Look. I'm an old man. I know Celtic Frost, Exodus, Anthrax. Pantera, Slayer, Megadeth, PRONG, Corrosion of Conformity, Down, etc etc etc... these are all EXCELLENT BANDS. I am not a "Mastodon Fan" ... I just started hearing them...2020 or so, but I gotta tell you. I'm 53 yrs old and this is an instant classic. A masterpiece. It may be one of the top ten songs ever written. It IS IN MY EYES.

no matter how mad i get at times with how bad this show went downhill, this song easily takes me back to that perfect time in the middle seasons, when the mystery of what they are & what they want was more satisfying than almost any answer we might get. back when the show still seemed perfect in almost all ways.

This song carries a lot of sadness and sense of loss. It is a damn good song. The Gibson SG work at the end carries this sadness perfectly into thw song's conclusion.

LYRICS: Will there ever be a moment I won't feel this heat coming up from ground? Will there ever be a time when I can show myself through open doors? All I need is you to tell me how to reconcile this guilt and shame I've already ripped myself to pieces and I've given it away All the weight lies upon my shoulders from The great disruption It's hard to breathe inside these waves of doubt Tidal destruction Can you tell me how to wish away this chaos making my head spin? Can you tell me how to soothe the savage beast locked up inside these walls? Will there ever be a place that I can hide and heal these open sores? Or do I have to cut them out and eat them as my people adore? All the weight lies upon my shoulders from The great disruption It's hard to breathe inside these waves of doubt Tidal destruction I have, I have lost my way Reaching, reaching for today I have, I have lost my way Reaching, reaching for today Say when And I'll come running back Say when And I'll come running back Say when And I'll come running back Say when And I'll come running back

The part about flying up through a Crack in the Skye (Brans Sister RIP) is EPIC. It always reminds me of the epic part in Rush's 2112 that soars & takes you to the next level. Gives me goosebumps every time

Diary of a Madman by Ozzy had to be an inspiration for this track.
