“He-Man is stuck in New Jersey” is one sentence I never expected to hear in my life.

Frank Langella said that playing Skeletor in this film was his favorite role ever.

Was this film the one that kicked off the whole "Cartoon characters come to our universe" cliché that the Smurf movies have been milking?

I love how the 2002 He-Man series started. Skeletor (when he still had a face) attacks the kings castle and they're fighting when Skeletor tries to throw some acid in the kings face but it ends up melting his face off. So he's standing there holding his hands on his face screaming in agony when the king thinks this is the perfect time to give the "I'm arresting you for your crimes against the kingdom" speech.

I actually loved that Skeletor monologue towards the end...

Ripped off Spaceballs? Masters of the Universe came out in August '87. Spaceballs came out in June '87. That would have to be a heck of a fast edit job!

I have to say I watched that scene with skeletors speech twice, I found it riveting It focused almost entirely on Langella's performance, and didn't require crazy camera shots to be effective.

I love the comments that try to yell at the critic like he's going to respond when this video was published last year and was originally uploaded 7 years ago.

I just read that somewhere: "Before Cannon Films went out of business, they planned to make a Masters of the Universe 2 with surfer Laird John Hamilton as He-Man, since Dolph Lundgren hated the first movie and refused to reprise the role. This movie would have been terrible on several levels, mostly because He-Man would be back on earth, disguised as a pro quarterback, while Skeletor would also be on earth, masquerading as an evil CEO (sigh) named Aaron Dark. How amazingly terrible does that sound?"

This review was great... now I'm gonna hold my phone receiver and say... "I have my parents' permission... I HAVE PERMISSION!!!"

I liked the scene when Gwildor stole the tub of ribs, how Teela asks "Why is the food on little white sticks?" and Man-Ar-Arms says "They're rib bones." and Teela and Gwildor look disgusted, but Man-At-Arms continues to eat looking amused.

By far the greatest flaw in this movie is that skeletor doesn't have the same voice as in the cartoon.

As a child I love this movie, and as an adult I still think it stands up. If it weren’t for your dozens and dozens of spot on reviews critic, I’d walk away. But I’ll let you slide this one time.

I loved this film when I was a kid and that Gold skeletor terrified my younger brothers legit reduced them to tears especially the bit where he screams "KNEEL" over and over again

Fun fact: Langella only took the role because his son urged him to do. Yet, his son fell asleep during the premiere of the flick.

At least Frank Langella knew what kind of schlock he was in & just ran with the madness and had a damn good time. I can see why he enjoyed being in such cheesy fare

Frank Langella’s excellent portrayal of Skeletor was the one positive this film had going for it. I thought his make up and costume looked great also.

If there's one thing worse than "He-Man stuck in New Jersey" in 1987 is "He-Man sidelined for Teela" in 2021, ironically by Kevin Smith, a born-and-raised New Jerseyan. Talk about irony. Now I wanna see a debate over which is worse. Because both barely show He-Man, both feel like slaps in the face and both make me feel sorry for the franchise, even though I've never been a fan then as now.

I'd actually like to see an alternate version of the movie, with Wildor designed to look and be Orco, Battlecat and the Sorceress as more prominent characters, Skeletor with an actual Skull head and a voice more like the original, and the characters banding together in order to fight an evil threat that could destroy Eternia!

The ending is definitely a Return of the Jedi rip-off.

One night a few years ago I was watching a kid's channel. It was late and I was tired, but He-Man was on I watched it for the first time. It was a back to back kind of thing and I was only awake for the first episode. The next night I decided to stay up once again to watch it because He-Man intrigued me. I was able to stay up for both episodes, and an episode of She-Ra which was on right after. Later I found about the shows that came on afterwards like Sherlock Holmes In the 22nd Century and Where In the World is Carmen Sandiego. Later I decided to visit the channel again and watch He-Man, but when I got to the time it was usually on, it wasn't on. I waited an hour or two more, and still nothing. I was distraught as hell.

If they made a sequel, I imagine he brings his entire army to steal more KFC chicken from Earth and accidently kill the main girl's parents during the climax... okay that was dark =(

Know what's weird though? If you start watching the cartoon show again, it becomes strangely addictive. There's a channel named David Murphy I believe who has all episodes with original audio and no flaws as far as I can tell. This series is like Animated X-men: it's hard to stop watching when you begin again hehe.

I was a He-Man fan and I appreciate Dolph Lundgren's effort despite his own lack of confidence about his acting ability at the time. If I ever meet him, I have an Etsy fan made power sword I'd like to get a photo of him holding aloft! Lol. This video was a fun watch though! Thanks!

I can't believe you would have the gall, the audacity, the absence of decency, and the pinnacle of ass-holery to review some of the movies so negatively that lots of people like. Man, I found your review more entertaining than the movie itself. Just a couple of remarks, which perhaps somebody has already pointed out, but I haven't gone through the 250+ comments: 1) the title is a reference to the original toy line (which was more like Lord of the Rings meets Star Wars), rather than to the later cartoon (which was more like Super Man on another planet) 2) Gwildor is not just Orko with a different name, but a totally new character; he was created because portraying a dwarf was easier than making a piece of cloth with eyes flying around

And Final Destination would have a big issue with the parents cheating death One year later mrs whatever died from a brick to the head and mr whatever died from an explosion in a hospital room

Unpopular opinion: this movie isn't that bad. Sure, it's corny and kinda weird but it's also a movie made in 1987. Dolph was a great He-Man even though he was criminally underused. The reason why his lines sounded weird is because he hadn't fully learned the English language at the time. Also, Frank Langella is the greatest villain actor of all time and this movie is proof.

Am I the only one who thought that He Man and his team landed into a completely different movie when they went inside the portal?
