A lot of us carry a lot of tools in our pockets and on our belts. Our EDC (every day carry) allows us to solve problems as they present themselves. The question is, what is necessary and what is not. I carry a lot, but my favorite is my Multitool. I alternate between my Leatherman Curl, Leatherman Bond and Leatherman skeletool. If you like the Wave try the Curl, The Leatherman Curl is like a more compact Wave.

I have changed from a multitool to a pocket knife, screwdriver with multiple tips in the handle, an adjustable wrench and a diamond steel sharpener. But I don't care about weight, I'm looking for more exercise anyway. The walk the dog load out is up to 27 pounds now. I've adjusted kids bicycles, lent the screwdriver to an employee of a local coffee shop.

Before I retired I worked in a tire factory. Rubber is very abrasive, even uncured rubber is abrasive and will dull a knife quickly. So besides a knife, I carried a sharpener. The knives they gave us were useful, but the steel was far from the best. I took to carrying a very nice fixed blade, good tool steel, great handle, good retention in the sheath. I got a talking to from HR. Did I think I was better than other people that I needed to carry a different knife. Glad to be retired.

Figuring out the right EDC for your personal needs is actually big fun. I came to the conclusion that I can only consider stuff EDC, that I actually wear in the pockets of my (always) loaded pants. Bags are important, too, but the sling bag that sits in my car differs from the backpack I'd take on a day hike, etc. After having fiured out the perfect cargo pocket setup, I made sure that a cargo shorts version of the pants was available as well.

Cargo pants are really good, but I didn't find a good ones for urban environment to fit all my needs, and some army cargo pants aren't grayman.

If its constantly in my pockets for more than a certain amount of time, it's included in my EDC, I obviously need it enough to carry it, but if I look at something and hesitation over it being in my pockets exists, Is it really necessary? If the answer no, it's not included, kind of a continuous review process that becomes almost subconscious, it's interesting to compare what was important to me in my 20s compared to now in my late 40s, and yet theres some things that have always been there, pocket knife, bic, a small torch(thankyou technology for making these way smaller) a role of twine, (25ft 80lb braid?), army tin can opener, wallet.

I carry everything you show and more, but most of it is in a sling bag. My handgun, knive is on me, and my other stuff remains in the car while going in and out of stores. I also keep a huge get home bag in the truck with everything that I may need. It lightens up my pockets and enables me to have more with the sling bag from “Roaring Fire “

Thanks for sharing! 👊 I carry the Wave in my Maxpedition pouch in my edc pack. But I carry a Skeletool in my pocket daily. Also like you I carry a gaiter, a lighter in an Exotac Firesleeve, a small copper Olight, a copper Tactile Turn pen, a Rite in the Rain pad, a Para 3, and my Open Sea Leather wallet. I use most of these items daily at work, home, or play. The fun and practicality of my edc is finding what works for me, and the gear that is gonna hold up to daily use, and make me happy as well! Love the channel, and vids, keep ‘‘em coming. 🏕️🙏

I have several large leatherman models and I love them... but I've grown to keeping them in bags and packs....and the one I actually carry on me every day is the skeletool... while it doesn't have everything I want on it... it does have the main 3... the bit driver pliers and a decent blade!!! Its slim some what light while having a second dual sided bit in the handle!!!!!and I absolutely carry a small fixed blade along with that...I find its easier to just use a good fixed blade..... for the everyday stuff

Yeah, if one considers size, weight and utility it stacks up great. When multitools start getting bigger, heavier and admittedly better in many ways I start to leave them at home due to size and weight. Blades not locking hasn't bit me yet but be careful. Sometimes on eBay you see old PST for around $25 and that's a great deal that still packs a wallop. I like the minimalist sheath too. It's a true classic that created its own category.

@@michaelkulman7095 I'm using an old Gerber multi-tool sheath for my Leatherman. The leather sheath was damaged and my Gerber broke (my fault, it's not a pry bar, lol). Seem more comfortable to me.

