“Fix your face”. That is a saying that will still make my skin scrawl. I couldn’t even frown or cry if I was upset. I was made to smile even if I didn’t feel like it.

I was married to a narc who used to "joke" whenever we went somewhere he expected full face makeup ( I never knew if or to do my makeup) until he would say a system of the down song lyrics "grab a brush n put on a lil makeup!" And laugh.. was funny like twice.. icky feelings.

It feels like we placed a bet of a dollar on a gamble, yet the stakes FEEL LIKE we put 1,000,000 MILLION dollars on it. Heart pumping, confusion, rage, anger abound, infuriated. Like a boiling gas in your chest, the unfairness of these kinds of situations. Feels like something bad is going to happen. We are angry and we don't want anyone to feel scared, or hate us, punish us, sounds like childhood trauma to me. Learning to just let things happen, WE DONT HAVE TO WIN ANYTHING. But only just be. Because life, circumstance, and chances will all fix themselves anyways. Anxiety tells us we're loosing somehow. A cheat, a perceived short. ❤😂it stinks. Thanks for your work it helps a lot.

Not only did this connect me with my inner child that I’ve buried under piles of unpacked emotions, it has also revealed how I’m treating my very own children. I feel as adults we definitely shush our children far far too often because our own emotions are too overwhelming never we never knew there was a third path. I’m happy that I took initiative and searched for info on emotional detachment and found your content. Is exactly what I needed. Thank you so much I’m going to continue listening to much more. Thank you Lisa!!

I remember thinking I was bad too, when it turned out it was the negative childhood programming. I developed harm ocd thoughts as a result. Feelings or thoughts werenyt taken seriously, it was just ignore it, or youre fine.

This upload came right in time, I didn't think I have CPTSD (too) bc my narcissistic parents couldn't accept their own guilt towards me.

This actually happened to me tonight, I experienced verbal abuse and questioned/judged my emotions that arose after the interaction, because I was gaslighted into thinking I was the one at fault (as usual). I've grown so used to suppressing negative emotions, I couldn't even tell what the heaviness in my chest was (I felt like I was going to cry for hours after).

Thank you for sharing this information. I’m currently working with a therapist on these issues and she has made me aware of how I avoid emotions and of course I have all the symptoms you have mentioned So this information is really going hand in hand with what I’m working on . Please keep them coming and thanks again.

Lisa, this is off topic, but I feel the need to share that my 15 year old cat watched this whole video with me (with my phone on kickstand) and her eyes and head moved when you moved your hands. It was soooooo cute! Unfortunately, I couldn't watch you and take a video of her at the same time.

This is why my brother never wants to see my dad (he has special needs and is dependent on our parent's, whove been seperated for 20 years) he will cry and scream when he has to go to dads.

Thanks again Lisa! The 2 pathways are very familiar and I appreciate your help and support about the 3rd way of accepting the emotions and that feelings are not facts. Emotional regulation is the goal.❤❤ Thank you for your insight into this!!!

I studied Psychology, no degree, and went to therapy for 20 years. I have learned more about this from Lisa, Crappy CHildhood Fairy, and Emma McAdams, then all of the schooling and therapy combined. Im not an expert, but I taught in America for 25 years, I would guess that 90% of the children who were in my class suffer from CPTSD

What is the difference between CPTSD and BPD? This question is lingering harshly in my brain...
@jenniferw3307
@jenniferw3307 2 ай бұрын
There are several key differences between cPTSD vs BPD. cPTSD is caused by exposure to chronic, long-term trauma, while BPD can be caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors BPD symptoms may come and go and cPTSD persists over time Both disorders include feelings of intense shame and guilt, yet they are caused by different reasons With cPTSD, your internalized shame results in irrational guilt and anxiety With BPD, you may feel inherently flawed and undesirable, which makes you very fearful of abandonment and sensitive to perceived criticism cPTSD leads to avoidance behaviors, while BPD often leads to reckless behavior
