12 years later , I watch every singing show and this is still my #1 . There have been some great singers and performances since Matt but my vote for best of all time is this performance.

When I hear this rendition, I picture myself floating in outer space with the love of my life gazing upon the majesty of the universe feeling ultimate love in my heart gazing upon the wonders of the galaxy and taking in all of its gifts. It's rare that anything can give you that feeling and this rendition did that for me. Best version of any song I've ever heard

I remember this audition like it was yesterday. That week the love of my life had moved thousands of miles away to live in the middle east and it brought me to tears. 12 years later and we are now married and she lies asleep beside me now expecting our first child while I stroke her hair to this rendition of the song. Love has a way of finding its way :)

May 2021. Has a soldier I first listened to this song in 1972 in the main cookhouse in Palace Bks, Hollywood, nr, Belfast . The song was sung by Roberta Flak on the old jukebox, (fabulous acoustics). The song was and still is my all time favourite,for me to listen to. That was until one Saturday evening watching ITVs, X factor, Mr Matt Cardle sang this song. It is to my mind the very best version of The song, First Time Ever I Saw Your Face . Thank you for posting this condensed version of his performance that night. John and Sara R.
