This is a makeover of a Matchbox Kingsized vehicle. It is the Scammell 'Heavy wreck truck'. This model had many unique challenges associated with it. I would like to say to all of those people that say that I have 'Dropped the ball' when a video does not come out on time, that you cannot appreciate the time and effort that it takes for one seemingly insignificant youtube video to be filmed, edited, voiced over, polished, have extra scenes added; and then watched, re-watched and then rendered and uploaded to youtube. This 30 minute video took 13 hours of my life to produce. I hope that you appreciate it. Please watch to the end as Kevin shows up, once again, to make my life miserable! :(

Speaking from experience, I can tell you that there's no more effective way to lose a love for a hobby than to weigh it down with my own high and unnecessary expectations. It gets to the point where it's a chore, and then to the point where everything about it is so anxiety-ridden because of unmet self-set expectations that after a while, if something doesn't change, you end up never wanting to have anything to do with it again. Don't go down this road, Marty. I feel like many a KZfaqr has, and don't want to see you join their ranks. You started this for love of the hobby, and it would be a shame to see you lose that. As hard as you press yourself to get these out on a schedule, I feel like you're missing some of the joy in it that brought you here. Don't let that happen. Because you know what? It's much ado about nothing. We'll get the videos when we get them. And if they're "late" (late according to whom, anyway?) we're gonna live. So stop being so hard on yourself. Stop apologizing for "lateness" because it's grand you put these videos out at all. And maybe consider that instead of continuing to struggle with your own expectations, perhaps it's time you thought about resetting ours and your own. Find a schedule that works for you and yet still allows you the joy of the craft. We will adjust, I promise you. It would be far worse for you to go on as you are, and eventually let the pressure of producing videos get you to the point where you don't even want to touch these things anymore. Many thanks for all you do! Now go take some time to recharge and live your life. We'll see you when we see you. :D

J Asher, thank you for all you have said, Marty does push himself too hard he hates to let people down and he feels hes doing that by not getting a video out on a Saturday night . He has a full time job and these videos take all his spare time, having said that he still enjoys what he does. Julie

@@MartysMatchboxMakeovers Thank you Julie for watching out for Marty. As you are aware, many men are afraid to admit things that appear to make them less manly. "A manly man keeps his word, finishes his work and does not grumble. This sort of attitude led to my drinking too heavily at one time. In order to quit drinking, I had to re-evaluate my attitudes toward work. It is OK for Marty to change his plans, revise his goals, abandon former goals, take on new ones, all at his own leisure. If he continues to add stress to his life, it may ooze out in other unforeseen ways. Thank goodness he has you.

Don't worry, a good lawyer can smooth things out for you That’s a gritty way to go. But you simply rubbed him the wrong way. Hopefully they have a sand your ground law But you ended up rubbing him out But you ended up blowing him away? I'd say that's some rough justice You just need to stay the coarse. True Grit a case has been filed against you Things got pretty rough I guess Thats a rough way to die The only investigation was an officer I saw-dust(ing) for prints I under sand You've been scuffed by/ You've been killed by/ A harsh criminal. Some people can be abrasive, but murder?

Thanks for all you hard work Marty, and a special thanks for putting up with Kevin. He just needs positive leadership and guidance. By encouraging him, listening to him, showing him understanding, and being a strong male role model, you will be a positive influence on his development, so he will have a strong work ethic and become a valued member of society........If that doesn't work you can always beat the daylights out of him!

Yes, baking the paint may well give it an extra shine - I always used to do that working in cold temperatures otherwise the gloss paint would dry matt in places! Lacquer on metallic paint gives it that extra lift though imo. Great job as ever.

That’s brought back some memories for me watching that. I had a gold one back in the 1970’s - my mum bought it for me after enduring a pretty horrific filling. It came from Woolworths that used to be on the opposite side of the road …I can still recall the shop sign outside the window through tear filled eyes! I’d love to find it and revamp mine.

Hi Marty and Family, thanks for making this video on the restoration of the Scammel Wrecker truck. I had the white one and I put it through hell without a doubt. You did an absolute masterful refurbishment of this model. You got to careful that Kevin doesn't cherry pick your tow or recovery job while your talking . Keep up the excellent work. I believe that the care you take in casting prep and the primer set you apart from other refurbisher.
