Thank you for this, I have a 12 year old nephew who’s family aren’t members. He’s taken the missionary lessons and wants to be baptized and to go to church but they won’t allow him to. He’s always asking how he can learn more about the gospel so this will be perfect for him 😊

I was raised in a Bible only church. We had so limited information. No prophet nothing but a Bible. The B attitudes were so precious to me it taught me how to act and think. I read them over and over because I knew they would teach me how to be like Jesus. I loved them so much. Sometimes less information is so much more.

Your teaching style together, the richness of your examples, your backgrounds and knowledge, your very real, pertinent examples …..we thank you from our hearts. We are 79 and 75, but you have such clarity. We learn new things, and enjoy new insights. You both and the production staff are a great blessing. 💕

I love how you teach the Beatitudes! Teaching the beatitudes as a pathway to become more like Jesus Christ is so powerful and gives us so much hope. When Taylor said that "Learning if Joy", I was reminded of something the spirit taught me a few years ago. God's plan of salvation has been described as a "plan of progression" and a "plan of happiness". If we apply the transitive property of equality which says if a=c and b=c, then a=b, we could say that progression = happiness. We can find joy in the journey by just making progress each week. Even when progress feels like baby steps, progress (or learning) as Taylor said will bring us joy. When Tyler was teaching the Beatitudes as steps of progression, I was counting and wondering to myself if there would be 7 steps (since 7 in Hebrew means completion), but there were 8 steps (8 in Hebrew means a new beginning). The connection between step 8 of being "persecuted for righteousness' sake" and step 1 of being "poor in spirit" is a profound one in the context of a new beginning. And then, to connect it with the same blessing "for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" is mind blowing. It is an upward spiral!! I can't help but think of a musical scale with the first seven tones leading to the eight tone which is in essence back to home, only an octave higher. I love the beauty and harmony of the gospel!! Thanks for teaching this beautiful lesson!

Great lesson! I’ve always loved the Sermon on the Mount since I was a child with our huge family Bible on my lap. It’s great to learn new things; the comparison of the first 5 books of the OT to the first 5 chapters of Matthew. That was so cool! I love how you both teach and compliment each other. It has helped me so much these past few years. Bless your hearts. 🥰

Because of your lessons, I feel even closer to the Savior, I love Him more, and I feel I’m gaining insight that helps me to love the scriptures even more. But also, you are instruments in the hands of the Lord as you are demonstrating love and respect for each other. Sometimes I well up with appreciation for how you work together in these lessons, how you treat each other. Loved your explanations and graphics - I copied your steps then paused the video when you said that the world does the opposite - I stepped down each point and yes - the world truly does use the opposite of Christ's teachings. This helps me to understand and be wiser when dealing with others who are not followers of Christ or religious/moral; I will use this to perceive their methods and intentions and not get caught up in their vicious games. Some people love to mess with those of us who won't join in an argument and keep attacking to break us, I work with people like this - I can see clearly where they are heading and where they are coming from. Won't change any situation other than help me feel less attacked knowing that for sure, this is not God's ways.

The thought I am left with at the end of part 1 is the beatitudes are NOT platitudes. I appreciate your description of them as a learning process for me. I appreciate how you connect them to the Book of Mormon. To me they also evoke Micah 6:8. Also the parallel between Matthew 1-5 and the Torah was new and exciting to me.

Thank you, Brethren. I have watched this wonderful presentation several times. I found it challenging to follow at first. This is a presentation I have stopped and started several times, trying to get something out of it with each attempt. I realized my attention and thoughts were, and still are, on the climatic events our country is dealing with at present. It is such a beautiful comfort to come here and hear the word of God. This channel is truly a place of hope, restoration, and peace. I love what was said about upgrades on the Lord's commandments. This part of the discussion resonated with me. I see how valuable that particular counsel is collectively and individually. I also love what was said about meekness. It's a characteristic I am still trying to develop. Still working on it, need lots of help from the Lord on that one. Thank you for teaching me more about the Saviour. It's always in the back of my mind that everything will be ok in these uncertain and unprecedented times with the Lord ❤️.

Love what you are doing! May I offer a suggestion that we are always complete and whole...we are enough in every moment. Would God suggest anything different? That doesn't negate additional improvement, learning, comprehension, and growth. But if we believe otherwise, no wonder the anxiety and self-judgement people of faith experience.

