How is it possible to write something so profoundly beautiful and perform it with such perfection. Stunning.

I always look at this song as another What's Going On which means, to me he did it just like this twice, did them differently enough and they both hit just as hard! Beautiful!
@jamesbondjr.854 жыл бұрын
Not written by Marvin. Written by the Frizzell brothers , for,and originally performed, by Donald Byrd. But this is an excellent version. Gaye and Byrd collaborated and it actually seems it would fit perfectly somewhere on the What's Going On album.

Marvin is my all time favorite. Not just due to his amazing voice, lyrics, and sound, but for his uncanny ability to see the future so accurately and depict it in his music. There will never be another artist like this. Truly one of a kind and one that let it be known that he understood hate, our anguish, pain, fears, doubts, and self-destructive nature. He replaced all of that with soul soothing hope thru his music. Thank you, Bro. Marvin. You are missed!

I've just heard the song today. And I'm 64 years old. I'm surprised because I never heard it before... He started all singing gospel I guess in all his career he never really stray from it. God is good. He was definitely in his lyrics and music...

This is real true music not like this crap that they be playing all the time in the radio. I'm 40 and Have to say there is nothing like them oldschool beats and soul. Being Chicano and growing up in da hood in Maywood Ca. Next to East LA back the day really brings back memories of how easy it was for us living the moment. This world is moving too fast! The new generation has no idea of there family tree or background? All they listen to is this new crap in the radio and don't even take time to have a cup of coffee with there Gpa's & Gma's to talk about the past of how they lived that era! Thank you uncle Marvin for leaving us these great tunes to listen and jam too. Peace!

Now wait a minute i thought this was an original by Donald Byrd back in 1973. I never knew about Marvin Gaye singing anything close to Donald Byrds classic. Although this is nice Donald Byrd put some hot sauce on that song.. Marvin puts his falsetto on it but still Dr Byrd owns this song...LB 5-2021
@andrewgrant8045 Жыл бұрын
He didn't do the original to Grapevine,Abraham Martin and John or I Want You either .I'm not complaining though because he had the utmost respect for those artists and did his versions of their songs distinctive justice.Unlike those who have taken his material .
