My dad took me to a baseball game when I was 5. He also brought one of his clients from Brazil with us. He had never been to the USA or a baseball game before. The client got very scared when we picked him up and he saw me in the car. "You're bringing your son to the game? Are you sure? How will you keep him safe?" Sports in other countries get pretty wild.

Thats an interesting story lol makes me think about all the football, baseball, and basketball games i played in. Also about the differences between what i experienced and what its like in other countries. A good example is the World Cup winners and how many people were partying about it after. I think it was Argentina and they had like millions of people out in the streets partying. Mustve been wild. And whoever was selling alcohol probably made bankerino mucho guapo señor

It's pretty normal whenever two rival teams meet. There are a bunch of pairings in the German leagues that require large parts of the cities where the games are held to be fenced off and hundreds if not thousands of police officers will guard all the routes to the stadiums. I hate it.

The superclasico at La Bombanera is 2 hours of terror Other worldly. Even as a European football fan who's well versed in hostile environment this is a level beyond After the chaos of getting in, where you feel like you are entering hades by boat, you get inside and the place looks like it's genuinely on fire. Flares and flaming toilet rolls. Compare that to my country Australia, where fans of opposing football teams can walk among each other to the stadium and not a single fight breaks out before the game, and not a single fight breaks out after the game. Some years ago I served as a diplomat in Argentina. At a reception at the Ambassador's residence I was having a conversation with the Chief of Staff of the Argentine army and the Chairman of the Defense committee of the Argentine Senate. The conversation got around to sports. The general turned to me and asked, "Boca or River?" The senator repeated the question, but in reverse, "River or Boca?" They both stared at me waiting for an answer. I paused, knowing how seriously Argentines take their futbol. If I said Boca the River supporter would be upset, if I said River the Boca supporter would be upset. Having a good relationship with each of these gentlemen was important for my work. I was faced with a dilemma. As the seconds ticked by in silence and the tension mounted, both men repeated in unison -- "Boca or River, who do you follow." So, I followed the lead of a former ambassador and blurted out, "San Lorenzo!" They both laughed profusely. From then until the end of my time in Argentina I had an excellent relationship with each of those gentlemen.

Because Hispanic people are violent and aggressive and psychopathic and have zero care for the value of human life... Compare that to my country Australia, where fans of opposing football teams can walk among each other to the stadium and not a single fight breaks out before the game, and not a single fight breaks out after the game. That's because Australians are better and more intelligent than Hispanic people, especially when it comes to controlling their emotions and actions.

This is why Jim Rome said: “soccer is not a sport, soccer is a reason to riot”. It’s absolutely true, I served as a missionary in Argentina. We were not allowed to go to any soccer games, we weren’t technically even allowed to play soccer in our leisure time unless it was with only other missionaries. People down in South America are nuts about soccer, it’s more important than life itself.

I am female and went to the big rivalry game between Boca and River Plate in January/February 1997. I was with one guy and 2 local chicas. It was loud and raucous. With flaming rolls of toilet paper being thrown...in spite of the security and pat-downs before entering the stadium. Regardless, I was more concerned over the action on the field. Not as a soccer fan, but as a human being. It was worse than an unofficial rugby match. Anytime the officials weren't looking, the opposing team took advantage and just kicked the crap out of someone from the other team. I mean literally kick them. These men can kick...hard. It was freaking brutal.