"Hurt" and "anger" are different. Hurt is feeling pain. Anger is a strong feeling of displeasure. We can't prevent hurt. You can't choose to not feel pain when cut, both physical and emotional. But you can discipline yourself to not express anger. Anger has to be controlled to maintain positive relationships with others. It is a loss of self-control. Anger is a selfish indulgence, a physiological arousal, that is often treated like an entitlement. Anger can make you feel as though you’re at the mercy of an unpredictable and powerful emotion, but you can learn how to control it. All that said, it is still important to take steps to resolve conflicts. Ignoring a conflict isn't the same as being at peace. Don't let resentment build. Attempt to sort it out.

Mkay...has anyone else ever Googled the 613 laws of Moses (or mitzvot in Hebrew)? Even though Jesus Christ came and fulfilled the Law of Moses (same guy that gave the law to Moses) the vast majority of them are so practical, elementary I should say. Literally "our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ." I am going to mark each one of them in my Old Testament.

I'm interested in a bit more information about the Egyptian roots of Mormon. I have some background with hieroglyphs. I see the "Mor" part, the "hoe" glyph ('mr' phonetically Gardiner's sign list U6) does mean love or beloved, but I can't find the Mon (mn?) glyph for enduring. Forever, repeatedly, eternity is the guinea fowl glpyh "nhh" (Gardiner's sign list G21). What glyph are you using for the mon or mn phoneme?

The mn sign is Y5. Apparently, it is an intransitive verb meaning to stick/to remain/to endure. See Wiktionary page, search for mn and then scroll down to Egyptian Etymology 1.

Salt and pearls: I am a mechanical engineer. I grasp the spiritual lessons of the salt and pearls. But my technical mind demands to know what the literal story means to a farmer 2,000 years ago. Salt cannot lose its saltiness, but it can lose its savor/flavor. Those people 2,000 years ago did not have purified Morton's table salt like we do. They had sea salt. Sea salt contains minerals that add flavor to the salt. So how does sea salt lose its savor? By contamination with things that don't taste good. Even our modern table salt is avoided by chefs if it is iodized salt because iodine does not taste good. Now to the pearls: Why do the pigs attack? Domesticated swine don't attack unless provoked. So what is it about stepping on pearls that would agitate pigs? I have Googled this and haven't yet found a satisfactory answer. Here's my current best guess: The pearls get wedged between their hooves, causing pain, causing the attack. An alternate explanation: A common pig behavior is to gnaw on stones. Pearls are made of calcium carbonate. If you crush a pearl, what you have left is powdered chalk. So, if the pig thinks they are being fed but instead end up with a mouthful of chalk, maybe that would provoke an angry response? Any pig farmers out there that can shed light on this verse of scripture?

I've always noticed that Jesus said in the new testament His (Our) Father as perfect, with the invitation to join it, And in 3rd Nephi He included Himself as perfect, completed, finished... (re-inviting us to be like Him and Our Father) Wouldn't this imply that our Bible is lacking in Christ and His being sealed to an eternal companion? Why else would Elijah be with Moses on the Mount of Transfiguration? To restore to the Earth in Christ's time the sealing keys to the Apostles so that they could begin to preform the needed covenant with God to be sealed with your chosen companion?

I am confused about the 613 commandments you spoke of today that were given to Moses. Why do we only speak of ten. Where do I find all the others.

In this weeks lesson it talks about a man not divorcing his wife except for fornication, but by modern definition, fornication is between unmarried people. Married people commit adultery. Is there something I am not getting here?

I hope you will clarify: It seems that you were advocating for actually physically removing one's eyes or hands if one tends to use these sinfully. There are troubled people out there who would actually do this...

Please let your production people know that your lighting is too bright. It washes out your faces and it's hard to see the white board. Your program is great!

We received a large number of complaints at the beginning of the year protesting how dark the background was, so in an effort to make things better we brightened up the videos (more than is professionally comfortable for us ;). We’ll be lightening up the set in then later videos and then you’ll see a realignment of exposure. Hope This helps! 😊

My understanding is that since the word means”complete “ and not just sinless, he had not completed what he came to do yet. Hope that helps ❤
