Thanks for your great ideas! My unfair advantage is living in Queensland, Australia. 😊 Recently we had a tornado on the Gold Coast, on Christmas night! It was our first one, well, in my life time anyway. I put photos on Shutterstock and they have sold quite well. Mostly in Australia, but hey, it's better than nothing. 😁

I heard that there are not so many photographers there in Australia, so that is definiely an advantage! My photos from Gold Coast and Sydney from 2015 and 2017 made me a lot of money, although I am more focused on lifestyle content. And a great video again Charles. The two most important things in my opinion are story and video! We are trying to think of story more and more on our shoots!

Regarding video I have 2 questions - (1) which in your experience sells best HD or 4K? (2) How do I upload the same video in HD and 4k videos without breaking rules such as upscaling or down scaling?
@wollertz3 ай бұрын
I always upload in 4K or the best quality possible, if someone wants to buy the HD version the agencies take care of the downscaling I haven’t upscaled anything personally 🤷♂️

Shoot for a minimum of 30 solid keywords that Describe the photo, who? What? How? Where? When? Colors, feelings, anything the image represents

I am interested in stock photography and video. I’m brand new to photography, what would be a good camera , for me to start out with ?
@wollertz6 ай бұрын
There are many factors to consider. Your budget, are you planning on only shooting for stock or anything else? Lenses are more important than the camera in most cases. Also how much time are planing to dedicate to this? I know it doesn’t seem relevant, but stock takes years, and I don’t want to reccomend something without taking all of this into consideration.
@lkay908886 ай бұрын
@@wollertz I’m in the fashion industry , I’m a freelancer , so I have plenty of time . A lot of projects I work on , I source stock . I never really find what I’m looking for . I live in a great place with incredible view , another reason to pursue stock . Just as another vessel to explore my creativity . My budget is ok, but I want to crawl before I walk 😁 I have thousand of photos , not sure they are good enough . I want to give it at least 6 months to a year , before seriously investing . Then if it goes well . I can upgrade , I could still use the equipment , for trips and such . Thank you , for the feedback !
@wollertz6 ай бұрын
Thats where it gets complicated, for stock to make a profit its going to take years, you will need about 10000 good relevant photos online before you see a good return. When you say you want to see ow it goes before investing, then you'll never really know what could have happened. Most people start with a phone or entry level camera and when only a few photos get accepted and very few sell they think stock is not good, but it was their gear and atitude. There is a lot of competition using very expensive gear, I suggest, if you are serious about it start with the best you can afford and stick with it until you have at least 10000 photos @@lkay90888

Do you have to Copywrite your photographs, before submission ?
@wollertz6 ай бұрын
No, the agencies try to stay on top of usage and protect them, you are giving the agencies the rights to sell them.
@EvaJ9766 ай бұрын
@@wollertz ok awesome 😎 I was wondering how that worked . One more question ? What if I were selling print on demand , on Amazon ? Would I still have to copy write them . By the way , I am taking pictures of my pets , with my iPhone . Pro max 15 , just test the waters . To see if my work , will even sell first . Thanks , so much , for the response 😊
@wollertz6 ай бұрын
Copyright is a good habit, but its not necessary, I would check with a lawyer for your specific situation, its different for everyone, as far as phone images, Ima. bit advocate for using a real camera for a business and stock photography is a business, you'll get out of it what you put in. Pet photos is a saturated market unless you can find a unique concept, other wise you are going to be waiting months before a sale, as it is it usually takes about 6 months for new users to generate sales, and thats uploading weekly.@@EvaJ976

Anything that could be miss used with children in a sexual manner, agencies will reject them or delete them so be very careful with images of children. Other than that I can’t really think of anything 🤷♂️