You definitely need the fixed blade if you're on a farm or homestead and you're going to be doing whittling or that kind of stuff. I think you might like carrying a dedicated set of pliers, whether the water pump type (Knipex are the best) or the slipjoint pliers (Snap On are good). I don't know what else you need on your multitool on a daily basis but for most of the tools on it there are pocketable alternatives which are arguably better. Plus then you can configure your toolset to suit your needs, varying from day to day if you think you will need different tools. My EDC is mostly urban, for example today I'm rolling with a Victorinox Climber because I want the scissors and a couple of blades but I don't need one handed opening, a Knipex Cobra XS waterpump pliers, and I've literally got a dedicated screwdriver in my 5th pocket, with space left for a lighter. It's a Wera 813 bit holder handle which itself is only the size of a Bic lighter, with a 2 in extender next to it, and a Phillips and slothead bit. That's small but still way more capable than those sleek designer EDC bit drivers, and most multitool drivers.

Having the skill set I believe is most important. Most of any survival with a shtf situation will be organic. If you have visably to much. You just made yourself a target for countless people in your immediate area. At that point, you are a force of one against untold number of people who want what you have. Campers in the woods or on the road are not easily defendable. The woods also give your Adversary cover from your defense. If not in a group. Finding isolation and cover with the basics for a month, even in plain sight would increase your initial survivability. Within that month, the threats will have diminished considerably. But leaving you with a host of now skilled survivors. Note, the importants of skill set.

Probably the Benchmade Griptlian. Surefire tactical flashlight, cash, credit card and prepaid credit card, Pistol when going to town and spare mag. Like the Leatherman but its second choice if I don’t have actual tool with me.

I carried a Leatherman Wave for a long time before I decided it was too heavy. So I went to a Skeletool for 6-7 years. I liked it a lot but always wished it had scissors. So a few months ago I bought the Leatherman Curl. So far, it seems like a nice middle space between the Skeletool and the Wave.

I've seen your neck gaiter in an earlier video and instantly thought desert night camo, ah the 80's. Really enjoy your videos, they are not just trying to sell gear nor endless lists of gear. We see that you have put thought in what you carry and see it evolve. I'd not recommend anything smaller than the Wave, all the smaller options seem lacking. However I used to EDC a Charge but since changing jobs I have switched to a SAK that won't catch on things like a Wave on my belt.

It's hard to tell what is the most important part of EDC, but I think everyone should find some balance of things that are essential for him, which are used on everyday basis to things to have that are really important in case of emergency, when your EDC is everything you can rely on, and you have nothing else.

I find it funny with the multitool weight, and brass flashlight weight in regards to your preference and comfortability. I know Olight has to make something closer to the lighter side of that model so you get the same feel without the weight. The video should have been broken into edc for "home/ranch/truck", and edc for "i walked into a store away from my comfort zone".

Leatherman Wave EDC here. I use it at least half a dozen times every day. A belt sheath will save wear and tear on your pockets.

Try the " crunch " Multi tool with vise grips A 5" pair of vise grips with multi tool on it very handy for cheap. Vise grops much more useful then pliers

A Leatherman carries, quite literally, a weight penalty. I own several and carry none of them. They are relegated to vehicles and my desk drawer where they are pretty useful. When on the go there's not much I can't do with a $25 Victorinox Hiker. Weighs next to nothing and makes no fuss while residing in my pocket. Having said that the Fieldmaster SAK is my go-to on excursions into the unknown. I've had it for 30 years and it went with me everywhere when I flew in the Air Force. It was a required tool, a-don't-leave-home-without-it and if you did, god help you.

Have you checked out the Leatherman Squirt? It’s small, lightweight, and has the tools you need in a pinch just to do a quick job. So instead of going out to the truck, you have the pliers in your pocket

One thing that I carry with me whenever I leave the house is a small powerbank. In many situations calling for help might be the best thing to do and I am sure that if it is one time my phone will have low battery it is that day.

I’d say my Leatherman has to be my most valuable. It has a saw, 2 blades, scissors…worth the weight if you ask me, in a survival situation. A blade is good (and I carry one of those too), but it’s not as versatile as the lm.

