Oh Matilda, this was another wonderful video! I’ve loved brown lipstick since Bobbi Brown debut her brown based lip colors more than 30 years ago. I’m cool toned and super fair skin so my brown choices in lipstick are carefully curated. Right now, my favorite brown toned lip color is #15 Tailored Nude by Dries Van Noten.

i used to never go for brown lips but after picking up a brown lip gloss on a whim it’s actually the most flattering family for my features, who knew ?!? i feel very drawn to those warm browny berry/rose shades like the first lipstick you showed!!

Time to pull out my brown glosses from Nyx. And Black Honey, of course! Mixing and matching for perfect shades and finishes. Too deep? Put a little nude on it. Leans too gray or cool? Dab on some pink or peach. Too flat matte? Tap on that gloss. Or, mute that spring pink with a chocolate gloss lightly over top. Recent acquisition: Mildred Rosewood by Gucci. Splurged on the ONE new shade in my lip color collection for fall.

I'm so happy that brown lips came back in style as I never stopped wearing them! I remember getting a gorgeous brown Dior lipstick in 1996, and I went back the next day, and they were all sold out. I loved Mac's brown "Fetish" lipstick. I have to look for my CT Birkin Brown. All of the colors here are gorgeous, many I have, lol. Thank you for showcasing these beautiful brown lippies❤

I SCREAMED. I've been so excited for this specific video! I love a brown-toned lip. I used to love Fenty's Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick in Shawty (a warm dark brown with a hint of brick), which has sadly been discontinued. Been looking for a dupe ever since. I definitely gravitate towards browns with a hint of red or berry. Merit's L'avenue has been in heavy rotation for months. Pillow Talk Intense looks GORGEOUS. Thanks for putting that on my radar. I actually haven't bitten the bullet on CT lipsticks yet but I've been eyeing MI Kiss and Walk of No Shame for ages (both renames, I know). I'm still not totally sure which one would suit me more.

I've always gone for orange-y lipsticks but last year I went ham on berry lipsticks and particularly dark berry. I think it looks so cool, so I always love to go for a dark mauve-y lipstick currently! Thanks for sharing your faves!

Thank you! Something that I haven’t found a good example of recently except for Surratt Haute Chocolate, is; where are some great brown satin eyeshadows? You’d think these are a basic, a staple, what with being friendly to all ages and for the ultimate basic makeup one-and-done look, but where are some great ones? Even some in the indie world, where they sell single pans, this seems like a hard color-finish combo to find lately. I wonder if you’d find this a worthwhile nut to crack? Ooh this sounds like an excellent challenge! 🧐🤎 I think @ttsandra would be up to the task too - Chantecaille's not-flat matte shadow shade Sylvie has been on my wishlist after seeing her wearing it so often. The Charlotte Tilbury Super Nudes palette comes to mind initially as that formula isn't as flat as the Makeup By Mario Master Mattes for example, and I just saw Jo Baker post the Chanel Les Beiges palette in Intense which looked lovely! x

cannot tell you how much ive waited for this video Matilda!! I'm such a big fan of you and the minimalist way you showcase makeup! My mother who wore brown in her teens introduced me to brown lipsticks and I don't think I've stopped since then. My personal faves are Revlon Superstar brown which is a neutral brown and Dior rouge dior in 300 nude style velvet which you would describe as a brownie with raspberries in it!! Hope you try these! This was such a great roundup Matilda! I always look forward to all your comparisons of the different color stories! Rosy or burgundy browns are my favorite browns Or a burgundyish lipstick with a brownish gloss on top - all those will make a shade autumnal for me. I love a cooler brown or burgundy shade as I don’t look good in warm tones with my cooler neutral light olive skin. Love Lisa Eldridge painterly, sorcery, and decade. Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk deep and medium are also favs. Black honey has been in my makeup collection since I discovered Clinique makeup 30 years ago. And a gorgeous brown gloss is fentys hot chocolate. I will have to check out this Bobbi brown one and meet me in Berlin as well as a couple other rosy browns.

i've never owned a brown lipstick that actually read as brown on me - i have cool toned skin, so everything i've tried reads orange. i have discovered that purple-toned browns are really nice on me through a particular favourite eyeshadow, and i have a purple-brown lipstick coming in the post soon that i'm hoping will match nicely! (and if you have any purple-brown lipstick or lipgloss reccomendations, i'd love to hear them :D )

I've been waiting for this video! Browns and brown-y berries are my all time favorite lipstick shades. Right now I'm loving Meet Me in Berlin, but interested in trying 1990. Regarding other shade ranges, in the Spring I'd love to see purple/orchid/lavender shades.

Love the options. I always need a little brown in my red and berry lipsticks or it looks like I’m wearing neon pink. I remember Clinique had a great brown shade called Pink Chocolate. Don’t know if they still make it but it was great. Different Grape is another shade that they still have around. Perfect if you can’t find Black Honey.

