain alot. We know Man-thing was a Champion on Sakaar because his head was on the Grandmaster Coliseum in Thor Ragnarok. Jack must have rescued him from that planet as well.

This is my favourite phase 4 project. It would be Moon Knight, but the last episode of that show was pretty poor. Werewolf by Night was solid from start to finish. I can't wait to see what they do with characters like Blade, Ghost Rider, and now Man-Thing! I was honestly expecting Dracula to show up in this. So excited to see these super natural and monster projects if this is the quality we are going to be getting. Again: MAN-THING?! :D He looked so damn good in this! My favourote character in the show by far. Was not expecting him to show up. I cam't give this special enough praise. Also, I'm pretty sure one of the monster heads on the wall was Morpheus, an old Moon Knight villain. It could just be me remembering things incorrectly, though. Edit: Nevermind. That was just a vampire, not Morpheus. There are some similarities, though xD

What else did you expect? Jake Lockley is coming! He is also the most brutal and guilt-free of all the alters Marc has. That finale was perfect to me, cause Marc dealt with his DID and accepted who he is with Steven. Plus we know Khonshu has been doing this so long, the mf turned into bird bones overtime. Harrow and Ammit deserved that avatar-ass whooping. The bonus of getting the Scarlet Scarab's daughter is even cooler. So they both can join the Midnight Sons in the future.

@@murk4552 It was a very rushed finale with too much slapped into it which made everything too contrived and thin. Some stuff should have been a season 2 story. They wanted to get to the end, but didn't put in the time to get there properly and flesh things out.

I didn't realize this takes place in the modern day I thought because Verusa mentioned longevity to Elsa as a reason for her desire of the Bloodstone - that it was a sort of Chekov's Gun situation & it would explain why some of these characters could appear a hundred years later or so in the modern MCU Like Elsa looks the same & doesn't age because of the stone Jack looks the same & hasn't really aged because he's a werewolf & Man-Thing...well he's Man-Thing, I don't think his appearance would change much after a century

Surely someone said this, but all 5 weapons shown with the historic hunters appear during the special, with the crossbow instead being the hand device on Liorn. Elsa is shown besting/killing all the other hunters and Jack's mother tongue is Spanish, shown when he wakes up in the cage muttering something like: "damn, it can't be possible" or something to the effect of "damn, this can't be happening".
