Nothing can bring on a fit of nostalgia faster than wistfully remembering some of your favorite candies you ate as a kid. It’s hard to get kids today to understand that they just don’t make candy like they used to. It can be difficult to explain the exhilarating feeling that accompanied opening a piece of Bazooka Joe and reading the comic wrapped around the near-jaw-dislocating piece of gum inside. However, it’s probably best that they are blissfully unaware of how cool you felt “smoking” a candy cigarette. In this video, we’ve compiled 17 old-school candies that should make a comeback.
#OldSchoolCandies #Candy #Sweets

Bazooka brings back some great memories for me. Our barber would always end our haircut with the line, ”how about a chew, Hammer?” And then he would give us a Bazooka bubble gum. My brother and I often discuss this very fact when talking about our well liked barber who past 4 or 5 years ago. Funny how such a small gift can instill so many pleasant memories. One of my brothers kept his hair short, like me and got to go quite often to keep up with the tales of Bazooka Joe and blow some bubbles. Such great memories of the barber shop.

I remember a small mom and pop gas station in my town that sold candy, chips, soda pop and other snacks, my favorite things were a maple flavored fudge wrapped in cellophane about 2inches by 4 inches and about a half inch thick. Bazooka bubble gum sent me to the dentist's office at a very young age twice a yr. starting at age 4. I ate tons of that gum. Thank goodness as I aged I stopped chewing gum because I didn't want it to loosen my fillings. Note: All the candy people are mentioning I brought and ate, I'm thankful I still have teeth and that was due to constant brushing. As an adult, my home is still filled with sweets,. I don't eat as much but, I will always love candy.

I liked the red candy on a stick that looked like a candy apple! Remember the drug store candy counter? Decisions, decisions! (Just like all the choices in the old coke machines with GLASS bottles - you envied the cousin who lucked out and snagged the bottle with ICE around the top, it was so cold!) Ah, the good old days. Pink peanut patties, baseball card bubble gum with that large sheet of gum, warm cashews and large bags of popcorn on Saturday mornings at the dime store. I love the old dime store in Branson, MO with the old candies and toys. You should go!

I can’t remember the name but I use to love this Taffy that was at least a foot long & it was striped & came in a waxed paper package. It was about 25 cents! Most expensive candy I bought! My lunch was 25 cents a day & I would save the 8 cents up &’then go to the little mom & pop store that was right next to my school & I would buy all the candy I could afford! I liked the little packets of Lick ‘m Ade & Pixi sticks, the dots that were on strips of paper! Then there were the little wax bottles with flavored juices in them! Plus the bubble gum!!! My parents never allowed me to have any kind of candy! They would tell me that it would make my teeth rot! I saved my 8 cents milk money & bought the junk!!! I’m the only one in the family with good teeth!!! I’m 66 & have perfect teeth! My parents & brother all had bad teeth! Mom had dentures at age 25, my dad at age 40 & my brother had the worst over bite you ever saw, wore braces for 10 years!!! I showed them!!!! I still buy all those favorites when I can find them!
