I was waiting for something to happen with the network , it was getting a bit ridiculous...Great lesson Sensei..I always love training with you when you're teaching me the nunchaku..I picked up the nunchakus high school and I was taught Bruce Lee's techniques. I also appreciate training with different nylon cord lengths and different chain links lengths ; Swivel of course..I also like the 3 sectional staff .! I am getting a good workout for my upper body , I am also training with my Sai's...Excellent lesson Sensei and Thank you Sir .! I am very grateful for your training and techniques.!

Thanks for the video! You make these look cool and fun. I doubt that I'd ever become proficient, but that's not the big impediment to my trying nunchucks. The big problem for me is that I'm having too much fun with the staff and clubs to branch into the chucks with the energy I have right now.

Great instruction as usual Matt! Can you show how to recover from impact with a strike using these? As you know they’re are two sections connected and making impact changes directional strikes very quickly

Seems to me those spins in the beginning of the vid only apply to chucks with swivels. Traditional corded chucks probably can't do that without the cord twisting up.

@@EthanFoerst My experience was that I initially trained with the modern style with chains and swivels... Someone handed me traditional corded chucks... with the heavy octaganal handles... went into my usual moves at full strength... Soom as I hit a move that needed the swivels... the cords bound up... handle hit my elbow and chipped the bone that protects the "funny bone" nerve... It's been 30+ years... that damage is still there. It's an important difference and needs to be pointed out. As the joke goes... the person you're most likely to hurt with chucks... is yourself... LOL! :D

@@flmasonI was also using a stoft wood so I didn't hurt my self to bad and there is a difference but in my experience it's not to much and the type you use will also make a difference but if you practice you will know the little differences but think you for the warning

@@EthanFoerst You simply can't spin traditional chucks the way this video shows. Swiels are an entirely different way of connection the handles. It makes a big difference. You simply cannot do the spins this poster shows with traditional chucks.

How can you spar with nunchucks (or most weapons)?? Martial arts training needs to used in non-compliant sparring to learn what works in the real world and to practice for the real world. We train weapons forms, blocks and strikes, but that cannot be enough.

There are hard foam covered chucks that you can spar with. They aren’t exactly like the real thing but better than just forms and technique as you said. Thanks!
