In the last puzzle, you could also take three matches so that one triangle is still on the table, and stand one match in each corner of it, so that the other ends touch in the "air" in the middle of the triangle. Boom! Four triangles. You just have to think inside the tetrahedron :)

I had trouble with the first 2, but I figured the last one immediately. I guess I spend a lot of time with magic, puzzles, riddles and jokes, that I can already see where you're going with them. Which still makes me feel kind of disappointed that I can't get first 2 :)

For the first one I came up with a different solution that required breaking a match but created three congruent equilateral triangles

There's another way of solving the first one. Move the top triangle towards the bottom triangle any distance less than the height of the middle triangle. The top apex of the middle triangle and the base of the moved triangle now form a smaller equilateral triangle.

For the first trick: How about moving bottom triangle an put it between two ones above... forming a christmas tree?

Hey Brian for your first puzzle there is actually a better solution which actually gives 4 equilateral triangles and all of same size. You take the two middle matches ( /\ ) and flip them upside down V and then you just move the base of that triangle either left or right and you get 4 equilateral triangles of the same size.

You can make 5 equal size equilateral triangles by taking 3 matches from a triangle and then arrange them on top of another triangle to make a pyramid. So that's 2 triangle on the table and 3 from the sides of the pyramids

last one I woulda grabbed one from his matchbox and split one of the two triangles in half creating two inside of one, with one to the side. This makes 4 and stops the trick in its tracks because he said 1 match not specifying it had to be one of the matches in play. Before the reveal I was certain that was it, but was disappointed.

LI did the first one by putting the bottom triangle on top of the middle and top one and it made a small triangle, as well as the 3 big ones = 4

You gotta do another trick like the melting rubber band trick. Keep up the cool vids!!!

Hey Brian! For the first puzzle you can also take three matches from any triangle and make a pyramid on top of another one and you end up with five triangles! :) Just saying! :) First comment in two years of weekly following your show! :) Cheers from Belgium!

for the first one you can just move one triangle partially inside other so the tip of the first forms another triangle with the base of the second one

For the first one You can make it harder so they can only move two matches and still get four equilateral triangles... Set it up the same way... Take one away from the bottom triangle and put it so one end is in the middle of the bottom match in the middle triangle and the other end is touching the bottom left corner of the top triangle so it's laying over the left piece of the middle triangle.... Then take one of the matches from the top triangle (not the bottom match) and do the same thing as the first one just on the opposite side of the middle triangle... (Bonus they are all the same size) try that out..

Paused at 2:04 and realized that I've seen this trick before, it's a very clever one and you have to really think outside the box! EDIT...after seeing the answer, I realized I've seen a different version of the trick, where you move 3 of the matches to create a 3-dimensional pyramid shape that has 4 faces (including the base) that are all equilateral triangles! There would be extra matches, but you never said that they had to use all of them, now did you? ;)

First and second were easy (Though both can be solved also by moving only one match). For last one, I moved one match from the matchbox (you had one on table) snapped it in half and placed pieces in two corners of triangle.

I made 4 equilateral triangles by placing one of the triangles so that it overlaps one of the other two.

With the first one I got that instantly. Second one I had a very though time with. But the third one. With the clever wordplay stumped me so badly I had no idea. I had to see the answer for the last one

On the first puzzle, I can move 3 matches and end up with 5 equilateral triangles that are all the same size!

As soon as I saw it I knew to grab matches from the box

YEah Dark... I thought of that one, then thought maybe he meant, but forgot to specify, the the triangles all had to have lengths of a full match. But even then, you can get 5. Answer: remove any triangle and form it into a pyramid by holding the top vertex with your fingers. (Use the third dimension, in other words. ) That give 4 triangles with lengths of a full match in the pyramid, plus one still on the table. I haven't watched the solution yet, so I don't know if that's what he does.

The first one is really easy

You can do it with 2 sticks. just move them from the top one to create 2 smaller ones against the middle one.

I did the last trick at the bar and 3 guys beat the shit out of me and threw me in the dumpster. PS. I woke up after from my dream afterward. Great tricks !

For the first one, if you had blue, you could take three of the sticks and make a pyramid and you would have 5 triangles.

For the last one I would have took one snapped it in two and put one half in between each triangle... 2 big triangles and 2 small inside the bigger ones

for first trick there is one answer which i found.....is....let first and last triangle same and middle one upside down and the horizontal bar of it gets vertical and placed on left side...

I got the first one but the second one I knew you can have a bigger triangle I knew it and the last one was so weird

Why not make 5 equilateral triangles moving only 2 matches? Just flip the top two matches down, keeping them joined at their tips, now touching the tip of the bottom triangle. That forms two more half-size ones (same as the half-size one Brushwood formed in the middle).
