It’s been 10 years since this comment and I’m still mad at how all these cars were crushed. Such a hair-brained idea. I still see all of these cars from this video out on the road. All those used parts gone. all those cars that today would be cheap transportation for young adults. 677,000 cars needlessly destroyed

Yeah, that's what's surprising me. Everyone's angry at seeing that thing traded in for CFC, while I'm here wondering how the owner managed to get the dealership to accept that car in the first place given that the cars were supposed to be running. It might be the only "special" car I'm not frustrated to see it taken in for CFC: even if it weren't traded in, it wouldn't have survived anyway. Nobody wanted it either way so it's not much of a loss lol, except maybe as a parts car

I'm sorry, but if I was the owner of THAT dealership, I would have easily picked up some piece of crap off Craigslist or the junkyard and had that written off as the clunker that person traded in, and sold that Maserati for twice,,,, if not 3-4 times the amount of 3,500 dollars.....shiiiiittttt.

The car was 25 years old. I'll bet it was something simple like a bad fuel pump, clogged fuel filter or dry rotted vacuum line. But then, no one ever said the car was actually crushed. The car looked almost perfect. Ill bet the dealer drove it around back, fixed it, and kept it for himself..

I know the Biturbo history very well...while they had their 'issues' this just proves the point, that most of the cars referred to as 'clunkers' are no where close to how people would classify one. The whole clunker program was a waste of the taxpayer's money & a lot of good cars with lots of miles left in them were trashed. Sad to say, but the real clunkers are still on the road!!

I hate to say it, but it's probably best to put the poor Biturbo out of it's misery. Maseratis are nice cars, but unfortunately the Biturbo was not one of them. It came out of an era in Maserati history where Maserati had no capitol to properly produce anything. Ghilbis, Boras, Mareks, and anything built before them are some of the greatest Italian cars ever built. The new Maseratis are also nice cars, and back on form to what a Maserati should be. Biturbos, Quattroporte 3 and....

I don't think you understand. You see, mechanics were forced to kill these cars. The mechanics work for their own living, plus family, too. Quitting would put them at risk of not finding a job, and unable to pay for food. As bad as it is to kill fine cars, they also need to feed themselves and their families, and quitting isn't an option.

257,000 jobs have been lost in the automotive manufacturing industry due to severely decreased NEW car sales which fucks the economy as a result of the current economic climate Whether or not the cars are new, people are still going to need parts and labor due to accidents. As for the affordability of new cars, payments on a new car are usually much lower for the price so in the form of a monthly payment a used car isnt even that much cheaper.

These cars had zero resale value when they were 15 years old, even less now. The Maserati dealership probably laughs every time someone calls for parts. BTW, there wasn't even a Maserati dealership around 15 years ago. Before Fiat/Ferrari rescued the brand, nobody wanted a Maserati much less a bi-turbo, they make Fiats look like Lexus reliability by comparison.

In the mid 90's, there was a semiliar campaing, but at least nobody need to break the car, it has to be brought to the junkjard. But the guy from the junkjard could take out parts for resale. So we guy rebuild old cars, got at least a better spare part source then...... But all those nice grandpa cars, 20 year old, 50k miles and no rust went into scrap for a new palstic toy....
