Damn that microphone sounds really damn good for 25 dollars.

Modmic definitely sounds more focused, and like it won't pick up as much background noise, but for the price the Minimic definitely performs super well.

This'll save me a ton of money compared to buying a boom mike, mic arm, and audio interface, lol. Will definitely be using this for now until I save up more money.

I prefer the magnets on the modmic rather than the velcro on the minimic. it's seems like the velcro will wear out so wouldn't​ last very long.

It sounds kinda hollow, but okay for its price. Though I think the V-Moda BoomPro is far better quality if you have the correct headphones to accommodate it.

Lots of purchasers on Massdrop are saying the mounting on this thing is hot garbage. The tape doesn't stick very well and the velcro wobbles or comes undone with a slight tug on the cord.

They sound just as good considering. I'm almost upset that I bought​ a modmic before finding out that this thing exists.

recently ive decided to get rid of my steelseries arctis 7 and venture into the the land of head phones + mic for gaming, orginally i was going to buy a modmic, until i searched a local auction page and found the minimic for sale, id never heard of it so im really happy i found this video, first off id like to say thank you for this content! its literally the only content on youtube so well done, secondly id like to say that youve helped by decide to buy a minimic and save some money... when i listen to this video i cant hear much difference between the minimic and whatever mic you are using for production, which i imagine is something fairly decent! while the modmic sounds a little muffled! at the end of the day they all sound pretty good, but that said thanks for the video and helping me to make up my mind

Just purchased them after seeing this video for my Vive headset. I was previously using a Modmic and the difference, while subtle, is enough for me to give it a try. The cheaper price also helped.

a lot of people are commenting that the minimic sounds better, i think that although it sounds clearer the modmic is probably more effective at background noise cancelling.

i am gonna pick one up, the first thing i would do though is use cable ties to join the mic and headset wire together

I made my own for $1.82. One dollar for locking velcro pads(same as what this uses), 82 cents for the mic off Ebay from Hong Kong.

I have the mod mic 5 wireless and i just got this minimic a few days ago and the dude is right in windows i have to turn it up +30db and it sounds Great. The only things are: one the adhesive feels like it will be ripped off in a few months if you repeatedly take off and put back on the mic and the cord is SUPER THIN almost too thin, literally the thinnest cord i own. Would rather pay like 2 -5$ more for a 2x or 3x thicker cable

I have to assume that the Modmic 4.0 you used is the unidirectional version. Should have mentioned in the video that the Minimic is omni, and generally omnidirectional microphone capsules sound better than unidirectional. Also would have been nice to know other audio components, and windows sound settings. I find that for most VOIP programs I'm stuck having my modmic 4.0 on 100% with 10dB boost. This means that even though it probably has the potential to be rather quiet with background noise, you'll now easily hear mouse clicks and typing on my Cherry MX blue keyboard.

Which ModMic are you using to compare to the MiniMic? Omni-directional? Uni-directional? IMO, the Omni-directional sounds less muted than the uni-directional.

Why are mics that you stick on your headphones popular when V-MODA can stick in with the 3.5mm jack to have on wire instead of two?

Just ordered mine, was going to get a mod mic 4 but this is way better! Sadly it says it will ship September 21 :( oh well Just got it! sounds amazing and was very easy to install. Would recommend!

love my mod mic still but FML that cable is like a nightmare! No matter how careful i am to not twist somehow it still ends up being tangled 50 times around the headphone cord!

Modmic sounds better objectively. The highs are less harsh. But at $25, the minimic is definitely the better value and blows 95% of gaming headset mics out of the water. Definitely buying this.

The negative part to this is when the drop happend they said the mic won't come in till september and that still doesn't mean it will even come in september then you might as well buy the modmic.

I just joined the dropped a few days ago and its now being shipped. Not gonna lie, the antlion mod mic is nearly 100+ dollars here in singapore. and this was my first massdrop purchase. i didnt even think twice and jumped into it. 10mins later i regretted it because i had no idea about the quality. a few days later and they sent me an email saying its being shipped to me. And my regrets got bigger as i thought "oh shit how much quality would a 25dollar mic give anyways". after watching this video, im so fucking glad i jumped into the drop! (p.s i moved to ATH M40X headphones. Previously used the G430 by logitech but it got dirty and old.)

They both sound good, only issue is modmic sounded very low? I have the modmic and it doesn't sound that low lol.

would have been nice to listen to the mic without you commentating, so we could hear out for any hissing (static) sounds, also to listen to how well it actually picks up background sounds

This doesn't quite seem like a fair test the minimic is brand new but the mod mic 4 isn't the most recent model, it's like comparing an iPhone 7 to a galaxy s6

Ummmm big problem with the modmic test. Is your 4.0 uni or omni directional? because if its uni directional it needs to be on the left cup. Otherwise its facing outward not towards your mouth. Someone correct me if I am wrong. But im pretty one of these is on the wrong side.

I think the Minimic is better value, but the Modmic is better at eliminating background noise... Also I already have the Modmic 4, so I wouldn't get the Minimic but I'm going to suggest it to my friend who's wanting ro get a decent headset

Wouldn't Velcro be more wobbly and more likely​ to pull off the adhesive because it take more force to remove?

Is this minimic detachable to any headset? Can u attach this little detachable mic to any headset? Since it looks like it needs to have that same type of texture or what i should say on the headset to be able to attach the mic (u know that texture at 1:36)

The minimic is pretty good, but the modmic is definitely better. The modmic is much better at blocking out background sounds, and it just sounds more pleasant imo.

Minimic sounds a lot harsher on the high end and hasn't got that great of a low end compared to the modmic while the modmic sounds more full and rich with pretty balanced sound

bro the minimic low key kinda sounds better than the modmic 4.0

ModMic is way better!...That minimic has to be set to max on the controller to be herd, voice sounds too harshly sharp and loud for the ears, no filter at all with crazy background noise and that Velcro will eventually fail on you. Save yourself the trouble possibly waiting about 1-2 Months just to get a cheap product product from Massdrop and go get yourself a ModMic!
