I hate the word masher and people who use it unironically. So what if someones a masher, if you play the game seriously and a masher beats you it's not his problem it's yours. People use strategies up to their competitive aptitude in the moment. That's like in basketball if a 7 foot dude can't shoot 3s but he can dunk and people go "dunker!!! You're a dunker!!!! how about you try and shoot every so often even though your making it to the hoop and dunking every offensive play!".

I was a huge fan of the original MK games back in the 90s, but can never get into the new ones precisely because they are so "button mashey." The gameplay has been reduced to memorizing button sequences for auto-combos and applying them at the right moment. The core fighting mechanics serve no purpose other than to set up combos, the combos are overly long and silly and the buttons required to initiate them are completely divorced from their normal functions (kick, punch, etc.) It took me three months to beat MKII when it came out in the arcades. But I was able to beat MK9, X and 11 in the first sitting, even though I barely play games anymore. Allright, rant over... Bring on the "OK, Boomers." :)

I think you are joking but no anyone with some time playing knows mortal kombat to be a rythem based combat of precise inputs to do combos and strategic blocks and use of special abilities for each character. MATT played like I would when I was 6.

Well said. I play video games myself, but always find a balance between real life and them. Even back in high school and college, I saw video games as a reward after facing life's difficulties, not a crutch towards avoiding or escaping them.

Honestly this is just Matt getting payed to play against a guy who isn't very good at the game as well. I wouldn't call him "Pro-gamer" or anything. Also, be EXTREMELLY careful when you tell people how to live their lifes, they may be missing out because they aren't experiencing it fully, but the ONLY question you need to ask is simple, are you good? If yes, then he is living a good life, regardless of YOUR perspective. If he isn't, then he will eventually change because he knows he can do better.

I agree, I play video games and I don't balance that shit at all because I play HOI4 and the autistic Italian AI is too busy doing finger painting in retard class to guard their fucking ports so I waste hours and hours every time babysitting them in this objectively terrible fucking garbage game.
