When I was learning tai-ji some half century ago in Kuala Lumpur, student asked him how he managed to learn and deliver such an explosive power, He smiled and replied : pratice" 鬆身五法" 5 forms of relaxation until you completely master the relaxation of your body, the power would naturally be generated.

Master Huang never charged anybody, and is always willing to teach anybody everything he knew as long as they genuinely want to learn real Tai Chi.

This loosening form is amazing, gives me goose bumps watching. One of my teachers said loosening is the foundation of Taiji. If you know how the human eye feels firm when lightly touched through ones eyelids? He would show some of what's possible to motivate new students by making his eye so relaxed his eyeball felt all squishy. I never got that far as yet.

Dear eddie lai: my teacher just told me about these videos by master huang. I have been doing Tai Chi for about 15 years but I still have a lot to learn. I still have problems here and there with balance, I think a lot of it has to do with loosening up. Reading these comments I would suggest to you this: don't waste too much time responding to trolls who try to ridicule Tai Chi online, it just leads nowhere, & causes you stress . Tai Chi is supposed to be about getting rid of stress. I will try these exercises thanks 2 whoevr for posting these m.

+unvital Spark A closed mind will lead you NOWHERE also. Don't jump to conclusion to quickly. Lack of balance can be also you lack of stretching exercise since you pick up taichi as an adult. Doing taichi 15 years or 50 years don't mean a thing, really. It is about how fit the body frame that you consider as your body! Range of Motion is relative. Most Non-Asians have short range of motion while doing the taichi routine. They follow their old masters whom had deteriorated in their physical movements themselves and the students copy their styles to their detriment. What is the goal of practicing Taichi? For martial arts? For health reasons? For competition? SInce U mention about getting rid of stress, I guess you practice taichi as a martial art is out the window; In that case, leg extension, longer strides, bend the knees lower but not beyond the toes is important and beneficial for health and your daily life activities. You will become useful at home and wife will NOT complain too much :-) A troller wishing U Good luck.

Intention and Sung. And nothing else. (Sung kind of is that: just enough to realise your intention, and nothing more.) The loosening exercises and form are studies in intention and sung, much as a musician's etude is a study in playing technique.

JR, you are right. The shoulders and elbows should sink down i.e. follow the force of gravity. Everything should be done in a relaxed manner and the mind should also be calm and relaxed. All joints must moved in a synchronised fashion and try to put one's weight to the feet. With time one can achieve the weightedness of Tai- chi i.e. good balance and the feeling of rooting to the ground but one must be patient to calm the mind and the rest will follow.

@CottonBoxer The main purpose of this exercise is to make your joints, tendons and sinews flexible and it helps to keep arthritis & rheumatism at bay during old age. I have been practising this 'Song Sen Wu Fa' ( literally translated as Five Forms of Loosening the body ) and it has given me good health. Hope you will practise this and live a life free from all joint and body pains & aches.

unfortunately most train their entire lives with the wrong mindset of hard and strong (and though some achieve this they usually end up with injuries) rather than soft and flowing. relaxation is the key to body awareness and body awareness is the key to manipulating the flow of energy in the body. without relaxation, energy and breath get " stuck"

Your elbows and shoulders always need to be sunk down (sung). Try to make your elbow go shoulder level while doing that and you'll either find that you can't do it or your shoulders lift up.

Master Huang original style was White Crane... later he studied Yang style Tai Chi
@greg65092 жыл бұрын
Interesting thing is his Tai Chi Chuan was better than his teacher's Master Cheng Man Ching. I mean Yang Luchan studied other wushu styles first before learning Chen which also incorporated other wushu styles. Of course you don't think none of the original Yang style Tai Chi came from other wushu? The original Yang Style had sweeps, multiple jump kicks including a spinning flying one, they practiced fast forms, two partner fighting forms, free sparring knocking each other out, etc... Yang Ban Hou and Yang Shao Hou didn't have many students who could withstand the physical abuse of practicing real fighting skills. I think it's great Master Huang incorporated his Fujian White Crane into Tai Chi Chuan improving the lack of Neigong taught by his Tai Chi Master. Some Okinawan Karate Masters (with White Crane as one of the main sources of Karate) have been asked what their art should look like at the higher level and respond Tai Chi Chuan! I'm sure you're aware of all of this and that Yang Luchan's art incorporated a lot more than Chen family wushu. Heck, just the Yang style has Ba Dua Jin gives an example of the overlap. It inspires me that even not receiving the full transmission this great teacher became a true Tai Chi Master with honest skills on how to use the various Jins and teach it to his students. And that student's that never met him life Sifu Adam Mizner seem to have achieved the same skills. Inspiring as they demonstrate much mire true Tai Chi according to the classics then many so called modern Tai Chi Masters.

@@greg6509 Not uncommon in the history of Chinese martial styles/traditions. Important names, politically or for some other reasons had "students" that were better and more experienced than them. Yang Chenfu is a solid example.

@@TaijiquanExplained No real Yang Style teachers in my area I live in. Debating currently between lineage holder Liang Dehua taijiacademy online who teaches authentic Neigong and forms from Yang Shao Hou as well as the Yang Cheng Fu's fast form or enrolling in Sifu Adam Mizner's discover Tai Chi program as he seems through to have developed absolutely amazing internal kung fu on his own picking up from Huang lineage students and more. Which Sifu do you like better?

Hey-Well if your looking at taiji videos you`ll def need a teacher..+your on the right track with Ms. Huang...loving tao makes me think your into Mantack Chia? work on the basics, this is too hard to learn without a teacher, pay attention to the spine being str8, do universal post with micrcosmic orbit for as long as you can on one leg..Its impossible to explain as everyone makes diff errors, make sure your hips are square all weight on back leg, knee in line with bk foot. think relax skin

nah, the sloppy wave like movements are for doing what the video says- loosening up. anyway I was taught NEVER to raise the elbows to the shoulder or above (its not proper body mechanics and can cause injury), its the HANDS that come to the shoulders. ive never seen anyone bring their elbows up near the shoulders in taiji except taichi intros /salutation (double front arm raises to double downard presses)

A very good practitioner of neigong mechanics embedded within fluid moves. But this channel is incorrect to say Huang "Developed" these 5 moves - externally or internally. They are simple variations of neigong excercises going back at least 3000 years - before even what we call dao yin postures and moves today... ...way before rice paper when tortoise shells, bones and cave drawings were the medium of recording postures and moves transmitted in person orally, visually, internally by visceral touch - even energetically at distance by the higher level teachers living quietly often in nature as the turmoil of Chinese history played out, the oldest continuous internal arts civilization still around at least approximate to India's internal traditions - but mostly gone today. For English only readers - you can check into Bruce Frantzis' decent "Energy Gates" neigong book and see the SAME root moves and BASIC internal mechanics Bruce correctly acknowledges have been around LONG before modern times. Huang at best just imparted what he was willing to teach - what he learned from CMC's Yang style and maybe a couple others including White Crane without the internal jerkiness that can screw up one's nervous system if not supremely smooth internally and relaxed already.
@JohnsTheGuest12 жыл бұрын
Is it me or is he doing these excercises intentionally sloppy? The way I've learned it is that you should raise your elbow at shoulder level when you're waving your arms...
