I adore Nicole and Richard's relationship in this show. On the surface, it might seem like the overdone "dumbass Dad, overworked Mom" sitcom trope, but I think the point is supposed to be that both of them are at the opposite extremes when it comes to parenting (Nicole is overbearing, while Richard is way too laid-back), and they help each other reach a happy medium when it comes to raising their kids.

This show is so unhinged, but it still somehow manages to be super heartwarming. I love it.

You should watch The Origins next! It's about Darwin and how he became a part of the family :D One of the best ones in the show imo

What’s also somewhat weird is how it is actually canon that Richard can not get a job, not because he can’t work, but instead if he does get a job, the entire world as they know it will actually break until everything is glitched or restored or the episode ends

One reason why I love this episode so much is that we can see she is pregnant before they got married, which is really cool to me because it’s a kids/teen show and I had never seen that in one before!

Facts about Richard: his dad was in and out of jail and was a horrible father to Richard to the point where he just left completely. His mom was taking care of him his whole life and eventually kicked him out because he was almost an adult

This episode (specially the apocalypse part) is one of the main reasons I find that Villainous episode, where Nicole was mentioned to have studied to be a villain alongside Flug, so plausible XD. Richard may have pretty much saved their world :P. Oh! It would be great to see Mathew reacting to Villainous, either the first shorts, the orientation videos for villains or the actual show. It would be great ^w^

11:00 yeah about that.. Fun fact : there is a certain clown character in TAWOG that appears from time to time sometimes he's directly involved with the episode and other times he's hidden in the background just... staring... It's very creepy-

something to note with this show is even though it stays episodic pretty much the whole way through, there is quite a lot of continuity, so its good to keep that in mind while watching it out of order like this

you should watch the episode "the parents". The episode you watched was nicole's parents first appearence and in "The parents" they show up again finally seeing their daughter after all these years. I think it would be really interesting (and emotional) after just watching this one

Gumball really is an incredible show, my dad who typically hates these kids shows loved watching it with me till it got cancelled. Also I somehow didn’t notice he was saying prescription hugs because he was a hippie/stoner

Generally, Richard is very stupid thanks to his mom's poor responsibility of taking care of him. Nicole grew up with pushy and messed up like perfectionist parents which caused her to be the outrageous and overworking person she is today. Although, I am kind off glad that she went with Richard instead of the other guys like Tobias's dad who clearly have a lot of issues, Banana bobs dad who is quite irritating and bothering or Penny's dad who have a lot of issues like not wanting Penny to break out of her shell and showing psychotic hatred to Gumball. I would choose someone who is nice and stupid than most characters who needs therapy if I am Nicole because even though Richard doesn't have knowledge, he is generally nice to Gumball, Darwin and Anais. Although it is tough because the dad is unemployed, I understand Nicole's suffering of economic crisis because she does the heavylifting for the family. Hopefully, Anais can help support the family as she grows older because she is the smartest in the family and she can take care of herself. Even though, she likes to use her knowledge to manipulate people like Gumball, Darwin, Nicole, Richard(The ep about them fighting the TV remote for a cretain show they want to watch), she is still harmless and the most normal person in the amazing world of gumball.

You should watch The Origins next it basically explains how they adopted Darwin

I just wanna give you another recommendation related to gumball too. There is another “backstory” episode, but this one is about how Darwin and Gumball and how they met. It’s a quite wholesome of an episode. And I strongly recommend it if you wanna see some wholesome gumball related stuff. There is also one about Anais and her backstory of her when she was younger, it’s… wholesome? In some kinda way. But I do recommend both of them

Gumball's family pretty much mirrors my own family. My father, God rest his soul, never really had much luck at work, so he was a stay at home dad for the most part. My mom was the breadwinner, and they had three children. Although things can get a bit hectic and chaotic from time to time, I love my family, and I wouldn't have it any other way. So, watching this episode back then really hit home for me
