Thanks Malcolm for another great demonstration. It has given me a lot of very useful tips on the importance of both distance and atmosphere. With distant objects though, do you think it is better to soften edges or decrease value contrast between objects? Or to do a bit of both?
@MalcolmDewey Жыл бұрын
Thank you, A bit of both but softer away from the focal area or region.
@theponderingpilgrim4342 Жыл бұрын
@MalcolmDewey Many thanks Malcolm. Will try that approach. Regards.

Thank you Malcolm for demonstrating this topic about the aerial perspective which is so important for the depth of the image. You can explain it perfectly,professionally, yet in a way that is easy to understand.

What I struggle with is that you seem to put the sky in last and that means painting around what you've already painted and when I do that I always drag the paint from the trees into my sky , wouldn't it be easier to paint the sky first then put trees and buildings on top ?
@MalcolmDewey Жыл бұрын
Yes it can help to paint the sky first. In this tutorial my steps were dictated by the six steps and not a painting process as such. However keep in mind that a little softening between objects edges and sky, especially with organic objects like trees is desireable too.

I'm sorry if you made already made a video on this, but how do you make the brushwork pop out? For example, my goal is for my brushwork to look like the brushwork for the blue bush at 4:08. Meanwhile, mine looks like most forward fence. Also, what type of brush do you use for this video and most other impressionist videos? Thanks.
@MalcolmDewey4 ай бұрын
If you type brushwork into the search bar on my channel, there will be several on the topic. Use bristle brushes like long flats. This is a #6 by Raphael Paris Classic. Use lots of paint. Also the surrounding color can make your brushmark standout,

This is a great video! It's so helpful that you demonstrate what TO do as well as what NOT to do. It's really helpful that you demonstrate these right on the painting - where it all becomes clear!
