Yes. Love that such a profound song came from such a silly dude. He is really hilarious and even most of his other vocal stuff is more upbeat. I love this song it was my aunt's fav. And like ty I have heard it done by many different people. This is a pretty amazing version.

Mark is great. The entire Gaither band in engrained in our household. Awesome.

@@wheresatari6242 my mom loved them too and I listened to all the Gaither stuff with her. The big get togethers. It's something I remember fondly about her last years...she really enjoyed all of them. Guy Penrod and Jake Hess. Gaither crowd is some solid musicians.

@@lethiapage4767 Yup. The Martins, the Crabbe's, and Phelps and everybody. Pretty sure they called them homecomings or something along those lines. A few years back they came to Cincy. My mom and dad couldn't afford it since they're on a fixed income. I bought them tickets as an early Christmas gift, and she cried. They still do those old shows on the pbs and cet channels where I live and she always watches. Good times.

I love hearing Mark sing this on his own without all the background vocal drowning him out. This group with him was good, but his singing comes from his heart. It doesn’t really need any addition to make it “more”. I’d like to see MRM react to Mark Lowry singing “Nothing to Prove”. ♥️

i'm glad you reacted to this song. this is the best version i have ever heard. others have recorded this, and even Mark has done quite a few different versions, but he way out did himself this time! Mark Lowry wrote the lyrics, and so he isn't left out, i'll note that Buddy Greene wrote the music. generally, i don't care for a cappella singing, but here it is done to perfection.

Wow! I’m shocked at your reaction. Yes, we’ve ALL heard this song thousands of times. I grew up in the church...this was sung every year. Heard MANY choirs do it. BUT...I truly think you are missing something here. The connection and emotion in this song is unmistakeable. Surely has something to do with the fact the original composer was singing it. I don’t know...you really surprise me occasionally. Just seems like you aren’t “plugged in” sometimes that allows you to experience a song on another plane. And man, if you’ve heard it sung like that before, I’d love for you to post a link to the video.

If you want a Pentatonix song, their original Run to You is amazing. I basically told my boyfriend if he could possibly not talk over the song, and I just sat in the passenger seat with my eyes shut and was transported (no pun intended) the entire time. I’ve also listened to it while a plane took off and it was amazing. The harmonies!!! It’s quite an experience. The bass in particular, wowzers. 😂

This group is A-one professional and super talented. And Mark is no slouch either. He holds his own. I can't get over how long he holds that note toward the end. This is my favorite version of this song besides the very simple duet Mark does with Buddy Greene as the two creators of this song.

The featured vocalist, Mark Lowry, actually wrote the lyrics to this song. He said he had a lot of questions to ask Mary when he gets to heaven. He wrote a few of them down and sent them to Buddy Greene. Buddy called him back the next day and sang this to him over the phone. Mark had Michael English record it first, but has since done a few different versions of his own.

As soon as this video came on I recognized the lead singer but couldn't for the life of me remember how I knew him or where I had seen him before. So of course I had to Google him and now I know where I have seen him. He always sang with the Gaither's and I they use to have a TV show on really late at night and I would occasionally flip onto that channel and then watch for a while. Great voice.
@sussev7215 жыл бұрын
Bambam NJ, that lead singer was Mark Lowry who wrote the lyrics to this song. 7 years later, Buddy Greene wrote the music for it in one evening, called Mark and played what he had composed and sang it over the phone for him. Mark loved the music. Shortly after that they presented it to Michael English who was in the process of recording a Christmas album. Mark and Buddy took the song to him and he recorded it on that album, becoming the first of many singers who have recorded it. I will always prefer hearing Mark Lowry sing it though. It came from his heart.

This was nice. Yes lots of people cover it. Everyone seems to put their own twist to it. So something different would be for you to listen and react to some Redbone. I know I know I'm always asking but I swear you would enjoy it. They are so different from any other bacs from the 70's. In fact one of the founding members still performs as the group. Could you react to But Its Alright by Redbone? Others have done this but the lead vocals are tight. Thank you and God Bless

They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches int their hands."

The key difference here is that every sound you hear is produced by a human voice, not an instrument, not a synthesizer, not electronics, keyboards, woodwinds, guitars, violins, etc. etc...whatever. Some people appreciate that and most don't even know there is a difference.
