To celebrate my 100th casting video (be it a true to form restoration or a custom) I have chosen to restore something a bit more grandiose. This is the 24C Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, that had it's own polished metal grille don't you know! This one did at least, until someone had painted over it in this ugly blue/grey... The repaint had fingerprints left imbedded on the bodywork, while the base lacked much paint at all. The window had been cracked on the driver's side, while the artist had stuck the boot/trunk shut. Of all my restorations to date, I think this one came out closest of any to the original model. Let me know what you think in the comments! Thank you for sticking around, and thanks especially if you have watched all of the 100 castings being fixed up!

Here from Reddit, Congrats on the video! I managed to find a 24a Rolls Royce silver shadow today and there are only 2 very small chips in the paint, also acquired a Opel Diplomat in good condition as well.

Congratulations on your 100th video. I wish you would do 400 more. (No pressure!) I notice that you include details on the actual car's history as well as the diecast casting's history. What I think you misunderstand is that the wheels on this casting were/are the transition wheels from the black plastic to the "Superfast" wheels. They are not exclusive to this casting. They are rare among castings because they were offered for a limited time as Lesney was battered in the marketplace by Mattel's Hot Wheels line. Several corporate owners later, Mattel owns Matchbox. As one who collects what I like as opposed to simply collecting a brand exclusively, I am grateful that the line survived, and that the distinct differences remain between each. Safety and 🎅-tize. ( Pronounced "Santa-tized" as opposed to "Father Christmas-tized".) Have fun with your toys!

Thanks for the comment! I refer to this as a regular wheels casting to differentiate it from the Superfast era (post 1969 for the vast majority), regardless if they actually had the 'regular wheels' or the chrome hubs with tyres etc. I use the modification of the bases and inclusion of the Superfast badging as the point to separate the two. I'm not sure this is necessarily correct but it works for me. It's all rather confusing anyway so trying to word it properly it will occasionally sound jumbled!

@@DieCastRestos I understand using certain features of castings as to what works for you, however consider your audience. The hobby or the hobbyists have established their own vocabulary of terms for reasons. It usually fosters understanding. It also helps separate for them what is so valuable that it should be left alone from what is so far gone if you don't restore it it will be lost. In a sense they are consumers of your content. They want to be heard and have their needs met and concerns taken seriously. I think it helps you to use their language as it will help your subscriber count. Please don't think I'm trying to offend you or be critical. It's pretty clear you're one of the more articulate and skilled producers in the hobby. I want to increase your viewers and increase the number of producers like you rather than ... well, people who don't know the value of what they're working with and occasionally destroy it.