Im a pretty amatuer EDC guy, but I recently got a Leatherman Rev (I'm normally a Victorinox guy). I find the rev quite good at its price. Its quite stripped down, has a decent knife, different screwdrivers, etc. I think it's worth a try considering how cheap it is for a Leatherman. Quite compact too

I'm retired and I can remember when we did not lock our cars and houses up. Of course I can also remember when we had to start locking them up. My house is locked when I am inside, when out of sight of my house on my farm and when I am gone. My car is locked when I am not in it, period.

My first line EDC is a Leatherman Wave which I personally use for small things all the time, I've found adding the pocket clip helped. A lighter, a couple armspans of bank line, chap stick a flashlight and a bandana. Additionally I've got my get home bag which has everything else and it's seldom very far from me.

Only things you're not carrying that I do carry is a can of pepper spray, a bug head net and a pair of silicone ear plugs. Everything else you're carrying I'm also carrying except there's a few differences in the exact models of the item. The main differences are I have the Sig P365, 2 spare mags, ESEE Izula, Leatherman Rebar and Streamlight Stylus Pro.

Knipex cobra xs pliars and victorinox wrench kit has replaced my multi tool. Lighter and better tools. Pair with the knife you're already carrying and you're good to go.

I daily carry a Wave with the pocket clip installed. Just try leaving it at home for a week... You'll probably find yourself reaching for it often. At least I did anyway. Maybe not, though. Different strokes

Carrying a J frame appendix is very very comfy even when I have to do a lot of bending over. I have one that is kind of a beater and don't worry about getting sweaty and dirty with it. When I am not working I carry something else.

Have you considered the Leatherman Skeletool? Pliers, bit driver and blade… might be a good / lightweight alternative. Also, Snake Staff Systems recently created the ETQ, Everyday Tourniquet, which might also be a worthwhile look as an alternative to the RATS. Good vid by the way.

G'day mate.! May we suggest a Leatherman Skeletool for minimal carry or perhaps you can mod your current Leatherman.? It will make a great Utube vid.! We don't own a Leatherman but purchase affordable generics and mod it to ficilitate our needs, mainly for outdoors usages primarily for bushcrafting & survival. We would also encourage you to carry a fixed blade & a multitool for a backup. A pair of pliers can be very useful in the woods & repairs. Be prepared & ready for anything. With current global situation etc we need the ability to survive for the unexpected. What you have now is sufficient, just need to learn how to use it efficiently & even blindfold. We survive out of our pockets & we live out of our packs. Never go anywhere without a knife, way to make fire & a snack in your pocket. I also carry a 6 ft piece of para chord in my pocket.

Apart the the hammer and nail, and the fix blade I carry the same type of stuff would be lost without my multi tool and flashlight you said you wanted something smaller for your multi tool have to tried a victorinox deluxe tinker smaller that the leatherman yet still has enough function and tool set for the price aswell

My edc load out is real similar first keep both knives, and second if you have tried it check of Dynamis lo pro edc belt has stash pockets but also has a spot to stack quarters to use in self defense. “You should look into man that’s all I’m say”. - Eddie Bravo

Amen. 2+2=4, that’s an absolute. However, there are very few absolutes in life and what’s best for one person likely isn’t for another. Our videos get frequent comments on how there’s only one way to solve a problem or achieve a goal. CO monitors should be mounted ~12-18 inches from the floor. By the time a CO monitor above you alarms, you are dead. CO sinks.

I would add a large nail clipper to my EDC so I don’t have to chew my finger nails off anymore 😜 ! My personal protection device is one of the more popular micro 9s, can hardly tell it’s there, my waist size recently dropped from 32 inches to about 30/31 so now I can comfortably carry it IWB wearing my old pants.

A thin elastic tourniquet like that isn't especially useful in an emergency situation, you should invest in CAT or something equivalent.

Food for thought. Cordage around your neck gives a poe something to grab and choke you with.

@@SurvivalDispatch when I was in the Army we use to put our dog tag chains inside 550 cord but leave a 6 inch section of the chain uncovered just so that if someone grabbed your tags the chain could break (which is what they are supposed to do) great video though.
