Mary Hopkin (born 3 May 1950), credited on some recordings as Mary Visconti (from her marriage to Tony Visconti), is a Welsh folk singer, best known for her 1968 UK number one single "Those Were the Days". She was one of the earliest signings to the Beatles' Apple label.

I was 13 years old, when I first heard this wonderful and memerable song. I´m now 66 years-old and, this great song from Mary Hopkin continues ti impress and delight me.

Песня явно Маккартни, пропитана его музыкальностью. Так же, чувствуется Маккартни в аранжировке песни "Дорогой длинною" в исполнении Хопкин, особенно присутствие фагота и виолончели, за версту отдаёт "Сержантом Пеппером". Из ТЫСЯЧ свои песен, услышал у Мэри в голосе исполнение этого шедевра. Маккартни - гений.

@@peterm1826 She won the TV programme Opportunity Knocks, I believe it was Twiggy who saw her and recommended her to Paul McCartney

Only in the video because he wrote it. Loved the beat club episodes should have kept DLT off it he had to interrupt every artist who appeared on the show. GOBBING off all the time I DIDNT usually watch it if he was the DJ.
