We were new to homeschooling last year and tried Teaching Textbooks and Saxon and my son went from loving math to dreading math with both of those. We switched to Apologia Math 3 for the win!! We are now finishing up level 4 and ordered level 5 for next year. Great choice!!

My one will use math u see. He always has and does great with it. My younger will be a mix of math u see and TGTB

We LOOOVVEEE Apologia math! 😄 My twins used level 3 and almost done with level 4 and will be using through level 6! It is perfection. They do have a password in the book and you go to their website and print out practice sheets for that extra practice. But nothing wrong with using MB along side either just wanted to let you know those extra practice sheets are there and available. The teacher guide/answer key tells you which skills sheet to do with each lesson. I use Math With Confidence with you younger kids. I like that too. It’s definitely more hands on which I don’t mind for the early grades and I like how it teaches them to think about numbers. I’ve never used the lower grades of Apologia so I don’t know how they compare. But from a teacher aspect I like Apologia better. It’s more open and go.

@@beachgurl788 what are you currently using/have you used anything yet? I am currently using The Good and Beautiful level K to teach my just turned 7 yr old to read. It’s very open and go and easy to use! For ease of use and loveliness of curriculum I’d give it 5 ⭐️. But I know some influencers say it’s not ‘good enough’ to teach children to read. My oldest daughter learned to read extremely well with it. My son has dyslexia so it didn’t work for him. But I think if you take it slow/don’t push it can work well. They have to know how to read CVC words starting in the Kindergarten level. Some other options that I feel are easy to use for a busy mama are Happy Cheetah, Prenda Treasure Hunt Reading, and a book simply called The Reading Lesson.

Apologia math has been such a blessing for us! I love Kathryn Gomes approach to math. Last year was our first year homeschooling, and we went through so many math curriculums before discovering Apologia. I got level 6 in the mail last week and it looks amazing! ❤️

We continue with use Saxon Math (going on 7 years now with it too!) - some times I wonder if we should ever change things up - but it seems like Saxon has been good for our kids. I like how it is designed for the students to eventually do their math independently (well most of it!). Thanks Shauna for sharing what you use - there is so much good (and bad) curriculum out there and it is nice to get reviews on them.

I’ll have a 6th grader as well and we’ll be doing math u see and masterbooks together. Masterbooks is gentle so I know it’ll work.

Next year my oldest will be a jr!!! We never used apologia for math but I’m hearing good stuff!!! We love MWC for my younger kids!!! Masterbooks have a math practice book!!! Nothing wrong with supplementing!!!im still researching math for next year!!!

Hi! Wanted your insight on something! I did the place test for my daughters ones a rising kindergarten and the other rising 2nd grader. For MB my young one can do Level 1 and the other one can do Level 3 but I was interested and also including apologia and using both. Do you think that they like up pretty well by levels both of these curriculums?

Hi! We are in the middle of our move (still unpacking) so I have not had a chance to sit down and fully review it yet but from the glance I had at apologia and from my actual experience using the level 2 MB math with my son I would say time wise they should line up well as they both seem very gentle. As far as content I’m not sure but will be doing a full review and possibly even a comparison review. If you haven’t subscribed then be sure to so you’re notified when it’s posted. I’m hoping to do them sooner rather than later.
