This episode includes a double makeover of two Matchbox 'Yesteryear' models of the 'Osram Lamps' delivery truck which existed in real life between 1916 to 1921. The Matchbox model first came out in 1957 and continued in production until 1960.
These models were donated by Stan Flatters (UK) and William Deegan (USA).
I had a bit of fun with one of the models and attempted to detail the driver and also add some minor extra details to the truck.
I shall be giving one of these trucks away in the next video. Just comment and include Kevin's quote of the day to be in the draw!

The driver's side 'door' was a fixed panel, as the gear lever and hand brake were on the right hand side of the driver leaving no room to access the compartment.

Also, boarding the vehicle was done from the passenger side which faced the sidewalk, for safety and because not all streets were paved back then and were often muddy.

Some delivery vehicles only have access on the passenger side keeping the driver safer by accessing the cab closest to the sidewalk(away from trafic).

A sponsor, wow. I have that truck. It was 45cents at Harold's Toys in Brooklyn New York in 1963, reduced for clearance. "Werewolf Seized In Southend", how strange is that. We have bigger problems now in the USA, believe me.

Another beautiful restoration! "Snitches get snitches" I think it's a very smart model. Those first series cars have so much character to them. It always surprises me how much model details are actually hidden by the paints. Please keep up the good work.

I know I'm a bit late to the party but just found this channel now. I wanted to say that I appreciate you simply repairing the vehicles to their former glory as opposed to turning them into something new. While I don't think there is anything wrong making it your own I do like that you don't make drastic changes to the models.

I am of the generation that as a child getting a original Matchbox toy on a Saturday morning from the Matchbox display stand at the toy shop in town is still a memory i carry fondly . Amazing work Marty. Your craftsmanship never ceases to amaze me. When you took off the wheels, I never would have noticed the difference in the back and front wheels as you did. So insignificant, yet detailed. Kevins quote was "Snitches get stitches!"

I have a 1929 Ford Model AA which has a factory installed door lock. The door lock is actually on the passenger door. I'm trying to figure that one out. Kevin said, "Snitches get stitches?" It kind of makes me wonder about his past. Or, maybe I should just not wonder about such things... Definitely a great restoration!

Great restoration job and utter nostalgia , this was about the 4th Lesney ' Models Of Yesteryear ' I bought as a child over 60 years ago with my 2 shillings a week pocket money , from The Granta Bureau toy shop in Cambridge ,U.K.From memory it was a little over 2 shillings and the next one was the Jacobs Biscuits Leyland lorry .They are still up in the loft !.
