Both are my favourite players.. but for me its really unfortunate to see Jason lose (again).. Been waiting for him to win a major tournament from matchroom, he deserves it I think.. Congrats for Josh, hope he win this tournament in his own country 🎉🎉 Can't wait for Josh and Shaw play together again in Mosconi, really great couple both of them..

this match was a perfect example of winning vs beating your opponent. Filler won the match, but he didn’t beat Shaw. any time Filler had a dry break, Shaw had no shot on the 1. or if Filler did make a ball on the break but didn’t have a shot afterwards, he’d just play a safety. Shaw capitalized on every opportunity he got, but there werent many of those. this is why not doing alternate breaks is stupid. whats the point in just watching your opponent run rack after rack, and them never leaving you a shot when they dont run it. unless you get a chance to break you will always be at the disadvantage. this is the pros, not the amateurs. it’s literally a breaking competition when they aren’t doing alternate breaks

I don’t like alternate breaks unless it’s a short race. If it’s a breaking competition while ‘winner break’ why would making it alternate break change that? The break is the most important shot always. If anything the break is even more important and impactful during alternate break matches. You have to win on your break every time if both players are playing well, if you mess up just once you may never have a chance to string two racks together to catch up. You break dry, other dude wins on your break, then you go back to trading BNR and predictively and boringly lose the match by 2. Even Socrates knew that winner break was the only way to play pool. Except for one pocket and 14.1

@@theabhorrentchef7226 I saw a match between Joshua Filler and Ko pin Chung where they lagged for first break. The winner of the lag breaks. The other player breaks the second rack. (Alternate break, so far, but...) Now it switches to winner break, with the winner of the second rack breaking the third. But... A player may not break more than two consecutive racks. For practical purposes, I couldn't tell the difference between that and plain ol' alternate break. What's the best solution... lag for every break? I don't know if I like that idea. I'm trying to get used to it. Hmm... Loser break? Low score break?
