Camodo, If A ship is listing, the standard procedure for launching lifeboats is a little bit different. Depending on which side the ship is listing depends on which side you can launch. If the ship is listing to the port side, you can't launch the lifeboats on the starboard side and vice versa. So if it is listing on the port side, the procedure is to bring the lifeboats out then launch them and have people climb onto them when there in the water. So the traditionally you can't launch them by moving the Davits so you launch them without people then you load everyone on.

@Bob Barth Why do you have a problem with long comments? They are just characters that you read. Why get annoyed at them? They hold useful and sometimes fun information. Long comments are usually really interesting and, yes, you can just scroll past them and not be rude to the creator of said comment.

Another sadly abandoned thing is the MD-160 ekranoplan, however this one seems to have a brighter future as a display piece in a museum.

Short bit of history: The normandie was a real French liner however, since Americans were, well, Americans, during Normandie's conversion to a troopship, it caught fire, and boom, capsized.

That is a fictional ship. SS Normandie existed. It was a luxury French ocean liner. It was commissioned in 1935, and it was going to be used as a troop transport ship in WWII after being docked at New York for a several months. However, in 1940, the wood-made furniture inside the ship caught on fire. It was before the conversion to the troop transport ship was completed. The ship was lost after 7000t of water was poured into the ship. So, the version for this creation didn't exist.

Brilliant! Love and miss the sinking survival challange! Maybe you should get stuck in the ship and Frantic or O.B. can rescue you from the bottom of the sea? I did it with a big ship, was stucked in the interior in an big air pocket. Dark, creepy, fun! A friend got down with diving equitment and mini submarine.

@@mwolfgr01 oh, it definitely isn’t. it’s a fictional portrayal of the SS Normandie’s potential post-war form (she was intended to be requisitioned and owned by the Americans during WW2, before she was lost in a fire).

Camodo the reason the fire was not in the engine room is because in real life the fire broke out in a dining room after an accident one day. After that dining room caught on fire the fire fighters managed to put the fire out, but there was an uneven balance of water because the fire boats were putting in more water than the fire trucks, thus causing a severely uneven list towards the water which would ultimately result in her demise.

That ship is actually the SS United States, a ship that was made after WW2 to replace Normandie. It was made to be fireproof due to Normandie burning and capsizing.

SS United states is similar, but this is fictional. You got you're facts right though. The differences include that Normandie was bigger, had much better patterns and Art Deco, and SS US had a flat superstructure, with slight curves at the bridge wings, while Normandie had a completely curved front with the bridge slightly set back.

Yes, yes I do want to see sinking Tuesday more. And.....did anyone do a build of the Sultana? We do have disaster sinks so having an old steamboat suddenly explode and catch on fire would be a neat one to see. Not sure if one exist. Oh Normal Commenter built a mission with it. Neat.

Ok so The real SS Normandie burned and sank in 1942 This is a hypothetical version of what might have happened if the ship had made it through the second world war and been gifted to the United States as a gesture of thanks from France I know this because I was the one who suggested the idea to the creator.

The Normandie sank and capsized in New York during WW2. This looks like if the Normandie and SS United States had a baby. Normandie is probably one of the most if not the most beautiful ocean liners to ever exist. Normandie also had 3 Funnels irl

Technically you have both buttons the fire problem and the capsizing button it wasn't just the fire that caused the ship to sink you also hit the capsizing button

Comodo how did you spawn this ship in the game, I downloaded it and I've been having no luck getting the ship to spawn. i even followed the instructions in the description of the game and I still cant get it to work.