I am on a HUNT for the perfect cool or neutral brown. I’m super pale with ginger hair so most warm browns appear orange on me. My closest “perfect browns” so far are 1993 from Urban Decay, Fenty Beauty’s Hot Chocolit lip gloss, and Makeup by Mario’s Mocha Glow!! But now 1990 is def on my list to try!!

I’m more of a rose/pink/red type of lipstick girl, and I find it really hard to find a brown that suits me for some weird reason. With the exception of that Lisa Eldridge in shade Painterly, love how it looks on me! And her other lipstick in the shade Rose Official is my lips but better color😊 Love her lipsticks!!

Love the Merit lipstick formula! I always pair Slip with their tinted lip oil in Taupe for my perfect neutral nude lip. Will have to swatch 1990 next time I'm at Sephora 🍂

These all look beautiful, sadly I don't wear many brown shades anymore but I still have a few favourites. I love a old YSL that I can't even remember what it was called. Charlotte Tilbury nude Kate isn't brown but that is lovely as well. There was also a Elizabeth Arden shade but I also don't remember the name, so lovely but ❤

I love brown lipsticks ❤ I have the Glossier brown ones (Leo and Malt) and Fuzz, which coworkers have complemented. I want to try the brown Merit one and so 90s by Charlotte Tillbury. I always go for mattes. I recently bought Gifted by Rare Beauty and am excited to wear it.

One of my favorite browns are Lisa Eldridge (Affair, Meet me in Berlin, Painterly), Gucci " a Royal Scandal", Siyley (Beige Baly)on me is brown with orange undertones, Armani Lip Power lipstick (201)

Would love to see mauve-soft pinky neutrals in a lipstick review. By the way, I just tried the signature lipstick in “Baby” by MERIT because of your high reviews and I agree-it’s comfortable, sheer, easy, and a perfect everyday color! I love your videos. They are so comforting and satisfying watching swatches and hearing about textures and color 🤩 Revlon Lustrous Lipstick colors: Mink and Pink Truffle… Pink Truffle is online only but absolutely underrated. Please look into it. It’s one of their Sheer formulas and so comfortable, beautiful color. I have it on auto-ship because it’s my daily color 😬. I do enjoy Glossier Cachet. It’s comfortable and not too pigmented. It has a hint of Berry as you stated! I need some sort of red, berry, or pink in my browns. Straight out brown makes me look too sick. But, layering some reds and berry colors with a brown like Mink is great to get more use out of those too!

I love these! I’m fair like you so I love the red-berry-brown sheer but buildable vibe. Matilda, you’ve sold me on Painterly *again!!* I think you’d love Nars Tanganyka. It’s like the sheer burnt berry brown sister to Nars Gipsy. Like an elevated version of Black Honey. Also Nars Maltese Red is a deep inky figgy red-brown that I love sheered out with balm but can be beautiful and vampy at full strength. MAC Spice it Up would also fit right in with the sheer, buildable burnt reddish brown theme in your video. I know you weren’t wowed by it after my rec in your black honey dupe video, but I urge you to try it again, sheered out and/or blotted down. It can be really lovely. It wears off evenly and leaves a berry stain behind. HG. I also love it dabbed on my cheeks as a cream blush-cheek stain. Merit L’Avenue is another lovely brown berry that I love blotted down and sheered out. I love the new shades of Glossier Gen G and I think you would too. Fuzz is a perfect MLBB deeper rosy brown-nude, Malt is a cooler neutral muted brown-nude, (and Punch is a gorgeous rosy berry red that you would love for spring.) If you get to Ulta or Target in the States, check out the ELF O Face lipsticks for a budget thrill. They have some nice reds and a nice cool plum reddy-brown called Standout (I think that’s the name) that would fit in nicely with the shades in this video. You should also try the CoverGirl Fresh Tinted lip balm in Bliss You Berry for a juicy deep rich but sheer blackberry. An excellent, elevated execution of a black honey type balm plus it’s inexpensive! Love your swatches and deep dives into themes like this. My favorite!

🤎🍫 This reminds me of being in school and cutting out images from Cleo magazine to stick onto my school books (thinking Revlon, Maybelline) 😂 I love MAC lipstick in shade Hug Me, which i would call a nudey rosey brown, would love to try a darker brown so this has given me some inspo!

I don't believe in this category unfortunately Farah! While it's great that many makeup products now include ingredients with skincare benefits, I would never use them in place of my actual skincare routine 👍💙 It's not going to have a real impact when you're only applying small amounts of makeup x

Bobbi brown crushed lip color is by far THE best purchase I made from all other "influencer influenced me to buy" products. Most of the time the product didn't really perform as best as I thought/hoped on me, despite the extensive research I did before buying. Buuut.. not with BB crushed lip color lipsticks! I liked it a lot that I bought 2 other shades after the first purchase 😂
