This movie is so special to me. The magic in Matilda wasn't her super powers but her inner strength. Everyone deserves a Ms. Honey in their life. They were the sweet light at the end of the tunnel. So precious it makes me cry.

Something great we have to appreciate is how Trunchbull isn't a dumb brute. Like, she's smart enough to understand someone took her chocolates, she can understand who scammed her and hoe much power she has over the children of the school. She isn't just some easily manipulated villain, she is a threat.

I like the way she says “whose in my house” and starts to stomp up the stairs. Also how just by noticing something small like the lid misplaced on the chocolate box and the smell right away she knows someone is there. Just a great movie overall, proud to be a 90s kid and growing up with these great movies.

When I was a kid, this was terrifying. Now, as an adult, it still scares me, but the Trunchabull's exclamations always have me cracking up, laughing. "Crush the little weasel!" and "I'm gonna take that no-good jalappa you sold me and shove it up your BAZOOKA!"

I also laugh at the part when the Trunch is buying a car from Matilda's Dad. And she says, "They're all mistakes, children. Filthy, nasty things. Glad I never was one." I didn't catch it when I was little, but, now, when I watch it, it always makes me laugh.

What blows my mind is that the overall duration of this scene only comes to just under 10 minutes. This whole entry-and-escape sequence felt like at least 30 watching it as a kid! Props to Danny DeVito, Pam Ferris & the rest of the team for bringing such a masterpiece to life !! Still gets my heart racing 25+ years on

This film always impresses me with how mature it is. It may be a children’s film, but the way it handles is subject matter does so in a way that is not condescending, and assumes a great level of emotional intelligence in its audience. It holds up now that I’m an adult too and I remember watching it with my mum too(who is no longer with me) and how she also enjoyed it. This scene alone, should be an example to other film makers. It is intense and perfectly paced. The performances really blow me away. It will always be a favourite of mine and a prime example of how you shouldn’t condescend to children to give them an enjoyable film experience.

This scene was probably so much fun to film. I hope for Pam Ferris’s sake it didn’t take too many takes to film because of the suit she wore to make her embody the Trunchbull was very warm and she said in an interview a little over a year after she finished filming the movie most days in LA it was over 100 degrees.

Even if Miss Trunchbull is the villain, I think she is funny, especially when she gets frustrated with many things. Her character is the perfect persona of an English witch, who is clever and likes to cackle. She might smile and say to a boy or a girl in a cackling voice, "Come to me, my pretty! Heh-heh-heh!"

Rightly so, Danny Devito gets a lot of credit for this film but huge credit to Pam Ferris. You can see the determination to act so well, simply by seeing how much she lives the role, I mean look at her sweat! She didn't have to scream so loud or shout so loud. Got a sneaking suspicion that the 'Tally-Ho!!!' jump was her idea!

I remember being a kid and sitting in the middle of the floor watching this one day. I didn't know my parents were sitting on the couch behind me, watching as well. When I turned and look they were so invested into the movie. They looked TERRIFIED during this scene. lol
