Chainsaws have a hold on me, they just do. I love runnin' 'em, workin' on 'em and listnen' to 'em. For me, there always seems to be a "deal" that I can't pass up. Free or pennies on the dollar, I'm there. This video highlights some of my more recent acquisitions. Most of the saws have issues that I'll need to work through before I can get them back in the wood. Projects, I love projects!
I'm running out of room in my shop to store all of my saws. I've got to come up with a better storage system if I'm going to continue to bring these old vintage saws back to life. Right now, I'm thinking of installing a pole in my shop, cutting slits in it, and storing them with the bar in the pole. This will get them off my workbenches so I can actually get work done. If you have any suggestions on storage, please let me know in the comments.
Thanks for watching!
If you were entertained or learned something, please consider subscribing, sharing the video, or maybe giving me a like. It all helps, and I sure would appreciate it!

Don’t stop if you are running out of room! LOL. My shop is also getting packed more and more, I can’t pass up a good deal. I have 3 of those Homie 150s.

Ha ha ha, you and I suffer from the same sickness I think. Since that video, I've picked up another 10+ saws. Like you said, I can't pass up a good deal. Those 150's are odd looking, but SOLID little saws!

On the 028 it could be a crankcase leak, things I would check would be crankcase bolts, crank seals, intake boot and impulse line. If this is going to be a long term hobby look into pressure vacuum testing crankcases. The tools are a little pricey but can save A LOT OF TIME

You may be right; I haven't really torn into it yet. It does seem like every time I tear into a saw, I go a little deeper than before. Like you said, I may need to look at vacuum pressure tester in the future.

It's a slippery slope, this chainsaw addiction. I'm editing a video now that I'll upload later today on 11 saws that I just added to my collection. You will have saws hanging from the trusses and in every nook and cranny before you know it...ha ha ha.

There is always room for one more chainsaw. I had over 300 chainsaws, I sold all but 15 back in 2015 now I am back up to over 30 again. they are definitely hard to work around in the shop.🌲🪓🪵

Ha! I think you're right. I was going to hold off until after the first of the year, but I'm looking again. The solution, a new storage method. I can't imagine working around 300 saws! That must have been some sale in 2015!!

Short piece of 3mm fuel line and a couple grub screws will solve your tank vent problem.

Receint subscriber. XL 12's are my favorite also. Run out of room? I have 25 hanging on hooks from the celing of the man cave. and at least a 100 more piled in a school bus. ( need to buy more hooks) My father in law bought a 150 new in 1972. his was blue.
@EightWheelsRollin
@EightWheelsRollin 9 ай бұрын
Dang...125 chainsaws, you beat me! I seriously thought about hooks, but I run all my saws, so they have fuel and bar oil in them. With my forge and other machinery in the shop I can't have them marking their spot everywhere. A school bus..hmmm..don't know what the wife would think about that...ha ha! What are your thoughts on the 150? Solid saw?

@@EightWheelsRollin I suppose it was a good saw? I laughed at it. Because at that time I had just bought a brand new Xl 923. That 923 cost me $242 in november of 1972.

Well I be , I've just bought two busses , gonna make a tiny home out of one and take the other and make a work shop out of it and as soon as I can get the seats out of the work shop I've got about 50 or so saws I need to put in it . I'm not sure how many saws I have haven't counted them but lately I've got a pile in my garage that keeps getting bigger and probably 20 or so I've already restored on a self and scattered around the garage .

I'm with ya. If you had just bought an XL 923, I can see why you'd be laughing. A 923 for $242...man, I take that deal all day every day!@@thecollectoronthecorner7061

Hi, what do you use to clean the saws without damaging the patina ?
@EightWheelsRollin
@EightWheelsRollin 4 ай бұрын
I use WD40 on all my saws, works like a charm. The only brand of saw you have to be careful with is Pioneer, their green saws. The paint on those saws was not great and will flake off if you're not careful.

@@EightWheelsRollin thanks. I have a pretty wild collection. Myself. Mall, champion, 2 man Mcullha, mono, sears, Montgomery ward, disston , David Bradly,1850 pioneer, homelight stihl etc etc . I even have a rare saw, where the blade rotates so the chainsaw can stay upright when you’re cutting through a tree.. Mostly all monster saws. I do concrete for a living, Never worked on a chainsaw before. but I would like to try and start fixing them up these old saws and get them running. I have 30 saws total. 20 big , 10 medium/small

That's a really nice collection of saws. Some are pretty rare! You're in deep with 30 already, ha ha. You'll be up to 50 before you blink! It's an addicting hobby. Jump on one you like and start wrenching on it. Before you know it, you'll have 'em all up and running!
