This model was not too bad but I wanted it to look right for my ever increasing collection. I had done one before in a different colour scheme. They came out in two different colours and had different decals. One was yellow and 'Pointer' brand, this one is the orange 'Douglas' branded model. Both look equally impressive! I also went the extra yard and pumped out a replica box for this model as something different for my viewers to ponder. Hope you all enjoy the content and the unexpected ending!

Marty. Can’t believe you replied. THANK YOU. I love Australia and as a pro pilot and involved in GPS technology throughout the 1990s I have been to your part of the word many times. I have about 100 1960 / 1970s matchbox cars. I love your channel. I am semi retired and am looking forward to “restoring” them. Your videos are wonderful. Please bear in mind I am not complaining and am sure you have no control. For example, this morning on this video here are the commercials: Time zero when you start - liberty mutual. (Typical on most). 3 min 10 sec - Groupon. 9 min 56 sec - don’t even remember. 17 min 00 sec Liberty mutual. 23 min 20 sec - Liberty mutual. And one at the end. So about 6 or 7. Please just do one a week and enjoy it. Do not feel an obligation. I would rather wait and enjoy high quality worthwhile. Yes dental tools are great. I did a lot of plastic model building, HO trains and radio control stuff. Your regular dentist will be happy to give you some of their “old” tools. Stay away from cheap stuff from online. Enjoy! Great video as always! In case you're interested, I worked for the Douglas organisation for some time, based in their Birmingham, UK head office. Sir Robert Douglas founded the firm as civil engineering contractors, mainly relating to concreting works. In the 50's/60's the firm were heavily involved in building the main motorway system in the UK, including works in and around Birmingham using gravel extracted from a patch of land across the road from the offices! When finished, the gravel pits were landscaped and are now a beautiful park, much used by the staff for fresh air at lunch times!! So it's good to see one of the firm's wagons still in use, even if it half a world away....Sir Robert would be proud!

It's an AEC (Associated Equipment Company) Mammoth Major. They became part of Leyland Commercials. Great video Marty, always enjoy them thanks. I'm in the uk.

AEC was also the manufacturer of the chassis of the traditional London buses, like the one in your 'newspaper', so two AECs in one video!

I call it a bobbin sander. The Dremel isn’t a tool I use often but when I do need it, it’s the only tool that will do for the job! Very handy little thing!

Another quality video! I really appreciate how you take the extra time to include the sight gags and other jokes, it adds so much to your videos and elevates them above simple restoration videos. I like the idea that the AEC stands for the Atomic Energy Commission, and they use the truck to haul off atomic waste. So, If your yard glows at night, you know they've been dumping in your neighborhood. Good job, Marty! Always fun to watch. And you need to keep a closer eye on Kevin.

First: I don't know Marty so no ulterior motive - head on over and support Marty on Patreon. Those supplies cost $. I personally think he deserves a bit of my $ since KZfaq don't pay squat. Second: Marty - I believe I speak for most when I say the moment this starts to be a chore with your day job decrease the video count like only record every other restoration. Doing the recording has to triple the time it takes to do one of these. Third: There are few if any KZfaq channels that consistently bring a smile to my growly mug. Always with your videos Marty. Another great resto, these videos frequently bring back a memory of a model that i had as a kid in the UK in the 50s and 60s. I recall an articulated horse box with a ford Thames trader prime mover, i had to jam a small piece of paper in the tail gate to keep it closed. And memories of others that i haven't thought of since i was a kid .

Marty, you constantly twang my sentimental nerve but the Douglas tipper almost made me cry. Not only did I have the model, literally hundreds of the real ones used to rumble past my old school , Greenholm Road in Birmingham UK when they built the M6 back in the mid to late 60s. Keep up the good work chap.

Hello! I say thanks for you videos. sometimes watching your video is only thing that make me feel better. It is freshing to remember that one can find joy in small things like old toys, perhaps thats why it's so pure because you don't have to take it so adult-serious but serious like childrens play. Another great restoration Marty. My mum worked at the Matchbox factory in the sixties on a press machine. I had a chat with her about it last weekend. Dad still has some boxed vehicles in the loft from that time.

Yes. When my brother and I were young Mum did all types of different jobs. So we were given cars when she was at Matchbox and ice cream when she was working at Lyons Maid!

If the container with the silver paint is tight to open , rather than using grips to undo the top run hot water over the top for a couple of minutes and the top will come off easily .Or sit the container in a small bowl of near boiling water will also soften the paint as well stop it getting gluggy . Great video by the way 👍

I used to have a couple of the Douglas 8 wheeled tippers and they were my favorites so this was a very neat tutorial to watch. You have a lot of helpful tips in this as well. Thanks for taking time to share this with us.

I just love you're subtle humour, also the sparks flying towards the end was a great affect. Another great source of chrome paint is White Knights super chrome or gold aerosol paint, just spray a little into the lid for small jobs. You can find it at Bunnings hardware. Cheers.
