I use them little baskets when I walk in the woods behind our farm, I fill it with fiber an hand spin on a drop spindle while I am waiting for my little chihuahua Bon Bon to piddle lol

Back in the day-multiple plied yarns that have two or more colored plies spun together were called Ragg Wools. They made fantastic boot socks.

I took my mom on Sunday. The weather was still awful but what a great festival. So many demonstrations, from farm to yarn, a great variety of sheep breeds and good carnival foods.

I went both days. Sunday was much better weather wise. I came home with great wool!

MD has an alpaca festival in the fall. Also, check out Frederick MD next year! We have Magpie Fibers and the Knot House in a very cute downtown! And it’s about the same distance away from the show :) I hope you come back next year!

It looks like a fun yarny day. I can’t wait to attend a yarn festival in the future 🧶🧶👍🏻👍🏻🧡 Loved the urban girl yarns 🧶. That’s my color. Orange 🧶🎉🎉Tabula Rosa 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡. Kitesurfing 🧶🧶was beautiful too!!! The Loops yarn will make a beautiful sweater. I agree your mug is lovely.

Even with the cold weather it’s worth going to MDSW. Sad I missed it this year, but will look for you next year! Tess yarns is always my favorite booth but will look for the favs you found this trip. if the weather is good, the crowds are MASSIVE, so although you froze, maneuvering through the booths was manageable.

You should definitely go next year. I go every year and went Saturday too. Much more enjoyable when it is not cold, windy, and misting. There were a few less vendors in the field than usual.

We live in Baltimore and were at the festival on Saturday! Unfortunately we missed you, but if you come back next year, I'd be happy to share some suggestions on where to stay that are very nice and much more fun than Inner Harbor!

This is my favorite yarn festival. I went with a list and a goal to find Gotland yarn, but I didn't get to all the barns as I got too cold and wet. You may want to stay in Frederick, Md next year. There are a lot of trendy restaurants and little shops downtown as well as 2 yarn shops, the Knot House and Magpie Fibers flagship shop.

Thanks so much for letting me go to the festival with you!! I have been going since a child but had to miss this year! So glad you survived Baltimore 😅 I'm a local. Fell's Point or Harbor Point are where the more popular tourist hotels are. White Marsh is not near the water, but a safer area. I would watch Toaster!💜

Hi Natalie. Thankyou for showing us the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. I love the little bag you got and thought it could be used to put your cut off yarn as well after weaving the ends in =. Also I sew sometimes and could be used for the cut off threads as well I like it can be used for a sock project as well on the go. I love the Weeones stitch markers as well.

Next time you stay in Baltimore, see if you can find a dog friendly air bnb in the Hampden neighborhood. Lots of great shops (some have closed since 2020 sadly) and restaurants/bars. Very walkable and pleasant to wander around.

I'm a fairly new knitter, live in Maryland, and, like you, didn't know about the Maryland Sheep and Wool festival. BUT, I often pass by the Howard County fairgrounds where it's held, while traveling on I-70. Well, that Saturday, while driving on I-70, I saw this huge sign to the right, advertising the Sheep and Wool Festival, and I got so excited (and also, since I'd somehow never even heard of a sheep and wool festival!!) I decided to go the next day, on Sunday. It was super muddy, but I had sooo much fun there, and plan to go again next year!!

Inner Harbor near the aquarium is a really nice area. I can’t speak towards safety of the area though. I know I have some family who refuse to be in the area after dark.

Cottontail Farm is a favorite of mine. I have one of their Harris Tweed project bags and it’s probably my favorite thing that I’ve splurged on (besides yarn of course 😂).

I can't remember the number, but it was posted somewhere that there are significantly more vendors at Maryland than in Rhinebeck. But Rhinebeck is more spread out so the area is bigger and maybe makes the show seem bigger?

I was at that year's show. Very squidgy! To the point of assorted vehicles getting bogged down and needing towtrucks to get out. Just an overload of yarn colors, types, weights.
