Great podcast! Really appreciate the effort you guys put into raising the bar for the entire industry. On billing, when we sign on a new customer we have them pay the first month up front before we start. That way we have the cash to pay our people and don't have to wait 6 weeks to "catch up."

Thanks for watching! We've never had a customer pay before services are performed, but that sounds like a great strategy.

I am deeply grateful for this podcast. Hearing all of the mistakes that was made along your company's journey broke off perfectionism that was seeking to keep me bound. A system that desires to get all of the conceptual understanding in order that I can execute perfectly on custodial bids was broken as I listened to you both share. I realize that mistakes are baked into the cake of running a business. I have made mistakes and will continue, but I will also grow as I make mistakes. Also, I just got my second custodial contract approved this last week and I know this podcast helped me to have courage while negotiating. Thanks OctoClean!

Your videos are great and I purchased your training cards. I've implemented the team system in my business, but I would love a video on zone cleaning and how that works with team cleaning. Cheers from Canada!

Awesome podcast you guys talk about a lot that “gurus” dont really touch on. It seems like you bill net 30. How come you do this ? I usually bill to a cc on the first of month automatically. Ive never any push back from accounts under 10,000/mo. And if I do, then I just bill weekly to the credit card. I was billing net 30 like you suggested and I was getting killed taking on accounts w the payroll. I only bill in advance now. I know that I probably wouldnt get a big corporate account w this strategy but its not what im going for. I think for newer cleaning companies to teach to bill in advance would help so that you dont go cashflow negative bc of payrol . Do you agree with this logic ? Or do you use a factoring company to cover u for the 30 -45 day period ?

Thanks for watching and giving your feedback! We haven't had customers pay for services before they are completed, but if it is working for you, it could definitely work for others. Thanks for sharing how you do things!

I have 23 years in the industry and I currently subcontract for another cleaning company at in Missouri… I have recently realized he is only paying me by the hour…I sat down and did the numbers and found out he is keeping 40-50% of each account I have been cleaning for him for past 15 months. How would you handle this? Is this the normal percentage to keep when you’re subbing out work?

I have been in the residential cleaning industry for 5 years and have a few small offices currently. I feel lead to branch into commercial, schools more specifically. We have a great training program for residential and I feel we could defiantly provide proper training in the commercial. Should I create a new brand and separate out the two companies?
@OctoCleanMedia
@OctoCleanMedia Ай бұрын
Hi, there! It isn't 100% necessary to brand and separate the two companies, but you definitely want to make sure that your website, socials, and Google profile speak to both clients. Especially the homepage of your site. You will also want pages for the industries that you serve and what commercial services you offer.

I also clean several sorority houses. I feel as tho the guy that subbed the work to me is real greedy. One of my houses is 5 days a week. I believe he is getting at least 3600$ a month for the cleaning mind you he supplies all the 🧻 and towels so I know he among money there also. He pays me 1800$ a month for that one house. Is that normal?

Basically this video was. Most of the competition sucks and they don’t know it. Don’t be like them. How? Knowing how to Clean a business Systems Training Knowing how to actually price so that you make a profit and have a great service , not just good cleaning But you cant do any of that until you have years of experience as a janitor

Sounds about right! No one will have all the answers when they first start, we definitely didn't - emphasis on that. But one of the big takeaways is that there are a lot more resources out there now and you don't need to go in blind. Thanks for watching our first pod!
