I first discovered Mastodon in 2004/2005 and they were a band I liked but it was sort of an "in the background" kind of thing for me. It wasn't until Crack the Skye that I formed a real emotional bond to their music. Ever since then I've done what I could to shove Mastodon in peoples' faces to gain them a bigger following and fan base. As dumb as this sounds, it's my way of paying the band back for everything they've been doing for years for fans like me.

This band hands down is the definition of how a band should progress and evolve over the albums/years. I absolutely love the new record and everyone since. Ill admit some of them took a while to wear on me but now I like and think everyone is awesome and you can hear their progression over the albums and became awesome song writers. I think the combination of Bran and Troys vox together sound badass.

I love these guys so much. Their music is amazing and what I see of the members makes me like them even more. I met Brann outside a show once, as brief as the encounter was he was very nice and tried to talk to me. I was a bit nervous lol 17 and a member of one of your favorite bands is available to talk to. I just walked up, shook his hand and said I can't wait to see you guys tonight. An awesome memory.

i love it when a band just tries to evolve with every record and go for something new but also retain elements of what made them special in the first place. they've definitely earned their stripes as one of the premier metal bands.

Just got back to Tucson from their show in Phoenix, AZ, and it was everything I hoped it would be and more. They played their asses off for almost 2 hours straight. (Brent's playing, especially, was brilliant tonight. Must be all that time spent on the moon.) Thank you Mastodon for one of the greatest shows I've ever experienced.

Call Of The Mastodon is a compilation album of their old songs
@chronic_johnson_a.r.a.b

Oliver Harvey the more recent the album, the less reflection is needed. He's looking back on their history. Recent history may not be as nostalgic (I'm sure it carries some though). It's also worth noting that The Hunter and OMRTS were more or less their break from doing concept albums, so their first four albums, in their songwriting, would be more closely related to the songwriting process of EoS.

Bill is so well spoken and gives so much great insight on this band's journey. From Remission to Emporer of Sand, this band does not cease to amaze. I do wonder though, if Brent writes much of the music anymore other than solos because it seems that the other three take on all the duties, at least in these 'making of' videos.
@DezDav4
@DezDav4 7 жыл бұрын
According to Brann's reddit AMA, Brent played on/contributed something to every song on EoS. But yeah to me it definitely seems like Brent has been writing less. He also seems to have aged the most judging from the photos in this episode, probably from all the drugs and alcohol.

I remember the first song I heard by you guys. It was Iron Tusk, and I heard it on whatever Tony Hawk game it was on. American Wasteland I think. I tuned off all the other songs and let Iron Tusk just repeat. Been listening to all your stuff ever since. This album blew me away as it definitely has a little from various stages of Mastodons past in there. Keep up the awesome work guys.

I love how Mastodon seems to be aware that they are a very huge band right now, and instead of acting like pretentious high and mighty dicks, they are very humble, sincere, and informative, and seem to want to share the hows, whys, and whats of their accomplishments.
