As we continue our extended tribute in honor of Mary Tyler Moore, tonight, we look back on the SAG Awards. Five years ago tonight, on January 28. 2012 on TNT, the Screen Actors Guild awarded Mary Tyler Moore the SAG Life Achievement Award. Dick Van Dyke was presenter... a very special night.
This video clip is presented here on KZfaq for the entertainment and informational value of the viewer, and no copyright infringement is intended.
Thank you Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore.

I love when Dick says "I'm just a presenter" to the standing ovation. If I remember, Dick himself was the honoree the next year. RIP Mary, one year later, you are still missed. Thankfully, Dick is still with us.

A lovely lady who loved and advocated for animals and helped feed millions of lonely homeless dogs and cats. She also helped them get adopted, God bless her.

I agree 100%. It is also so cute how they both admitted to having a crush on each other and that if they were available at the same time, they would have dated.

I remember when I was first married in the late 70s , every night I had dinner really and my husband had to bring Mary to the table by putting out little Panasonic b+w tv on the table. He always brought her to every dinner. ❤️ Dinner with Mary.

Wonderful actress. As a foreign student of English at the University of Delaware, I chose her show and Lucille Ball's to do my final work on American Culture. I got 9.8. Thanks, Mary. R.I.P

She warned us with this appearance didn’t she . Obviously having sight problems and unsteady in her feet she presented her lovely self to accept and let all of us know how much her life in tv and movies meant to her . Her passing was still hard to take , one never worried about Mary Richards alone in that big apartment . She handled life’s curves with stoic optimism and with that smile . Her talent and class are unmatched . She has left a body of work that funny and intelligent . Thank you Mary !

At this point she was unable to walk due to her diabetes. They pushed her onstage in a wheelchair during the video package then stood her up at the podium. She could only stand for short periods. So sad and cruel for a dancer to lose the use of her legs

I never tire of watching this gracious woman talk. I never tire of seeing her real fans give her very deserving accolades. As with others, I have gotten innumerable laughs and smiles from her work, her talents and her willingness to be a trailblazer. The here and now was better for you passing our way and the great beyond no doubt welcomed you with wide opened arms. Smiles to you always Ms. Moore.

Honestly I don't think there was even one person in the room that hated her. Not even one. And that was rare for Tinseltown. You can sense the genuine excitement and heartfelt appreciation they had for Mary. I believe a lot had to do with the way she treated people and her glowing reputation. So well deserved.

She was a reserved woman who had a way o touch your heart reading between the lines of a story about signing up for SAG . She brought up how much she respected her father, how her. Name was a recognition to the ideal of becoming a professional from the day she joined SAG. After all her struggles , she never let those struggles drive her car. As in opening credits of her show 1970 she driving her car alone with. A smile of anticipation. Of her life asMary Richard’s and in last scene of the series she’s the last one out of the set/ office looking around with a sad look but she turns her head forward looking to the future with an appreciation for the past with the.hat smile of anticipation as in the beginning f,re-edits when her show started. She had a way of making us realize life is a one way ticket and to make the most of every day, she certainly did and did it with dignity and class.

I see the "younger generation" looked so hateful at her. I wouldn't cross the street to see any of their movies anyway. The class in Hollywood is NO MORE! The Oscars proved that on 2/24/2019. RIP MTM! Thanks for the joy and entertainment.

I had never heard the story of how she came to use Mary Tyler Moore. It’s interesting that she had tried out for The Danny Thomas Show, but he decided against her because her nose was too small. He thought no one would believe that she was his daughter. When the DVD show was looking for Rob’s wife, Danny Thomas said how about that girl with the three names? And that’s how MTM became Laura Petry.

Every heterosexual male in the good ol' USA from the "baby-boom" generation (very much including me) was "in love" with MTM at some time. She was the perfect embodiment of grace, beauty, sweetness, and talent and the gal - I mean woman - any normal, sane man would want to marry. She was - quite simply - the greatest. To the (presumably) 19 people who gave a "thumbs down" to this video at this writing, I have some unsolicited advice. Get help. You must really need it.
