Mase was an instant star because think about how much he stood out at the time. He had this really laid back, chill rap delivery and at the same time he was fun, likable, with an adorable smile and flashy style. He was so different from other rappers around that time! Plus after what happened with Big and Pac we needed to have some fun!

This song represents the beginning of the Decline of Hip Hop. All flash and shallow arrogance with lyrics about nothing. I remember the late 90s quite sadly. By 2003, with the exception of a few Rawkus artists and Soulqaurian movement (Mos Def, Common, Outcast, etc.) Hip Hop was a vast wasteland.

Mase gets a lot of flack for being a pastor and returning back to rap but I remember as a kid back in 96-99 Mase was *BIG* and I don't think he gets the credit he deserves for literally putting Bad Boy on the map after Biggie died, I remember myself and many kids wanted to be Mase too that we even wore our baseball caps like him LOL
